Coldplay “Music Of The Spheres” Tour Atlanta 2022 – JAYFORCE.COM

Coldplay is one of our favorite bands of this generation & this world-renown group haven’t been to Atlanta that often over the years so this show for attendees would be nothing less than special. The last time Coldplay performed live in Atlanta was back in 2012. Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay acknowledged the significance of their return to Atlanta this past June 11th on Saturday night. Chris Martin explained that prior to their first ever show in Atlanta more than a decade ago, they weren’t doing well or maybe things weren’t going as they expected as a band. Their first ever show in at Atlanta was at the popular concert venue “The Tabernacle” & the show turned out so well for them that he said it was a significant turning point in their careers afterward. Coming out of the pandemic amidst everything else going on in the world, Coldplay’s Atlanta’s return was nothing less than visibly electric & spectacular for the 70,000+ sold out show at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

This Coldplay “Music Of The Spheres” show has been one of the best concerts we’ve attended by any artist in years. The stadium roof was open, the fireworks, the lasers, the LED wristbands given to fans, & the four different stages strategically positioned at various points on the floor all worked out perfectly in unison for one of the best shows I’ve ever attended. The band brought out surprise guest & Atlanta native Kelly Rowland at one point in the show for an acoustic cover of “Independent Women” from her time with her group Destiny’s Child. Prior to introducing Kelly Rowland to the crowd Chris Martin spoke to the audience about how when Coldplay was a new band with little money, not very fashionable & some notoriety via their one hit song that was hovering around the mid 20s on the UK charts, they met Destiny’s Child at UK televison show “Top Of The Pops.” This was the initial meeting & beginning of their friendly relationship as artists in the music industry. It was fitting that the band started their show with their song “Higher Power” as its noted that most of the performance at Mercedes-Benz stadium was powered by green energy. Fans that danced & moved around on the floor of the stadium powered many of the lights & prior to the show beginning their were people riding stationary bikes which interestingly assisted in this green energy task. It’s just one of the many efforts that band has been supporting in making the planet better as well as continuing to making the world better through music. Check out some exclusive videos above & below from the JAYFORCE.COM crew covering the event…

Alternative: Coldplay – “Ink” (Video)

Interactive video for “Ink” – the latest single off Coldplay’s latest album “Ghost Stories” (out now, posted on it earlier here). Incredible! The viewer controls the story… the video is an animated version of the lead singer (Chris Martin) of the alternative group – searching for love. Could be laying out ocean-side with his love to start, trailing her through the forest… and then… well, you decide.

Coldplay – ‘True Love’ (Video)

I’m a HUGE Coldplay fan & have been playing their latest album “Ghost Stories” on repeat since it dropped in May. One of my favorite songs from the album is ‘True Love’ which is now their third single from the project. The lyrics in the song are hauntingly relative to the emotions of trying to hold onto someone you genuinely care about. Great lyrics, great music, & now we have a brand new creative video as this brit-band has done throughout their career. Coldplay is hands down one of my favorite bands of all-time & they are not even near done.

R&B/Soul: Jesse Boykins III – “Sparks” (Coldplay Cover)

Fly Model - JAYFORCE.COMThe Chicago R&B Soul singer does his own rendition of one of my favorite songs from Coldplay. Can’t honestly say I like Jesse’s version better than the original, but I appreciate his version for what it is.

