Kojoe – “The J Mixtape”

FLUD has teamed up with Japanese Hip Hop artist Kojoe to present “The ‘J’ Mixtape”, now available on and DatPiff websites. Kojoe is making a name for himself in the music industry after only 2 years back in his homeland. The bi-lingual emcee & songwriter is also an executive of On Records a Nagoya, Japan based label.  Born Sakata Koichiro, Kojoe has embarked on the daunting task of pushing cultural, business, and language barriers by propelling himself as a Hip Hop/Soul artist in 2 critical markets: Japan and in the U.S.  You can listen or download the mixtape from the links below or just click on the artwork…

Kojoe – “4 All We Know” featuring Ish-One (Video)

After seeing some of the behind the scenes video we posted several weeks ago, finally the dope video for “4 All We Know” by one of Japan’s hottest emcees Kojoe featuring Ish-One drops. Filmed in the Land of the Rising Sun, the video flashes some of the greater Tokyo area’s true “Fast & Furious” car owners and club members, along with cameos by Tokyo DJs, artists, and industry trendsetters.  The track was produced by Streets, a North Carolina native, who was once stationed in Japan. Spittin’ in both Japanese & in English, Kojoe & Ish-One flow with a message about living life to the fullest…

Daisha Hunter Signs on as a New Host of Future Sound TV Japan (Video)

Shout out to my homegirl Daisha Hunter aka DJ Dai-Light who is one of the new hosts of Future Sound TV out in Japan which is a weekly entertainment show that broadcasts on the ‘Far East Coast.’ Although the show doesn’t broadcast here in the states, you can check different segments from their website. Future Sound TV covers everything from music, exotic cars, street motorcycle culture, nightlife,  DJ culture, women, fashion & just about everything else out there in the land of the rising sun. In this episode Daisha broadcasts from the set of former Rawkus records artist & Japanese emcee Kojoe’s & Ish-One’s music video shoot for “4 All We Know” that looks like it’s gonna be something outta the movie Fast & Furious. Daisha is a key person to know when it comes to the the Japanese music scene & is also a great bridge for between the U.S. & Japanese music scenes. DJ Dai-Light is celebrating a big party with a number of special guests out there in Japan on January 14th so I might fly out there & check it out. It’s a 14 hour flight to Japan so put that emphasis on “Might”….May have to just send her a card. hahaaa!

The Academy – ‘Samurydas’ feat. Raekwon, Kurupt, & Kojoe

New joint from the production team The Academy & they brought along some three lyrical Samurai Rydas to bless the track from the East Coast, West Coast & back to the Far East Coast with the homie Kojoe out in Japan. Before I forget…..Happy belated birthday to Kojoe too!  Kojoe is just coming off his Kojoe Tuesdays series but is about to release an official mixtape in Japan & back here in the states.  What better way that to get it poppin’ than to rock on a track with two other skilled emcees in Raekwon & Kurupt. Kojoe also has a track with Styles P that we’re hoping he eventually leaks later.

International Spotlight: Kojoe EPK (Video)

Representing for Japan, former Rawkus records artist & bi-lingual emcee Kojoe wants to you to get more familiar. Kojoe has released several bangers over the past year that I’ve been diggin & playing on my radio show. His ability to speak fluently in english as well as Japanese helps to expand his fanbase beyond the borders as opposed to just around the average city block. Lately he’s been dropping freestyles every Tuesday for his Kojoe Tuesdays marathon. Check his website for more IAMKOJOE.COM. Kojoe is an asian emcee with global aspirations….

New Music: Kojoe – ‘May Day’

Japanese hip hop artist Kojoe drops this new joint called ‘May Day’ which is the first single from the upcoming ‘Mixed Identities 1.5’ mixtape due this year.  The project continues with the ‘Mixed Identities’ concept which is relative to Kojoe’s upbringing as a native Japanese Hip Hop artist who has also spent time in Queens & was at one time signed to Rawkus Records.  The original concept is also evident in his decision to continue to rhyme in both Japanese & English & yet & still sound cohesive for hip hop fans from the ‘Far East Coast’ to the East Coast of the U.S. to still fully vibe with it.  The track was produced by J. Cardim who’s done work with Joe Budden, Lil Wayne, Little Brother, Akon, Ludacris, Saigon, & many other notables in the rap game stateside. I also reposted one of my favorite joints from Kojoe called ‘Paper’ as a bonus track as well.  Make sure you check out his website IAMKOJOE.COM & peep the tracks….
