Once again, the SV rocked this beat by Jay Dee righteously! And don’t let the visuals touring the city distract y’all. Bilal backing ’em up with the silky croons and overdubs concealing lots of slick talk. This is off that “Yes” album (linked below).
(Head so good it ought to be illegal… What?! Where is she?)
Watch it. This one from Bilal is out there. And you realize it real quick, but not as much as you think… and then… Nope! Not going to ruin it. But watch the whole thing. “Money Over Love” – with a verse from Kendrick Lamar – goes hard already. But this visual. Oh, and after watching you can follow the linkage below to get at that LP “In Another Life.”
Heat! Lyrical assist on “Pleasure Toy” (produced by Adrian Younge) provided by Big K.R.I.T. Bilal has most definitely got himself a hit track off what is sure to be an album full of them (pre-order “In Another Life” via link below). A record that holds maintains the track record, so to speak. Got a throwback feel to it; talking over the ride out portion of the track. Play it and like it.
Music video for “Satellites,” Bilal’s first single from his forthcoming “In Another Life” project produced by Adrian Younge. High concept visuals (called ‘short film,’ not just a ‘video’) directed Hans Elder. Album due out on June 30, 2015, but you can pre-order the full-length via the link that follows.
Adrian Younge Has A Conversation With Odell While In Atlanta For His 1st Performance As A DJ (Video)
How many producers do you know that can say they have worked one on one with the likes of Bilal, Ghostface, Souls Of Mischief and the Delfonics? Well the only one that comes to mind is Adrian Younge who was recently in Atlanta for his first DJ performance and ArtByOdell sat down with him for an exclusive interview. They talked about what inspires his musical process what he thinks of today’s R&B and what new albums he has coming out. He shares with us a great piece of information that he will have 4 albums out by the end of 2015 listen to find out who they are with and what the titles are!
“The level of execution of older music compared to music of today. By bringing in a Horn section, or just literally having a song arranged with complex chords and a bridge with ill structures rather than just noise put together for a Stripper to dance to.” – Adrian Younge
Another mix of music from the Love Ultra Radio Show with DJ/Host Jah Prince including new music from Vado, Raheem DeVaughn, Bilal, K’La featuring Nas, Chrisettle Michele featuring Wale and Fantasia. Another surprise is “I Do” Olivia featuring French Montana.
It’s funny how when music is so timeless that you don’t quite take notice of the years that by when enjoying good music. Every now & then I turn back to listen to Bilal’s 2010 album ‘Airtight’s Revenge’ on on my iphone/itunes with some frequency. It’s hard to believe he just dropped this new single “Back To Love” for his upcoming project because the previous album was good enough to hold most of us over. Look out for the Philly soul singer’s upcoming album “A Love Surreal” right before Valentines day dropping February 12th. If you haven’t copped The Retrospection mixtape he released that we posted earlier you can download it for free from the link below.

I’ve been up on Germany’s Joy Denalane for a few years now, but new songs from her don’t pop up that often from the multilingual soul singer since the 2006 release of her “Born & Raised” project. It was her standout track “Change” featuring Lupe Fiasco that really caught my attention coincidentally after I had returned back to Atlanta from a trip visiting with friends in Germany. Her solo appearances & collaborations are still rare releases but she still pops up every now & then on joints with fellow R&B artists like Dwele & Bilal as well as popping up on a few rap artists & producer based projects like on Virginia’s NOTTZ song “How Long Will It Last” from his “You Need This Music” album two years ago. So with her relative absence in releasing any new material for a few years it was surprise to see OKP premier this new remix from Seattle based producer Jake One. Joy Denalane is set to drop a brand new project on April 3rd entitled “Maureen” which apparently has a much deeper significance other than it just being her middle name. It’s makes even more sense considering the early reports that the album has a dark bluesy & soulful edge to it that is quite difficult to fully categorize. Looking forward to some more goodness with this….We’ve waited long enough

There have been a few remixes I’ve heard to tracks off of Bilal’s ‘Airtight’s Revenge’ album that dropped almost a year ago. This one right here sounds just as dope as the original version to me yet totally different aurally speaking. Nevertheless it’s dope to have a good remix to breathe new life into Bilal’s project for those people who may have slept.
The song itself appears on Bilal’s ‘Love For Sale’ Album
