This Thanksgiving In Theaters: Tom Hanks Asks, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” (Trailer)

Best. Casting. EVER! Get your issue of tissues, because the sweet memories of Mister Rogers alone might bring a tear to your eyes. Just imagine what is gonna happen when the Oscar-winning Tom Hanks brings him back to life on the big screen.

Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor.

Good story to tell. Guaranteed good ticket for a film to tug at the heartstrings.

‘Officer Clemmons’ Speaks On Being Black In “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” (Video)

Then I found this Great Big Story on ‘Officer Clemmons’ on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. So wonderful!

Remember Officer Clemmons, the policeman from “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood?” Actor Francois Clemmons was initially reluctant to take the role. Growing up in the late ’60s, Clemmons didn’t have a positive opinion of the cops at the time. But Fred Rogers convinced him, and Clemmons became one of the first Black actors to have a recurring role in a children’s TV program.

You gotta watch this story and check for the “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” documentary on HBO or on-demand on YouTube. Well worth watching!
