Mahtie Bush – “Skid Row” (Prod. By DJ Ethik) [Video]

Thinking ’bout walking around “Skid Row” solo? Don’t do it to yourself man. It’s hard out there. It’s hard on this track, too. Mahtie Bush goes in!

(Hit the jump for more on Mahtie.)

Mahtie Bush is a Hip-Hop artist from Sacramento. He is both a rapper and breakdancer who finds himself performing and competing frequently throughout the year. His music content tends to reflect his childhood memories of being in Foster Care, witnessing drug abuse and struggling to “make it,” subjects which he feels many people can relate to but very few people talk about. Not all his music is as heavy though, as he also makes sure that his break dancing roots are strongly represented in his content and beat selection.

Bush has released several Mixtapes during his career; most notably a highly controversial project entitled “Sac Hates Hip Hop” which made him a permanent fixture in the Sacramento Hip-Hop scene. His debut solo album “Backpackramento” was briefly featured in local publications as well as the legendary “The Source” magazine. The music video for the title track “Backpackramento” was submitted and received an honorable mention at the Sonora ITSA Film Festival. As a solo artist, he is one of the few Sacramento rappers with his music available to listen to on Pandora Internet Radio, as well as has been played and featured on local radio stations KBMB 103.5, KSFM 102.5 and many California College and internet radio shows and podcasts.

He enjoys performing and has been given the opportunity to travel in order to perform, hitting stages in New York City, Boise, Salt Lake City, Portland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Victoria B.C., Kelowna B.C., Melbourne (Australia), and Tahiti. He has been given the opportunity to open up for legendary Hip-Hop artists such as Nas and Chino XL, and even had appearances on stage with Chino XL, as his “hype man” during his performances at Paid Dues and the legendary Fillmore stage in San Francisco as well as other shows during Immortal Technique’s “The Martyr Tour.”

Mahtie Bush has a Mixtape that will be released in the Spring of 2013 entitled “Hate is Love, Part II” which is the second part of the Mixtape entitled Hate is Love, which was released prior to “Backpackramento” and featured DJ GI Joe and Chino XL. In addition to the Mixtape, Bush’s sophomore album “Child’s Play,” as well as a collaboration EP will also be released late 2014.
