Sports: Clemson University Wins The 2019 College Football National Championship (Video)

It still stings. A whuppin’ will do that. But the better team won last night, and I am ready to say it… capitalized for effect: The Clemson Tigers Pounced Upon, Pounded Down, And Prevailed Over The Alabama Crimson Tide (my Alma Mater) To Win The College Football National Championship.

Clemson is the best football team in the land. They beat us… DOWN! We were out-played, out-coached, out-willed. Period. The Tigers are UNDEFEATED and UNDENIABLE.

Congratulations to Dabo Swinney and his boys. And no, I am not angry, at all, over their win (no hate). When asked about his final message to the team before they came out to start the game, Clemson Coach Swinney said he told the players (1) to join him in reciting The Lord’s Prayer, (2) to play with joy, and (3) that he loved them.

Man. They won right then! They just hit the gridiron and made it official.

It was an honor for The Tide to meet real Champions on the field of battle. And an honor to watch it (on the big screen… munching on ‘super nachos’ and peach cobbler a la mode) with a living room full of Bama fans.

That’s my take. Coach Nick Saban speaks on the Alabama championship loss after the jump.

Red Bull Music Academy Guest: No I.D. (Video)

Good piece! Resist the urge to skip to the part where No I.D. discusses “The making of 4:44 with Jay-Z.” This whole video is engaging, informative, and insightful.

No I.D. sat down with Chicago journalist Andrew Barber to discuss his early years with Common, managing Kanye West, becoming friends with Jay-Z and why humility and focus are key to success in this public lecture as part of the Red Bull Music Festival Chicago 2018. #RBMCHI #HipHop

Eric Bischoff’s TEDxNaperville Talk On ‘The News Mimicking Pro Wrestling’ (Video)

Hang on through the beginning, speaker Eric Bischoff has some points to make. But like all good ‘sports entertainment’ there is a setup before the ‘real’ match gets started. And watch for the ‘swerve.’

Yes. The news is more like ‘rasslin than we thought. Let Eric explain.

Professional Wrestling and Political News Media have become the ultimate tag team, both utilizing the exact same techniques and formula’s for a very specific outcome. And the outcome is not what you think it is… In 1991, Turner Broadcasting’s World Championship Wrestling (WCW) recruited Eric as an on-camera talent. His entrepreneurial instincts and interests quickly propelled him from talent through the corporate ranks to become WCW’s President in 1998. Before leaving Turner Broadcasting in 1999, Eric had established WCW as the leader in the sports/entertainment category and is largely credited for re-inventing the professional wrestling genre. Eric also created the New World Order (nWo) brand for the TNT Network and was responsible for growing licensing, merchandising, pay-per-view, and live event business units by more than $325M. In 2002, he joining longtime competitor Vince McMahon to be an on-air character on the highly successful USA Network Series “RAW”.

What was that? You wish there was more Dave Chappelle content posted on here? Well, what a coincidence 😉

In a rare interview, comedian Dave Chappelle tells “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King about why he is connecting with a part of his family history at Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. His great-grandfather, Bishop William David Chappelle, was a former President at the University.

Nile Rodgers At The National Museum Of African American Music’s 2018 Legends Gala (Video)

I’m happy to see an incredible institution being built to pay homage and honor to our unique American art form.

Words from a dude that was there, before Hip-Hop THEN through its beginnings. DOPE! But… answer the man… WHY was it so HOT? Hahaaa!

Music Icon Nile Rodgers talks with DJ BLAK MAGIC about how he handled The Sugar Hill Gang sampling his song Good Times and how he feels about being honored by the National Museum of African American Music at their 2018 Legends Gala.

Did you know there was Sugar Hill Gang v. Nile Rodgers beef like that though? They squashed it, and made money, and J. Prince wasn’t even involved. We think (wink).

Event: Hip-Hop Stew Launch Party

Was checking out Techniques Radio on WREK.org last night and they got the word out on this Hop Stew Launch Party. Looks like a good look for the long weekend. Consider chilling and partying with a cause for at least part of this party weekend. More, much more, at HopStew.com but here’s a good blurb on the event…

Hop Stew Launch will be a fun-filled day party with performances from Hip-Hop legend El Da Sensei of The Artifacts, Shabaam Sahdeeq, John Robinson, Beneficence, Stahhr and Phoenyx. It’s going to be a boom bap extravaganza for true Hip-Hop lovers! Our launch will be hosted by Fort Knox! Music will be provided by DJ Dug Boogie and DJ Fudge. Patrons can enjoy an amazing art exhibit. Hop Stew will be donating a portion of all funds raised at launch to the Kidney Foundation. Watch The PBS Teaser For The “Nas: Live from the Kennedy Center” Documentary (Trailer)

This is when you appreciate what an ARTIST like Nas means to Hip-Hop – to rap and music in general. As soon as you say ‘Kennedy Center’ in your mind and think of who would rep the culture and rock that joint right, Nas ought to show up at the top of a relatively short list. LEGENDARY! And there will be PBS coverage of the event. Plus a documentary on the whole happening and events leading up to it.

Two decades after the album’s critically-acclaimed release, Hip-Hop artist Nas teamed up with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, to stage a symphonic rendition of “Illmatic,” one of the most revered albums in Hip-Hop history. The new concert film Great Performances — Nas Live From the Kennedy Center: Classical Hip-Hop captures the energy and nostalgia of this collaborative performance and premieres nationwide Friday, February 2 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings).
