London Based Fitness Expert “Kemo Marriott” Speaks on “Living Life in Motion” by Odell Simmons

Each year millions of people say they are going to get fit, eat better, and a host of other things.  To make matters more complicated every year new fads and diets hit the market claiming to make miracles happen. I wanted to help cut through the nonsense and speak with someone who could give sound advice.  This brings me to Kemo Marriott a fitness expert, trainer, and music lover who travels the world sharing his knowledge.  Based in London, England yet Kemo can be found across Europe and when we spoke he was residing in Bangkok, Thailand.  So check out interview below where Kemo gives some tips on nutrition, fitness, and his nomadic lifestyle.

Odell: I came across your profile while reading a UK version of Men’s health magazine then started following you on Instagram. Your page is one of the highlights of my day. Full of fun videos of you working out shopping at the market or just doing a dance while enjoying music. What’s your main goals on how you use social media?

Kemo: Haha thanks so much for the kind words!  For now, Social Media- Instagram in particular is an outlet of creativity.  It’s a no holds barred insight into my life.  I know that for the most part, I’m portraying an active, healthy lifestyle but want to do so in a loosely entertaining way. It’s a continually evolving process, but I’m hoping that my following continues to grow so that I can work with interesting brands, whilst continuing to travel the world.

Odell: Hello Kemo, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk with me.

Kemo: Odell, It’s an absolute honor! Thanks so much for reaching out to me.

Odell: This is the time of year where everyone is looking to workout & watching what they eat. Can you give some tips so that this is not something that last for only a few weeks then goes away the rest of the year?

Kemo: No.1 Don’t act on guilt. I can guarantee that most of the people you see in the gym on New Years Day are those feeling guilty and looking to ‘work off’ the excesses of the festive period.Instead, be curious! What activities pique your interest? What can you start doing now that you’ll be doing 5 years from now? Do something as an end in itself and not a means to an end.

Odell: I have heard it time and time again Nutrition is key and You cant out work a bad diet. What advice can you share on the topic of clean eating and proper nutrition to fuel the body?

Kemo: Yes, nutrition is important.  It’s important that we eat minimally processed, wholefoods from natural sources.  However, let’s back up. If you have a bad diet, it’s not as easy as someone saying, “don’t eat that, eat this instead”.  You need help applying that knowledge in the context of their busy, sometimes stressful lives. Nutritional choices have a huge habitual and psychological component. The best thing you can do is change one thing. Focus on that one change for two weeks or so. Then add another habit. It could be as simple as drinking a pint of water when you get up, to ensuring that you’re prioritizing protein in every meal. This approach allows you to layer upon your successes so that you’re habitually making nutritional choices that allow you to thrive for the long term.

Odell: There is no one size fits all when it comes to Fitness & Life. You are a hands on trainer you also created the Brotherhood Training Club. It shows that you definitely enjoy helping people. Can you share some things that you do outside of fitness out that keeps you grounded and motivated?

Kemo: I love music. You may notice that from my stories, I always like to edit to some underground house, techno or hip hop. I enjoy going to dance clubs, and I also love my coffee. I’ve made so many friends from visiting cafes. In fact most friends I make seem to be Baristas. I think, I’d be a barista myself if I wasn’t a Health and Fitness Coach.

Odell: Lastly one minute I see you in London the next you are in Bangkok. Let the people know whats on the horizon for Kemo along with the movements you have founded? Also give the people your information and how they can connect with you?

Kemo: It’s important for me to have a constant. Right now that’s creating quality content and developing the Brotherhood Training Club. Who knows where this journey will take me, but I hope that I’ll be around in this capacity for a while. Twitter: @kemomarriott @brotherhoodtc IG: @kemomarriott  Site: kemomarriott.com

Kemo: The gratitude is all mine. Thanks so much for reaching out. I’m so pleased that you enjoy my content and what I do.
