Soul singer Raheem DeVaughn taps into the consciousness of what’s going on around the country & the world with his new mixtape “Freedom Fighter”. This socially conscious project finds Raheem following in almost the same path as fellow D.C. native Marvin Gaye’s socially relevant athems like “What’s Going On?” & “Mercy Me (The Ecology).” Perhaps this particular project was inspired by Raheem DeVaughn’s recent arrest in D.C. during the Occupy D.C. movement alongside Dr. Cornel West who also appears on the mixtape.  Additional features include Chrisette Michele, Damian Marley, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jill Scott, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Anthony Hamilton, & many others.
