The dopeness down south is out, courtesy of Birmingham (Alabama, USA) crew The Green Seed. Great expo by Isabel Imperatore of Spin magazine online who declares that they “plant a new D.A.I.S.Y. Age on their refreshing, socially conscious debut effort “Drapetomania.” The Green Seed consists of frontmen R-Tist and C.O.M.P.L.E.T. with dual turntablers DJ FX and DJ Jeff-C back ’em up with the boom-bap break beats and soul samples. The result, a respectful revisitation to classic backback rap stylings with a 21st century spin. Rhyming about everything from the uber-pervasive Internet to Jude Law, The Green Seed gives you pretty much everything you need in their 13-track offering.
