Lil Wayne’s Record Sales Of ‘The Carter IV’ Exposes Problem with Hip Hop Pundits & Influencers

Lately there’s been a huge uproar from hip hop journalists & bloggers who are in disbelief about Lil Wayne’s record sales numbers of his new ‘Carter IV’ album.  First of all sales don’t determine if an album is good or not, but many critics are still making a big deal of it especially considering many of these said critics were still in a celebratory mood following the release of the first week sales figures of Kanye & Jay-Z’s  Watch The Throne album.  Although I’m not much of a Lil Wayne fan, I don’t think his first week sales numbers of over 940,000 are too far off based on the diverse group of fans that Weezy has.   Lil Wayne’s fans cross a wide variety of demographics from teenage girls, skateboarders, hipsters, hood fellas, hip hop heads, rockers, & maybe even sports fans.  If you’ve been fortunate to travel to other countries like I have over the years you would know that Lil Wayne is more popular than Jay-Z in many places.  I’ve seen it & I’ve also interviewed fans about their favorites.  Check out the  article below from writer Hyun Kim as he adequately breaks down the reason for Lil Wayne’s success with sales of the Carter IV album.  His article is the most intelligent, researched, fact based & thorough assessment as to WHY sales of the Carter IV did better than Jay-Z & Kanye West’s Watch The Throne album which was heavily supported by many of the same critics.

DJ Khaled’s Single With Drake Called ‘I’m On One’ Should Include Talib Kweli (Opinion)

When I first heard this song I thought it was a good R&B record for Drake, but later I found out it was for DJ Khaled’s upcoming album. I haven’t been a fan of DJ Khaled’s recent projects because they had the terrible distinction of being & sounding completely the same from the concepts to the audio soundscapes. From the looks of this video DJ Khaled can recognize like I can that Drake gave him a hit record with this song. It’s easy to see why DJ Khaled is going all out with a full promotional campaign with ‘I’m On One’ theme, but I can’t help but think about Talib Kweli rocking with ‘I’m On One’ earlier this year. Maybe they should find someway to do a full on R&B remix with Talib Kweli doing a verse in some way. Maybe put Talib Kweli on an extended remix or something to those type of fans. Many people probably wouldn’t like that, but I think you should show some type of props to Talib Kweli for rocking with that phrase & song this year first. In case you’re slow I’ve included the link to Talib Kweli’s record from his Gutter Rainbows album below….

Chris Brown – ‘Look At Me Now’ feat. Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne (The Karmin Remix Cover) (Video)

Yo I was ready to laugh & clown at this joint because I thought it would be similar to one of those rap parodies like the acoustic version of ‘Straight Out Of Compton’ that Nina Gordon covered, but instead of laughing I was left in awe. This girl Karmin killed this cover of Chris Brown’s ‘Look At Me Now’ featuring Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne.  95% of rap artists can’t keep up with the nimble lyrical flow of  Busta Rhymes in any capacity but this chick right here kills it! Rappers need to step their game up because anytime an assumed novice like this chick Karmin can body a flow as well as Busta then the game truly is over.  Wow!!! Check out the original joint with Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes, & Weezy under the hood for comparison……

Flashback: Lil Wayne Kissing Birdman On Rap City May 2002 (Video)

I remember seeing this when it first aired with Lil Wayne & Baby kissing on national television. I was caught off guard & when I told people who missed this episode of BET’s Rap City they didn’t believe me. With everything going on with DJ Mister Cee as of late I’m wondering if more gay rappers or entertainers will eventually be forced out come out of the closet. SHEEHZ!
