R&B/Alternative: Frank Ocean – “Wiseman”

Frank Ocean created this song “Wiseman” specifically for the “Django Unchained” film that comes out tomorrow starring Jamie Foxx. Unfortunately director Quentin Tarantino says he was unable to find an adequate scene for the song to fit in the film so it was excluded. Frank Ocean appeared to express no hard feelings via his tumblr page as he mentioned that he thought the film was still “ill” without his song. He also has the words to the song posted on his tumblr page too if y’all want to peep it here. It’s a shame because the song sounds & feels very good. Deeply great emotional song where a large part of the beauty is in the songwriting.

I’m a big fan of Freddie Joachim’s work & he consistently keeps the quality coming. I can listen to his soulful & jazzy soundscapes for months & never get tired of them. That’s the definition of timeless. His latest project “Fiberglass Kisses” is out now & my favorite song “Keep Lovin” featuring North Carolina songstress Carlitta Durand stays on repeat in my itunes. This new joint right here he released called “Morning Calm” is just that….relaxing. Had this one on repeat several times after I first listened to it & felt I’d share it with y’all below. Trust me…it’s perfect.

Super-producer Soulpersona tapped singer/songwriter Princess Freesia to lace this track with raw uncut vocals. The result, “Cocaine,” was apparently held off “The Lapdancer” album (by Soulpersona and Princess Freesia) at iTunes right now – though their streaming site says otherwise. Why isn’t it on the iTunes version? Dunno. But we got it for you here.

It’s funny how when music is so timeless that you don’t quite take notice of the years that by when enjoying good music. Every now & then I turn back to listen to Bilal’s 2010 album ‘Airtight’s Revenge’ on on my iphone/itunes with some frequency. It’s hard to believe he just dropped this new single “Back To Love” for his upcoming project because the previous album was good enough to hold most of us over. Look out for the Philly soul singer’s upcoming album “A Love Surreal” right before Valentines day dropping February 12th. Kid Cudi – “Teleport 2 Me” (Video)

This Kid Cudi music video for his single “Teleport 2 Me” was a hard find. The single is off his experimental alternative Hip-Hop album “WZRD” – a collaboration with Dot Da Genius. The song was out a good while ago, but the video only recently got put out. Then… it started disappearing from video and blog sites. Strange. Oh, well… The video, directed by Walter Robot, is a conceptually deep wailing tune about Cudi missing his mate; and that comes through in the scenes – Kid Cudi going on a trippy journey from his room, into the wilderness, into outer space (more like ‘other’ space) and back… It’s a surreal experience. Note: Cleveland’s own Cudi has an album entitled “Indicud” coming out soon (early 2013). So soon, that it may make this “Teleport” experience a distant memory. Get some of this now though, because it’s definitely dope!
