Food/Business: Slutty Vegan Levels Up From A Food Truck To A Restaurant In Westview, Atlanta (Video)

This PINKY, nyuh!!

Well, it is her dream; still going and growing strong. Now she has a brick-and-mortar location to serve her patrons. Apparently, Slutty Vegan’s meatless fare with a flare is in high demand. In the South, where we kill and fry everything that won’t defend itself or run, that is quite an accomplishment!

So, I Googled up an Atlanta Eater article on the situation for the numbers: over 1200 served the first day at Westview AND the ‘Gram is on pace to reach 100K followers ASAP.

Impressive, Pinky. Impressive!

Oh, I learned of all this when I saw the homie BigDee noting on his FB timeline that he waited in line for upwards of two hours at the new restaurant to order. Hope it was worth it. Scratch that. Bet your pockets it WILL be worth it if Mr. McRib-Over-Every-Sandwich is willing to wait that long… unless Dee comes back over here and comments otherwise.

Rooting for you, Pinky!

Comedian Katt Williams Speaks On Undeserved Fame Of Some Comedians And Roasts Co-Host Wanda Smith (Video)

On V-103’s Frank and Wanda In The Morning, Emmy-winning actor/comedian Katt Williams lit up the airwaves, sharing nuclear-hot takes on some of today’s top comedians, including Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, Jerrod Carmichael, and Hannibal Buress. Watch as Williams calls some ugly, questions others’ talents, and suggests that race and colorism play roles in who Hollywood hires and why.

Yeah yeah. All that… but that’s not what made this thing go viral. When co-host Wanda Smith jumped over the fence and got in the middle of the melee. That’s when Katt’s scattered shots found focus. He got off all the other comedians and fanned all flame on Wanda. Too-hot-for-radio flames. So hot that [reportedly] the Smith men (her husband and sons) found Katt at a comedy club later and pulled a GUN on dude.

Wow. File this under ‘sticks and stones may break bones BUT HOW ABOUT WORDS ALMOST GETTING A COMIC SHOT OVER DISSING A MAN’S WIFE ON AIR!?

Watch. But only if you can stand the HEAT! Katt goes IN… smooth & vicious like. That said, he does make some good points…

(Hit the jump to see what Tiffany Haddish had to say via Twitter.)

Being a White Student At A Historically Black College (Documentary)

“I feel like I belong here if I’m putting in the work. It’s that simple.”

Whew. When he asked dude, “Do you feel like you really belong here?” Tiago answered like that. VICE does it again! Really digs into this perspective of a White student attending an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities).

On this episode of ‘MINORITY REPORTS,’ we met up with Tiago, a White freshman at Morehouse College, an HBCU in Atlanta that counts Martin Luther King, Jr. and Spike Lee as alumni.

We sat down with him to hear why he decided to enroll in the school, asked his peers for their thoughts on having white students on campus, and followed along as he showed us what it’s like to be one of very few non-black students at school.

Now, if you are even thinking about reducing this topic to ‘any student can go anywhere’… Let’s not waste your time. Come back in an hour or something. This is deep exploration like VICE documentaries do. Gonna stay? Okay, press play.

Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium Opens College Football With Alabama Vs. Florida State (Video)

In every good way, it was a great kickoff for the new home to Atlanta football, Mercedes-Benz Stadium… and a bit ‘greater’ if you are a Crimson Tide fan. A good look on TV and it looked like an epic event was being enjoyed by those fortunate enough to be at the FSU vs. UA game live. Very unfortunate late game injury to FSU Seminole quarterback Francois though.

Watch the game highlight reel above.

BLIZM – “Salt & Pepper” Ft. Jebron [Video]

I used to tease my father & uncles about their gray hairs when I was younger.  My pops would let me know that it’s a blessing to get up in age and have some salt & pepper going on. Looks like BLIZM has embraced that fact of being a little older and wiser rather than trying to act like someone 20 years his age.  If you reside in Atlanta like myself you probably recognize BLIZM for his K-100 online station.  He makes sure that K-100 is at live events on a constant basis.  He has put the same effort into his music that he does his radio station.  “Salt & Pepper” is a nice soulful Hip Hop groove with Jebron singing the hook! Well remember how I stated I once teased my father about gray hairs I now celebrate having some Salt & Pepper in my beard.  So I got some of this wisdom on deck when you see me and BLIZM has some as well.

Definition Of A Down A** Chick: Miko Grimes (Video)

Full disclosure: I really did not know who Miko Grimes was. Not important. Her eventual husband did, and while we might infer that things weren’t always heavenly, hearing her talk about how she rides for him… man… intense! Might even say HOT. Something very ’90s Hip-Hop about this Gangsta Chick. Gotta admit that I like it. Even though I know she’s a handful.

Okay, two handfuls (wink). Do you SEEEEE that top? Fitting her where she’s so gifted. Wowzers!

Suffice it to say, Miko Grimes is the business. But she is well-informed and about her business, so you really gotta hope her man (husband, Brent Grimes, pro ball player) stays on point. Miko’s outspoken on some of everything: from the treatment of NFL players, shutting down groupies and hangers-on, and much more (as shown in the sit-down vid above).

Regarding career ups & downs for her former Falcon, then former Dolphin, hubby Brent, Miko gives her side of those goings down, too. Again I say WOW. Of course, I know Miko would absolutely DESTROY me (I’d fall too hard and stay down). But ohhhh, what a way to go!

Unity Sound – “Dancehall Mood 11” (Mixtape)

Unity Sound with the wind up & down for the long weekend set. It’s the “Dance Mood 11” mix. Described as Dancehall with a twist of Pop, it’s euphoric listening if you catch a vibe from this genre of music. At the least, it is great background music (with touches of Hip-Hop and R&B in there, too) for whatever shindig go to or throw for two… or more. Enjoy!
