Feature Presentation: Man On Hoverboard Delivers The 2017 Portuguese Cup Final Game Ball To The Official (Video)

Dear real American football: You took an L for this round. Have you SEEN this technical extracurricular activity they had poppin’ at the football (okay futbol, happy?)?? A hoverboard pilot delivered the soccer game ball to the official like a f#cking superhero (well, supervillain, if you go the Green Goblin route)!

The match ball for the 2017 Portuguese Cup final was delivered to the referee by a man on a drone. The man rode the spider-like drone around 70m in driving rain before landing by the match official near the halfway line and handing the ball over. Benfica won the game 2-1, beating Vitória de Guimarães and completing their 11th league and cup double.

Even if you aren’t into this kind of ball, you gotta admit that this clip is baaaallinnnn’!

Lexus Unveils It’s Brand New “Hoverboard” (Video)

Other hoverboard vids we’ve posted to date have been less than or different than what sci-fi has us expecting – like not that ‘real’ Marty McFly board we’ve been looking forward to. But this video is showing skateboarders riding and getting dumped, grinding rails and making jumps! Hey, if it walks, talks and squawks like a duck, it must be, right? Oh wait, this thing can ride across water??? Sh!t it can ‘hover’ like a duck? Incredible!

We’ve made the impossible, possible: The Lexus Hoverboard is here… The Lexus Hoverboard represents true innovation and imagination, together pushing the boundaries of technology even further.

Catalin Alexandru Duru Sets New Guinness Record For Hoverboard Flight (Video)

The hoverboard is real. You know that from our posts here. We just don’t have a commercially viable product to buy and use…yet. But that doesn’t mean we cannot set and break a few records in the meantime, right?

Enter Catalin Alexandru Duru. The Canadian inventor designed and built his own hoverboard. Then he broke the distance record for hoverboard flight. Yeah, Guinness Book has a record for that. Duru traveled a distance of 275.9 m (905.2 ft). He only had to travel a distance of over 50 m (164 ft) to break the record.

Showoff.

Tony Hawk Hoverboard (Video)

Alright, the last viral hoverboard video was a hoax, and Tony Hawk was in on it. But this ish right here… apparently the real deal. Arx Pax has invented the world’s first hoverboard (called the “Hendo”). Four hover engines on the bottom of the Hendo Hoverboard help produce a magnetic field over a conductive surface like aluminum or copper, causing the futuristic machine to hover an inch above ground. Top speed: 15 mph (according to TMZ).

Technology: The World’s First Hoverboard (Video)

Okay, you’ve seen some really cool hoverboard demos that were actually cool feats at film technology (e.g. camera tricks, with famous actors ‘witnessing’ the hovering). This ain’t that. This is Hendo Hover’s genuine Kickstarter video. The future is now.

Coolest line: “The wheel may finally have some competition.”

…And the founders promise those who ‘kick in’ will get a ‘starter’ kit; allowing them to demo the technology themselves (not the board, but a ‘white box’ hoverer that shows what the board will accomplish). Watch above. Follow the link to help fund the campaign (below).

Technology: Scientists Are Able To Move Metal Discs Using Nothing But Light (Video)

Japanese scientists at Aoyama Gakuin University are working to make traveling via hoverboard a less-distant ‘Back to the Future’ future reality. In a breakthrough, the researchers have developed a way to move magnetically levitated graphite discs with nothing but laser light. Watch the clip above, and be amazed, McFly!
