House Shoes put out this jawn “Dreams – B.I.G. Re:Imagined.” It’s a stack of Biggie tracks remixed by Shoes, Nottz, 14KT, Quelle Chris, Khrysis, and others. Solid work.
March marks the passing of the lauded rapper Notorious B.I.G. (aka Biggie) and to honor his legacy, New York resident DJ Finesse debuted a special tribute mix during DJ Premier’s Sirius/XM show “Live From Headqcourterz” on March 8. This extended mix (longer than the debut) showcases Biggie a capellas paired with Premier-produced beats, with a special intro by Primo himself.

Every since he dropped it I’ve been working out to AraabMUZIK’s instrumental album “For Professional Use Only” being motivated only by the beats. One of my tracks on the project is ‘The Prince Is Coming’ which I mentioned in a previous post felt like I could have listened to this during my trip to Dubai. Upon first listen I knew the instrumental track had a strong cinematic feel so it was a surprise to me that AraabMUZIK decided to drop this brand new Tilla directed video for it. Great minds think alike….
“The storyline spans three different time periods, past, present, and future and follows the mysterious entity known as “8″ who transcends them all. During a live performance, Araab zones out and finds himself in the middle of an epic battle between good and evil, which only the music can free him.” – HHNM
Anyone who knows me is well aware that one of my favorite hip hop artists is the emcee formerly known as Mos Def. Looks like I’m not the only one as DJ Dub links with FreeOnsmash to deliver this brand new Yasiin Bey – “ReDefinition” mixtape. Listen, download & check out the tracklisting plus additional information below….
“Some artists in the hip-hop genre are so confident in their natural talent, that they can do whatever they please on the mic. The Mighty Mos Def, I’m sorry, Yasiin Bey is one of those people. Being able to flex his acting chops, serve as a conduit for the spirit of Ali by way of Louis Vuitton and not miss a beat on the microphone, is an amazing feat by any standard. DJ Dub brings portions of his vast catalog to life mixing classics, b-sides and his infamous Dub mixes to create a listening experience that should not be missed. Consider Re:DEFinition as your official introduction to the artist known as Yasiin Bey.”
Atlanta based producer Illastrate is one of ‘illest’ producers who’s been consistently releasing quality product on the low for a while now. His masterful & often soulful production credits continues to grow albeit rather quietly to the larger mainstream audiences. As much as he’s known throughout the Atlanta true school & soul scene for his tracks he’s almost equally known amongst those in the know for the wild alter-egos he employs such as “Hoodie Allen” & of course his latest alias inspired by songwriter Kenny Loggins & his love for Hennessy to become “Henny Loggins”. Wasn’t surprised when he chose the latest moniker for ‘SEASON 1′ as the title of the new project series featuring artists Ekundayo, Boog Brown, Stanza, Mike Flo, Yamin Semali, Arablak, & more. If you just want to vibe out to his dope tracks minus all the vocals, Illastrate also provided an instrumental version of the project as well. Listen or download the joints below….
One of the hardest working DJ’s in Atlanta, DJ Blakmagic drops a brand new specialty mix featuring blends of popular & classic joints to keep the party moving. Known for his diverse ear & the ability to rock variety of different crowds regardless of the demographic, DJ Blakmagic always represents the Kulture, Art, Kool, & brings the Energy to his mixes. It’s only right to call this joint the K.A.K.E. mix. Check out the trailer above featuring model Valore St. Charles then download or listen to project below. Now go get you some!
Brand new video for “B.I.T.E”. from the Brooklyn emcee F.A.B.O…..off of “The Soul 2″ mixtape which was one of our favorite projects from last year. Now if Fabolous could just give us dope videos for the “We Get High” & “Beauty” joints then I’d really be happy. Let’s keep the visuals coming Loso…..
Azon Blaze and the homie SkyBlew have teamed up like a North Carolina Batman and Robin (read: Dynamic Duo) known as Blaze The Sky. The video above is for their single – “That Ain’t Street” (produced by DJ Qvali) – off their mixtape, “Double Dragon (Hosted By Skaz Digga).” And guess what? It’s out now. And you know what else? Brooklyn (New York, United States) is home to Sebastian So Soul (born Jonathan Francis). With a style inspired by Quincy Jones, Kanye West, and J Dilla, Sebastian So Soul has a stated life-changing musical mission: to “create opportunities for those who want to create opportunities for others.” Check out the “The Black Tape” he dropped for February; and keep checking for this musician on a mission:
‘“The Black Tape” is my debut project that is themed around Black History Month. The purpose of this project was to showcase my ability as a producer as well as provide listeners with music containing substance that seems to be lacking in our current industry. The speeches featured on this tape touch on an array of topics from, spirituality to politics, to self-sufficiency and empowering our communities by taking education, and business into our own hands. Within these changing times, the focal point of progression is not geared towards racial equality, as much as it once was, but rather knowing how our decisions as individuals effect humanity as a whole.
North Cackalack, stand and be recognized! North Carolina’s KAZE (a.k.a. 4 Lettters a.k.a. Black Kennedy) presents his “Black Kennedy” mixtape. 20 tracks, over 80 minutes of music, with guests galore (like Jozeemo, Amanda Barrino, Dasan Ahanu, Johnny Juliano, Wreck N Crew, J. Harris and Fluent) and producers including M-Phazes and D.R.U.G.S.
‘“Black Kennedy” is a creative step forward for me as an artist, where I can make bigger records, without sacrificing my artistry or abandoning my fan base. This record is North Carolina, and the way we do things. The Kennedy family persona is American royalty. JFK was a gifted, down to earth politician and visionary, while maintaining the presence of a trendsetter, and the allure of an international playboy, all in one. Leaders such as himself, and Dr. King, were so powerful, yet still for the people. They inspire me to recreate that lane where you can be intelligent, yet strong, and still be cool.
At the end of the day, I love this sh!t and I do it to share with y’all, and to have fun at these shows. I put in my work, and my name belongs among the illest to come from NC, period. “Black Kennedy” is my evolution, Sound of the Culture is the movement.’

Yet another joint making DJ Green Lantern the deejays’ deejay. His “Jigga Man Bootleg” – initially the intro to “Altitude” (mixtape) – is heavily requested from fans and deejays alike…as a reworked full song. Well, you don’t even have to request it anymore. It’s FREE here.
DIAMONDCUTTERZ’ DJ JAV from the DMV (DC/MD/VA area) is both friend and fan to Homeboy Sandman’s music and movement, double motivation for the deejay to spotlight Homeboy’s work.
‘Fresh out of the lab with exclusive remixes and an exclusive radio freestyle, the 80 minute long mix “Orphans” highlights 30 Homeboy Sandman gems exhibiting elite lyricism and wordplay combined with amazing production from the U.S. to London & Wales, brought to life by the likes of P.So, 2 Hungry Bros, Psycho Les, Jinesis and more. An Intro beat produced by Low Budget Crew’s Kaimbr and cover art by DC Native Aniekan Udofia make this project a definite must listen.’

J. Cole has shared some music from his vault with us in the form of a five-track EP. With assurances that there is so much more in the vault and more music on the way, Cole offers words of thanksgiving and affirmation:
I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album… And I have… It’s hard as f*ck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul..
