Science: When It Comes To A Supernova, How Close Is Too Close For Earth? (Video)

Keep calm and realize that stars going supernova happens all the time across the vast universe. It will eventually happen in or near our solar system. But just how close would a supernova would have to be to wipe out life on Earth? Welp, about 50 light years… about 27 times the size of the solar system… away. Soooo, actually not close at all. In fact, 50 light years or nearer and we are totally annihlated. But we can still be galactically eff’d if the supernova is a further out.

Watch. Learn. Breathe.
