“Kids Right Now” (featuring Mikkey Halsted) is a hot one off Psalm One’s album “Child Support” (out now on iTunes). The track was produced by Optiks, and credit for this beautiful video goes to Aaron Perkins, Jr. (of APJ Films), who directed and edited it. I became an instant fan and semi-secret admirer of Psalm One’s when she was clowning on the “Open Relationship” joint with R.A. The Rugged Man. She and Mikkey came with a serious vibe on this one. Content, lyrics, skills, and delivery…they’re back! DOPE! Chicago emcees Psalm One and Mikkey Halsted are ‘cooking up a blessing’ for the “Kids Right Now” … and us by way of this track. Respect! There is so much that is RIGHT with this “Open Relationship” (er…the video, too)! R.A. the Rugged Man directed the video in which he also stars. Even doing double-duty, he does not slack on the skills and delivery for this joint (neither does partner-in-rhyme Psalm One). Throw in a cameo from Bumpy Knuckles and some dashes of freaky fun, and we have a hit! Whimsical, lyrical, and a little kinky. It’s all that. Enjoy!
