Fab Boy Boochie With R.I.P. Bars For ‘Cupcake’ (Video)

Shout to Birmingham’s (Alabama) Fabboy Boochie (aka Charles Smith) for this timely rhyme I caught on the Facebook feed. I think we will all feel this one for a while. We should. We must do better by our children.

I can hear yours tears of joy from heaven outside my window you getting love ❤️ from all over the 🌍 I wish I could’ve been there to help you I hope you accept my apology 🧁💜 #imsorry 😢 #KeepSharing 🙏🏾
Charles Smith

We keep losing our babies in the most heinous ways. Recently, Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney was kidnapped from a party, and her remains were found a week later (more after the jump). Damn.

Sports: NBA To Crack Down On Verbally Abusive Fans (Video)

Okay. I’m for this. I mean, I would hear the old argument, “That’s what they get paid millions for… to put up with fans’ outbursts.” But I was ALSO a proponent of once your mouth ‘writes that check’ that 6’7″ brother you slurred should get to ‘cash you out court side’ (fines issued on a case-by-case basis, of course). I mean, hey, ALL speech is free… but no one is free from the consequences (just saying).

Nowadays, though, why don’t we just mandate some decorum on both sides. If you don’t think your seat was worth what you paid for it, don’t feel like you can “get your money’s worth” with hateful heckling. Nah, son. That day is done.

I especially like that even a ‘borrowed’ season ticket seat can be lost if the borrower acts out of pocket.

Only potentials issue I see: No ‘instant replay’ in the stands. A lifelong fan losing that season ticket seat for a ‘misheard statement’… well, taking that L would hurt a fan working for $50K a year way more than that athlete who earned $5MIL last year.

Let’s see how this plays out. Let those players play in [relative] peace from now on.

That is exactly how human beings are supposed to interact with one another… It’s not more complicated than that… Somebody’s having a hard time, and you help them.

Tearjerker alert. Mondays are Mondays. Watch this though. You WILL get hit in the feels. And you can blame Ellen and Will for ‘chopping them onions’ and ‘making your eyes rain’ as they celebrate these kids and their awesomeness!

Politics: Jeff Johnson Leads A Power-Packed Panel Of Pundits In Discussing Today’s Black Agenda And Campaign 2020 (Video)

This feels like what a TV station calling itself REVOLT should be doing with its platform, at least in significant part. Very varied viewpoints from and in the Black community are presented and explored here, which is a good thing. Folks (e.g. we and the people who want our votes) need to understand that we are not a monolith, a block, a sector, a checklist item, etc. for the campaign… nor do we necessarily ‘win’ when ‘our candidate’ (whatever that means) wins.

Go get a snack and a beverage, and come back focused. ‘Bout to be some real talk. Necessary talk!

T.I., Killer Mike, Candace Owens, Steven Pargett Of Trap The Vote, Katrina Pierson, & Tamika D Mallory have an open and honest conversation about politics, and the culture we live in today.
– REVOLT TV

Be forewarned: You will get agitated and frustrated. Hang in there. Especially because there is thoughtful, useful insight shared EVERY TIME we get a chance to hear from Killer Mike. Much respect and respek on the name Michael Render!

Rashon Khan Reveals That Richard Pryor Wanted Paul Money Dead & The Reason Why (Video)

This is HEAVY.

You (should) know there are too many stories… truths… that go unconfessed about that favorite family friend, uncle, aunt, big cousin, etc. that took advantage of youth. Okay, molestation. That is the word. And it is UGLY; the word and the act. And if this is facts… Damn, Paul. Damn.

Rashon Khan, author of upcoming book ‘Everything Wasn’t Funny,’ would find himself brushing shoulders in Hollywood, and would be known for years as Richard Pryor’s bodyguard and trainer. In his talk with CH he shares how Pryor wanted longtime friend Paul Mooney gone after violating his young son.

RIP Bushwick Bill (Video)

There was a lot of back-and-forth, is he or isn’t he? But later on into Sunday we got news we were not ready to hear…

Geto Boys’ Bushwick Bill [born Richard Stephen Shaw] died Sunday evening, his publicist confirmed to Associated Press and on Instagram. Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He was 52.
– Pitchfork.com

Sad to report it when we got final confirmation, but relieved that the brother’s suffering has ended. Our deepest condolences to his family and our thanks, as part of a Hip-Hop Nation that was blessed by his light. Check out the video montage showing some of Bill’s brilliance above. Sports: Deontay Wilder vs. Dominic Breazeale Ends With A First Round Knockout! (Video)

Sometimes you gotta just let them hands do the talking. However, in boxing, commentary helps make the moment. I have longtime ties to Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide) Alabama, so I was hollering BOOOOMMMB SQUAAAAD with the hometown hero Wilder. But when Breazeale caught that Thor’s Hammer to the jaw… It was the commentator’s WOWWW that got me.

Makes me keep playing this clip on repeat.

WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder delivered the 40th knockout of his career in devastating fashion, sending mandatory challenger Dominic “Trouble” Breazeale flat on his back with a trademark right hand in front of a raucous crowd at Barclays Center.

RIP Nipsey Hussle (Video)

I hoped against all hope that it was not true, but CNN and major news and online reporting outlets confirm that Nipsey Hussle died tragically, the result of a shooting near his clothing store, in the area of Crenshaw and Slauson. Born Ermias Davidson Asghedom, he was 33 years old.

Beyond the obvious, what is really saddening is that while Nip lived a lifetime in his short years, he had so much more to live for. He was fresh off a well-deserved Grammy nomination and consistently recognized for his solid body of work in rap, his noteworthy successes in business, and his neighborhood activism in keeping with global thinking and local action. But he was due for more: J. Cole and Drake both shared that they were set to do songs with him and would miss his presence. He was in the final stages of buying up the block [where his business operates] and bringing peace & brotherhood to his hood. And we just posted on the committed relationship and family life he had built with Lauren London on here.

Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle died after a shooting in Los Angeles near a clothing store he owned, according to a high-ranking law enforcement official with the Los Angeles Police Department. CNN’s Brooke Baldwin discusses with DJ HeadKrack.
– CNN

Such a loss for us all. In time, we will heal. But for now, we will mourn. Rest In Peace, Neighborhood Nip.

Watch This Clip On A “Labor Camp” In Belle Glade, Florida, In 1960 (Mini-Documentary)

My Dad saw a similar story on TV in the mid-1980s and it prompted him to go looking for his older brother. They’d only been in sparse contact with each other, but Dad knew Uncle DeWitt was in Florida working on a farm similar to their sharecropping days. It turns out that Uncle DeWitt was caught up at a place like this.

Check out this footage of these kids and their mother at a “labor camp” in Belle Glade, FL in 1960. Gotta see it to believe it.
– UNSTRIPPED VOICE

We got him out of there. But places like that even existing in the 20th century. Makes me feel a way. Watch and you’ll likely feel it, too.
