H.E.R. – “I Used to Know Her: The Prelude” (EP)

It’s funny how H.E.R. put out an EP after H.E.R. LP situation… Well, not ‘funny’ so much… just heard the first track of this set following in the footprints of “Lost Ones” by Lauryn Hill (even calling it “Lost Souls”) and felt the line flip was appropriate. Maybe? Maybe not? Ha!

Either way, don’t stop at that song. Stream all of “I Used to Know Her: The Prelude” for the FREE.99!

Pusha T – “M.P.A.” feat. Kanye West x A$AP ROCKY x The-Dream (Video)

Producer credits to Kanye West…and J. Cole and Che Pope! Ye is conspicuous (well, not really) by his absence. But the rest of the squad on this jawn is front and center enjoying this ‘wonderful cocktail’ in the video for “M.P.A.” off “King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude” (iTunes link below).

GQ – “Last Breath” (Prod. By 9th Wonder)

artworks-000047512424-rdlacy-t500x500GQ – the former NCAA champion basketballer… “secret weapon” of Grammy Award winning producer 9th Wonder… Oakland’s next Hip-Hop hero -  is ramping up for a big 2013 introduction with his two part release, “Death Threats and Love Notes: The Prelude” (out now). It’s the prequel to his upcoming debut LP “Death Threats and Love Notes” which features guest appearances from Nipsey Hussle, Kurupt, Rapsody, and Heather Victoria.

R&B: Ameriie – “Every Time” (Prod. By Focus…)

Our homie & part-time radio show co-host, Focus…, played us a gang of bangers in his studio that he produced for cats but I can’t remember if this newly released Amerie Ameriie joint was one of them. I also noticed that his signature “producer tag” is different so it’s possible this is a much older unreleased track that may have been recorded a while ago. It wouldn’t matter either way because damn near everything Focus… touches works because he can go in a variety of directions or audio “textures” as he would say. Not sure what’s up with the slight name change with an additional “i” in her name from the beautiful blasian songstress, but as long as her next mini-LP “The Prelude” sounds as good as this joint does who cares.
