R&B: Raphael Saadiq – “I’m In Like”
Wowwww!! This song – “I’m In Like” by Raphael Saadiq – is so dope! What can I say, the man is right:
‘This is a song for my friends who want to vibe out to a joint that makes you feel right! No bells, whistles or pretense, just a beautiful song … life in motion. If you wanna sit in the house, ride the Bart, Subway, Metro (or other public transpo), put your headphones on and roll out! That’s what I like to do after I write a song … roll out to it. Enjoy.’

Do not attempt to send us a message about the correct spelling of “Jewelry”…..Raekwon makes it clear with this brand new free ep he just served up to the fans that the correct spelling for his musical recipe is “Jewlry”. Who cares. All that matters is if Shallah Raekwon is continuing to hit us with that heat. Considering producers like Scram Jones, Buckwild, Statik Selektah & more are involved this should then you know the audio diamonds are gonna be shining. Checkout this free 12-song offering from one of the senior Wu-Tang generals as he gives us an appetizer before his upcoming album “F.I.L.A.” later this year. Dawn Richard – “86” (Video)
Dawn Richard is criminally slept-on & many people around the world need to wake the hell up. I’ve been singing the praises of this talented woman for a while now. This “86” record that we posted back in October has been in my personal rotation of hot joints in my itunes playlists that I often keep on repeat. When I first heard it I played it back about 10 times in a row. Clearly I was in need of some more joints of that quality. After a few delays her new album “GoldenHeart” , which features this very dope “86” joint just dropped . For now just check out another one of Dawn’s very creative videos for the new single go cop the album. Simply Awesome.

Reggae: KES The Band – Tuesday On The Rocks (Video)
This video really needs no explanation but it is DEFINITELY full of playful fun and females that compares to a commercial you might be watching on the Bravo channel or NBC. We salute Bambino Musik and Justin “Jus Bus” Nation on their “Gyal Season Riddim” Project. #COOLandRELAX

R&B/Alternative: Willow Smith – “Sugar & Spice”
When I saw a 1 or 2 people tweet about Willow Smith’s new song “Sugar & Spice” I immediately dismissed it thinking it was some bubble gum pop song from the 12-year-old daughter of Will & Jada. When I finally got around to hearing it I was deeply surprised for a variety of reasons. For one I realized the music she chose as her backdrop comes from one of my favorite Radiohead songs off of their 2011 “King Of Limbs” album called “Codex”. The second thing that was glaringly apparent was the writing, lyrics, & vocal arrangement was perfect & it felt deeply personal. The third thing running through my mind had me asking myself if this little 12-year-old girl is crying out for help. Deep.

Big Boi Talks About What He Might Have Been: Kid Shrink, Coke Kingpin, Comic Collector (Video)
In this Fuse TV ‘Intimate Interview,’ Big Boi talks about some revealing stuff… why he doesn’t have many scars today (too damn poor as a kid to even have a bike to fall off). And he touches on some sweet memories…. like dorky collections he had as a kid. But he manages to keep it ultra light; no sob stories. In fact, the reflective & at times ‘sad’ piano music used in this interview is hilarious in itself…Hahaaa!

Justin Timberlake – “Suit & Tie” feat. Jay-Z (Prod. By Timbaland)
New music from Mr. Bringing Sexy Back aka Justin Timberlake. Snazzy production by one of his go-to guys, Timbaland, and a verse from the Jigga Man. Wait-what? Okay… The song seemed okay on its own. Not sure why a Jay-Z verse was needed, but you got that in there, too. Stream/download the single “Suit & Tie” right here.

Public Enemy – “Everything” (Video)
Public Enemy frontman Chuck D has been speaking for the people for decades through his group’s music. While the majority of rap artists’ music in the mainstream today seems cloudy in focus, execution, & content, the group from Strong Island hasn’t lost any focus. The official 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductees isn’t going to let nothing slow them down with their new video “Everything” off of their “Evil Empire Of Everything” album. In the clip they let the people speak through Chuck D’s booming voice. The great thing about this song is PE reminds people that you are valuable even if it appears that you don’t have “Everything” popular culture tries to tell you that you’re nothing without.

Big Boi Politics: 1/2 Of Outkast Speaks On Why He Didn’t Vote For President Barack Obama (Video)
If you follow Big Boi on twitter like I do then you should already have an idea of his political views. Personally I find myself having more in common with Big Boi’s political views than most people which is one of the primary reasons I do follow him on twitter. I don’t follow many artists on twitter unless they do have something significant to say or if they are able to bring my attention to something important other than “entertainment”.  I’m an independent & I agree with many of the views of the Libertarian party although I don’t have any political affiliations with ANY political party. In the last presidential election my views fell in line more with candidates like Jill Stein or Gary Johnson more than President Barack Obama, but unfortunately the way the American political process works it was clear to me Jill Stein & Gary Johnson didn’t have a shot at actually winning. Although more independent voices are cropping up over the past decade the reality is until there are significant campaign reforms, independent candidates many never have a real shot. In an ideal world I would have voted for either of those two, but I feel wasting a vote on a candidate that is unable to actually win played a huge part in my personal decision & voting for Mitt Romney was entirely out of the question. In a recent interview on HuffPost Live, Big Boi sets the record straight for people who “assumed” he voted for President Barack Obama in addition to a few other hot button topics. Check out more of the interview in the videos below after the jump…..
