New Music: Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) – “N*ggas In Poorest”

Mos Def Yasiin Bey continues to manifest why he’s one of my favorite rappers. Skills? Check. Style all his own? Check. Not caught up into all the extra Hollywood stuff in the game? Check. Social commentary in his music? Check. Fearless? Check. Yasiin Bey goes in on Ye & Jay’s “N*ggas In Paris” record but flips it with with a message for cats caught up on their ‘thrones.’ The song is part of Yasiin’s Top 40 Underground freestyle project in which the mighty Yasiin will flip popular songs as only he could do best….

Freeway – “N*ggas In Africa” (Video)

To me it’s a fail for Kanye & Jay-Z to name one of their songs “Niggas In Paris” on their “Watch The Throne” album. The brothas could have come up with a more creative title than that in my opinion. Especially considering the song has the potential to become a global hit from two high profile artists. I wonder how they’ll eventually get around it when their handlers start pushing for radio airplay. Supposedly “Ye-Z” are even going to do a video for the song too but not before a gang of emcees drop freestyle videos for it first. One person I’m most certainly not mad at is North Philly’s finest “Philly Freezer” who didn’t waste not time getting on this track…(Freeway voice) “EARLY!” Freeway does the damn thing over the beat, but either I’m getting old or something but I just want to cringe at that title. Sheehz!