Coldplay – “Charlie Brown” (Video)

One of my favorite bands drops a new video for “Charlie Brown” off of their successful Mylo Xyloto album that’s out now. The ‘glow in the dark’ video was shot in & around London

Coldplay – ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ (Video)

I can recall a conversation I had with someone about a week ago who said they were a “big Coldplay fan”, but when I mentioned Cemeteries Of London was my favorite song from their last album Viva La Vida the person I was speaking with drew a blank stare.  Fake. They’d probably confuse Chris Martin with Dj Premier. I’m a Coldplay fan unlike many of these people who say they like Coldplay only because Jay-Z name dropped & eventually worked with them.  It’s almost the same how Jay-Z became a fan after Kanye initially mentioned that he wanted to work with them.  Doesn’t seem like those type of people are truly fans more so than they are fans of the power of a particular band’s popularity.  Or, at least to them, its the “popular” thing to say.  What initially drew me into Coldplay’s music was not only the great music itself, but they’ve always had creatively interesting videos that leave an impression with you hours, days, & months after you viewed them for the first time. Hard to believe that Coldplay have been carefully crafting good music for over a decade now. Today they dropped a brand new video from what will be their fifth album dropping this fall. From the looks of this video they didn’t change up their formula.

Anderson .Paak Vs. The World’s Hottest… Vegan Nuggets (Video)

A vegan version of the Hot Wing challenge? Okay. So this time it’s about the heat, not the meat… Hmm, feels like I ought to say ‘pause’ here. Bwaahahaa!

Anderson .Paak is a critically-acclaimed, Grammy-nominated singer, rapper, drummer, and producer—but how is he with hot food? Find out as the multi-talented musician scurries up Mount Scoville with host Sean Evans, one hot sauce-drenched vegan nugget at a time. Along the journey, Anderson discusses opening for Beyonce, defends his Coldplay obsession, and gives details on his new Dr. Dre-assisted album, Oxnard, dropping November 16.
– First We Feast

I will say this is probably the funniest convo during a Hot Ones challenge I have watched.

R&B/Soul: Jesse Boykins III – “Our Tonight is Mine” (Video)

A lot of R&B these days is non quality.  I like my R&B singers to not sound like rappers and Jesse Boykins III is still making good R&B.  The thing is you can have sensual lyrics without telling a lady “Pull your panties to the side & Drop it to the floor” , what you mostly hear on the radio these days. Well the track “Our Tonight is Mine” off Jesse’s Love Apparatus album talks to the ladies in a subtle but sexy way.  The video features Jesse Boykins and Swedish model Amanda Looma while all of this takes place in the car in a parking garage.  I know Jesse is happy with the director because he gets to kiss and feel on a hot swedish model while singing to her.  Wait a minute just checked the credits video Written & Directed by Jesse Boykins III (Well played Jesse, well played) Parking Lot Loving!

Alternative/R&B: SZA – “Moodring” (Produced By Felix Snow)

artworks-000084587898-md4l7l-t500x500

That’s a hella cute pic of SZA for the “Moodring” (produced by Felix Snow) artwork. The track is crazy dope. Crazy story behind it, too…

I wrote “Moodring” the night I opened for Coldplay. I hadn’t slept in two and half days due to anxiety. After the show, I drank every bottle of champagne Chris Martin [and] the band gave us that night, with Thundercat and my band. Great f*cking time.
SZA

Check for the single on DJ Kitty Cash’s mixtape “Love The Free II” (due out July 22, 2014). Cash would likely categorize this cut as progressive R&B (sounds ‘alternative’ to be certain).

Dee-1 – “Jason Geter”

dee1-jasongeter

New Orleans emcee, Dee-1, spills it in this one. The former LSU grad rhymes about trying to connect with T.I.’s manager “Jason Geter” back in the day. Samples one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands…. Coldplay’s “Trouble.”

July 5th – Breakfast In Paris (EP)

The UK collective known as July 5th consists of producer VersA Beatz & singer/songwriter Dukus who joined forces for this quality sounding “Breakfast In Paris” project. The duo describe their sound as “Pharrell meets Coldplay” as the music does follow a sort of R&B/Alternative vibe similar to the lane artists like Frank Ocean & The Weeknd have been running with. This 10-song free album/EP does have a slight difference in that their UK background presents another chilled out dynamic that makes this joint all the more impressive. Check out a few standout tracks below & view the complete tracklisting & download the complete project underneath….
