Eddy Kenzo – “Sitya Loss” (Video)

I fell in love with this song ever since I saw a youtube video of a few kids in Africa dancing too it. At the time I had no idea of who the artist was & had to take the time to track it down. Eventually I discovered the song was from Musuuza Edrisa who is a popular artist in East African widely known as “Eddy Kenzo”. The Ugandan born artist’s song ‘Sitya Loss’ is going viral in popularity thanks in large part to the original youtube video of the kids dancing in the clip. The video of the kids dancing has become so popular it’s even spawned various remixes like the Stanton Warrior’s video of ‘Loving Me Wrong’. Check out this brand new video from Eddy Kenzo as he joins the kids that made the song become more popular internationally. The remixes & original videos I’ve included after the jump. I’m glad I’ve finally found this song as it’s been promptly added to my itunes playlist & I’ve had it on repeat multiple times since then.

VICE: Renegade Jewish Settlers (Documentary)

“Israeli settlers have been slowly nibbling away at Palestine’s West Bank territory for more than 30 years. 300,000 settlers now occupy illegal outposts that range in size from plywood shacks to full-blown suburban housing complexes. Their abundance has grounded the much-ballyhooed two-state solution to a halt. In this documentary, VICE correspondent Simon Ostrovsky travels from Tel Aviv to the remote West Bank outposts where young Israelis squat for the sake of their heritage.” – VICE

Tall Black Guy – “Desperte se Rápido” (Instrumental)

From his 11-track digital album, “Brazilian Chronicles” (out now), Tall Black Guy releases this instrumental gem, “Desperte se Rápido.” A nice uplifting message at the end, too. The commentary at the ends sounds like the voice of Bobby McFerrin but I could be wrong though. You can get “Brazilian Chronicles” – a montage of Brazilian-sampled music (including “Desperte se Rápido”) – by following the link provided here.

K’naan – “Hurt Me Tomorrow” (Video)

Somali born emcee & the troubadour himself, K’naan, delivers a colorful new video for “Hurt Me Tomorrow”. The song is further in the direction of the R&B, Pop, or World Music lane than the earlier days when we had K’naan on the Beatz & Lyrics Show years ago. It’s not surprising though considering the Toronto based emcee is now considered to be an international hip hop star. Although he’s a bigger international name these days I made a small observation of him not wearing any shoes in this new video that appears to signify that K’naan hasn’t forgotten his roots & the memorable alias he used coming up as the ‘Dusty Foot Philosopher’. Having collaborated with artists like Nas, Nelly Furtado, David Guetta, Wale, & touring with guys like Lenny Kravitz I’m positive his feet are a lot less dusty financially although K’naan still drops his good life philosophies within his music.

There are several DJs that I know of personally who travel the world spinning at clubs or as the DJ for most of your favorite music artists. Pa’lo Monte – “Enigma” featuring Chuck D (Video)

My Dominican brother from another mother, Mafioso , put me up on this new video from the Dominican group Pa’lo Monte who’ve collaborated with Chuck D on this song entitled “Enigma” which touches upon the recruiting tactics and strategies of warfare that land many of young brothas & sistas on the front lines of war only to the benefit of the politically rich & powerful. Beside the song sounding good it’s dope to see there is a great message behind it too. Pa’lo Monte’s new album “Back To The Root” is available now on itunes through Chuck D’s SlamJamz label.
