TLC – “Way Back” feat. Snoop Dogg

TLC taking a page from the De La and getting their funding up front, en masse, straight from the fans (read: instead of some ‘label’). They did a Kickstarter for the LP joint they are jumping off in June (the 30th to be precise). And to all the purists, don’t worry. TLC is T-Boz, Chilli, and Left Eye (RIP); no replacement singer from reality TV or otherwise. This album will be their last, so savor it. For a taste of what’s to come, start with this “Way Back” (featuring Snoop Dogg).

VH1: CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story (Biopic) [Video]

The movie heard about ’round the Internetz… aka CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story was on VH1 a couple nights ago. VH1’s biopic starred Keke Palmer, Drew Sidora, and Lil’ Mama depicted the R&B trio’s (e.g. Chili, T-Boz, and Left Eye) real life which traces their highs and lows in the music industry (and in their lives as a result). Some incredible insights and ‘wow’ in the movie to be certain – especially singer-turned-exec Pebbles portrayed as the ultimate ‘Industry Rule Number 4,080’ type, being real shady with regard to TLC’s early career. As far as validity: CrazySexyCool had the help and blessing of two surviving members of TLC (R.I.P. Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes) who appear at the end of the film, performing their new single “Meant To Be”). Most social network posts the night the movie’s premiere were pretty good. J. Cole – “Crooked Smile” feat. TLC (Video)

This is an impactful cut (and video) off J. Cole’s “Born Sinner” LP. “Crooked Smile” features legendary R&B act TLC. Of course, you’ll watch to the end because it’s Cole. But this one will get you! Remember to breathe midway through, and pay attention to the background music as the video draws to a close. American law enforcement should reconsider a lot of things. Deep.
