Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) – “The Light Is Not Afraid Of The Dark” (Produced By Kanye West) [Unreleased]

Yasiin x YeA short while back video hit the web of the artist Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, performing an unreleased song called The Light Is Not Afraid Of The Dark’.  You can check out the video from the live performance in Chicago after the jump, but thanks to the good people over at OKP the unreleased track has been unearthed. The Kanye West produced track was recorded during the time Mos Def was working on his ‘True Magic’ album although the song didn’t make the final cut.  Seems there’s always a few quality gems like these that eventually get to see the light of day as compared to the thousands of recordings the public may never ever get to hear.  As a Yasiin Bey/Mos Def & Kanye West fan I’m glad we were able to have the opportunity to peep this quality joint right here….

Common – “No Sell Out” (Prod. By NO I.D.) [Unreleased]

Dope Chi-town producer & Def Jam executive NO I.D., put this previously unreleased song he recorded with Common up on the web recently. I’m sure this is just one of many ‘Lost Songs’ by Common that may see the light of day eventually. Real hip hop heads may recall this is the same sample used by Main Source for the opening song ‘Snake Eyes’ off of their 1991 classic album ‘Breaking Atoms’.

Tupac – ‘Watch Ya Mouth’ / NY ’87 (Unreleased)

Here’s a couple of Tupac joints that were previously unreleased where we hear ‘Pac going off on just about everybody. Dr. Dre, Nas, De La Soul, Jeru The Damaja, & just about every artist on the East Coast.  It’s interesting to see these particular leaks dropping on the web following accusations that Jimmy Henchmen is alleged to have had something to do with Pac’s being shot in 1994.  That whole incident alone changed history in many ways.  One thing I found to be really interesting with this ‘Watch Ya Mouth’ joint is Pac says..”Dr. Dre ain’t made a beat in 6 years.” That’s an interesting statement considering there have been many ghost producers who have been revealed under Dr. Dre over the years.  We also included the The Dogg Pound diss record ‘NY ’87’ where Tupac is featured along with DJ Quik & Deadly Threat going in on some more east coast artists.

Rare Footage Of Tupac Photoshoot For The ‘Makaveli’ Album (Video)

It seems like everyday there’s some rare footage of Tupac popping up on the web. Check out this newly released footage of Tupac during a photoshoot for his ‘Makaveli’ album. Oddly enough this particular photoshoot seemed kinda suspect to me with the photographer’s assistant moving the jewelry around Pac’s private area in the bathtub. If I was ‘Pac I wouldn’t have agreed to this bathtub shot. Fugazi. But then again who am I to criticize….I’m not a hip hop legend.

Common – ‘Follow Me’ (Unreleased)

Always good to hear some new and/or unreleased music from one of my favorite artists to listen to…Supposedly this joint was recorded sometime between 2003-2005 & was produced by Karriem Riggins. Big up DJ Eves at WLUW 88.7 FM in Chicago.

Unreleased: The Notorious B.I.G. – What U Want (prod by Wyldfyer)

The philly homie Wyldfyer, who’s produced for many artists such as Nas, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, & a host of other marquee artists sent this joint over to me that was supposed to appear on the Biggie Duets album when Puffy commissioned him to do some tracks for the project. Puff decided not to use this joint, but Wyldfyer was cool enough to let me drop this joint for the site. So what u want nikka?! Ennnnn…joyeeeeeee!
