I’ve been playing this banger for a while now on the radio show, but apparently it’s going to be officially released on 50 Cent’s new “The Lost Tape” mixtape with DJ Drama later. It was originally titled ‘Shady Murder’ from the Street King mixtape Mr. Curtis Jackson put out months ago. For those of you who want a clean & dirty version without the the DJs shout outs yall can cop that here. Murdaaaaah!

R&B: Poo Bear (MDMA) – “#Beats2BreakUp2” (EP)

Jason Boyd, also known as Poo Bear (MDMA), has been in the music business behind the scenes as a singer, songwriter, & producer crafting joints for artists such as Chris Brown, Lupe Fiasco, Wiz Khalifa, Fat Joe, Usher, Kelly Rowland, Redman, Jill Scott, 112, & too many others to name in this post. Wearing many behind the scenes hats, I’m not surprised to find out “MDMA” stands for “Most Devoted Musician Alive”. We’re in a very interesting period of music today as we’re seeing more & more of the creative people who may have been content to just work behind the scenes in the past now stepping out into the forefront as artists. This Las Vegas native just debuted his first official free EP via his website called “#Beats2BreakUp2” featuring 7 tracks of original R&B music including a pretty dope cover of Lauryn Hill’s classic “Sweetest Thing”. July 5th – Breakfast In Paris (EP)

The UK collective known as July 5th consists of producer VersA Beatz & singer/songwriter Dukus who joined forces for this quality sounding “Breakfast In Paris” project. The duo describe their sound as “Pharrell meets Coldplay” as the music does follow a sort of R&B/Alternative vibe similar to the lane artists like Frank Ocean & The Weeknd have been running with. This 10-song free album/EP does have a slight difference in that their UK background presents another chilled out dynamic that makes this joint all the more impressive. This is part three of the promo series for Cooyah Clothing (established since 1987), a Jamaican clothing company now doing business in Florida. After the success of both part one & two, Jah Prince was asked to mix another for the African and European markets with tracks that the company loves. These CDs get sent out with purchase orders but JayForce.com still got the linkz!!
Highlighted artists include Cherine, J Boog, Protoje, Beres Hammond, Ziggi, C Sharp Band and a sweet song from Them Island Boyz featuring Jah Cure.

R&B/Soul: Corey ‘Latif’ Williams – “Philadelphia Healing” EP

While searching around the web as I usually do I ran across this soulfully dope “Philadelphia Healing” EP from Philadelphia singer & songwriter Corey “Latif” Williams. Assuming he was a newcomer to the game initially, I was pleasantly surprised to find some great gems on this new project. Upon further research I discovered the Philly artist was mentored by the late great Teddy Pendergrass & was once signed to Motown records by Kedar Massenberg under the stage name “Latif”. Instantly I had one of those “Ohhhhhhh now I remember” moments as I began to put it all together in my head. Check out his website at Hurltheworld.com. One of my favorite DJs who consistently comes out with the quality R&B/Soul/Alternative mixes is the homie DJ Jamad. If you’re already a fan of his work then you know he doesn’t put out random mixes every week so fans of his mixes appreciate them more for their song selection & placement, themes, artwork, & everything else that better enhances the experience of listening to anything in his Afromentals series of projects. The latest project “Velvet Reasons” is right on time because I’ve still bumping his “Choc-Lo-Dytes” & “Ginger Snaps” mixes from January & March of last year. While most people fast food their mixes, DJ Jamad’s care in creating these mixes continues to make them timeless regardless of when they were released. This joint is pretty cool from southside Atlanta emcee, singer, & producer ForteBowie. This new single & video for “Impala” appears on his “Something About #Bowie” mixtape that’s out now. Not sure if this will also appear on his project Passion & Confusion due in April but this definitely a nice precursor to that because its a definite standout track on the mixtape in my opinion. Having a wide range of abilities in playing a variety of instruments as well with writing & song/vocal arrangements I’m not sure if ForteBowie will be going into a variety of directions with his next full-length project or if it will be similar to the mixtape. The video was shot by director Supadope in the Cobb county area of Atlanta featuring a chocolate stunna named “Cali” who plays the female love interest. Check out the video and/or listen to or download the mixtape including this joint “Impala” under the hood…….
