Frank Ocean – “Lost” (Video)

One my favorite songs from Frank Ocean off of his latest album “channelORANGE” was the uptempo banger called ‘Lost’. I’ve had this song & the second half of ‘Pyramids’ on repeat thousands of times over the past few months. Glad to see that just like the ‘Pyramids’ record they decided to move on a visual to “Lost” as well. Check out the brand new video directed by Francisco Soriano as they capture live performance video of the R&B singers travels around the world.

R&B: Frank Ocean – Eyes Like Sky

Frank OceanFrank Ocean had this single that was supposed to make the “Channel Orange” project. Didn’t. All good though. You get to experience it here.

Alternative: Frank Ocean – “Novacane” (LAKIM Edit)

Novacane Artwork by Andre PowerLAKIM puts his spin on “Novacane” by Frank Ocean. Remember when we posted on Young Guru speaking on how modern music gets made by taking-and-remaking? This is that… in the best and most classic way! Good trance music refixx for weekend vibing. Respect to DJ Rahdu over at BamaLoveSoul for hipping us to this.

R&B/Alternative: Frank Ocean – “Wiseman”

Frank OceanFrank Ocean created this song “Wiseman” specifically for the “Django Unchained” film that comes out tomorrow starring Jamie Foxx. Unfortunately director Quentin Tarantino says he was unable to find an adequate scene for the song to fit in the film so it was excluded. Frank Ocean appeared to express no hard feelings via his tumblr page as he mentioned that he thought the film was still “ill” without his song. He also has the words to the song posted on his tumblr page too if y’all want to peep it here.  It’s a shame because the song sounds & feels very good. Deeply great emotional song where a large part of the beauty is in the songwriting.

Frank Ocean – “Pyramids” (Video)

Brand new video for the new single “Pyramids” off of Frank Ocean’s “Official” debut album “Channel ORANGE” that’s out right now. The Nabil directed video features a cameo from John Mayer & a few short clips of female nudity that may not be safe for work….

R&B/Soul: Frank Ocean – “Sweet Life”

New joint! “Sweet Life” is another hit from Frank Ocean. This cut will appear on “Channel Orange,” Frank Ocean’s debut album due out July 17, 2012. This man makes GREAT music; say what you will about him. Nah…let me revise that: If what you say is hateful…DO NOT SAY IT HERE. How about that? Just enjoy the music. I do.

R&B: Frank Ocean – “Pyramids”

New music from Frank Ocean called “Pyramids.” This 10 minute track goes through a variety of changes & transitions unlike the majority of R&B records out today.  Not surprisingly this is one of a few small details that allow Frank Ocean to standout amongst the clutter of male R&B artists trying to get a grip on the game by trying too hard without any real FEELING.  Frank’s first official debut album “Channel Orange” is due July 17th….

Frank Ocean – Live At Coachella 2012 (Video)

The Coachella festival is going down right now in Cali & Frank Ocean just performed his set for the 3 day festival. Spotted this video over at Mr. X’s spot of Frank Ocean rocking variety joints from his “Nostalgia, Ultra” project including the fan favorite “Novacane”. Frank Ocean is definitely one of my favorite new artists, but it seems like they were working out a few kinks with his band in the beginning during the performance of “Thinking About You”. It’s all good….they have time to sharpen up the live performance with the band & get things right for the future performances…..

Frank Ocean – “Whip Appeal”

Before you start thinking this is a remake of Babyface’s classic R&B record “Whip Appeal” just stop right there with that thought & simply hit play on this joint that the New Orleans born-Cali living artist just dropped via his tumbler page.  Definitely not the same thang so just enjoy….

R&B/Soul: Frank Ocean – “Thinking About You” (Official Version)

We rarely ever post songs that are all tagged up with drops & shoutouts so when this Frank Ocean joint initially hit the web we passed on posting it for those reasons. Now here’s the official radio version of the Frank Ocean’s “Thinking About You” minus the tags & with some tweaks to the actual song by Frank himself…

R&B/Soul: Frank Ocean – “White”

This is the full version of “White”, the only solo Frank Ocean track from the upcoming Odd Future Tape Vol. 2. The song is only two minutes long but its still pretty soulful & quality work. I could honestly care less about an Odd Future album but I’m definitely anticipating the next album from Frank Ocean on the solo. Listen below to this joint & check out the lyrics to the song under the hood….

R&B/Soul: Frank Ocean – “Voodoo”

Frank Ocean let this really dope gem of a song loose on his tumbler page recently & I’ve been rewinding this joint back several times over. I believe this “Voodoo” jawn is maybe a snippet or teaser because the song is relatively short. Definitely a nice joint right here…

Frank Ocean: BBC Sound Of 2012 (Video)

In the BBC news series Sound Of 2012 their focus follows the success of New Orleans’s own Frank Ocean as they speak with him on everything from his critically successful album Nostalgia, Ultra, the video concepts for the singles on the album, his favorite places to perform like London, & crafting new music for artists like Kanye West, Jay-Z, & others.

Frank Ocean: GQ’s Rookie Of The Year (Video)

If I had to give an award for Rookie of The Year it would most likely be handed to singer, songwriter, & producer Frank Ocean. His “Nostalgia/Ultra” album has had a high volume of repeat plays with me since it dropped. Even on my flight back from Cali last weekend I was still bumping it in my headphones at one point. Frank Ocean has a very big future & he appears focused. GQ Magazine recognizes that as well. Peep the interview…

Love Ultra Mix CD by DJ Jah Prince

Love Ultra Mix CD 1 Front
As we start coming close to the 2nd year Anniversary of my R&B Radio show, I was finally ready to put out a series of mixes for my listeners. This is a thick slice of the variety of songs that I have actually MIXED on-air. For those who can’t stay up late, ‘Love Ultra’ is a Tuesday Night R&B, Soul, Urban show heard from 11:00pm to 1:00am and is syndicated in the streets of Gambia on Vibes FM 106.1. My Reggae/Dancehall fans will be surprised by this is the first of five (5) CDs that will cover my two years including artist interviews, cause WHEN I LOVE… I LOVE ULTRA!

Frank Ocean – “Swim Good” (Video)

One of my favorite songs off of Frank Ocean’s Nostalgia, Ultra project gets a new video. “Swim Good” is the latest visual from Frank Ocean & they keep coming. Frank’s videos remind me of a period in the 80s when some videos you’d have to watch several times to get the full meaning if there was one at all. Overall you’d just enjoy it because it was creative, artistic & visually interesting. I’m not mad at all……. Frank Ocean does it again! Quality!

Frank Ocean – Thinking About You (Video)

Frank Ocean is handling things the proper way when it comes to his craft. It’s like he’s mastered the art of letting his art speak for him without doing a gang of interviews & other types of buffoonery that numerous artists repeatedly do to gain attention. In this new video Frank Ocean puts on another clinic in pushing the boundaries in true artistic expression beyond the 100s of R&B videos lacking creatively.

R&B: Frank Ocean – ‘Dying For Your Love’ feat. James Fauntleroy

There was a slight twitter controversy with these two artists after Frank Ocean was offended with Chris Brown comparing him to singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy. Frank Ocean may have thought it was a diss, but he may have been unaware that James Fauntleroy wrote many of Chris Brown’s hits. It’s evident that things have been cleared up & it’s all love now as they have this new track together.
