This mixtape was released on DJ Premier’s birthday (March 21). Please take a moment to appreciate one of our best! This mix was originally performed live for the Devil’s Pie DJ Premier Tribute party on March 21, 2012. Devil’s Pie is a soul party focused on the curation of timeless music through skillful djing. It occurs every Thursday at the Wolf & Crane Bar in the Little Tokyo neighborhood of Los Angeles.

DJ Premier debuted this banger on his Sirius XM radio show last night & when I heard it I was going nuts over the ill track & accompanied by the lyricism & flow from both Fat Joe & Action Bronson. This joint bangs! It’s a nice little treat before the ‘Don Cartegena’ aka ‘Joey Crack’ is set to release his “Darkside 3” project in the very near future before he goes on a short vacation for income tax evasion. In the meantime I’m gonna bang this joint out on my radio show tonight because this is what that gritty real hip hop is supposed to sound like. Fiyah!

We’ll always love Big Poppa… even more so over a Primo (aka DJ Premier) track!
March marks the passing of the lauded rapper Notorious B.I.G. (aka Biggie) and to honor his legacy, New York resident DJ Finesse debuted a special tribute mix during DJ Premier’s Sirius/XM show “Live From Headqcourterz” on March 8. This extended mix (longer than the debut) showcases Biggie a capellas paired with Premier-produced beats, with a special intro by Primo himself.
