J Haze – Please Drink Responsibly (Video)
The homie & dope producer J. Haze drops a new video for his latest Thuglife JugLife project that just dropped. This joint “Please Drink Responsibly” is one of my favorite songs off of the largely instrumental based project as he flips a classic R&B joint that shouldn’t be too hard to figure out. Representing 1/2 of the Dynamite Bruhz production team, Haze’s 12-track JugLife project that is the soundtrack to the jug movement. All drinkers from casual to social are invited to grab a jug of their favorite liquor and relax to Haze’s blend of soulful beats with featured guests introducing people to their way of life, the “JugLife”. His production credits include Focus…, Sha Stimuli, Boog Brown, Stanza, Rapsody, Draft, Blctxt, Tommy Nova, Phene, Niara & J. Nolan.

Big K.R.I.T. – “4eva N A Day” (Mixtape)
The producer & rap artist Big K.R.I.T.’s mixtape may have taken “4evanaday” with all the delays & all, but it’s finally here for fans who’ve been waiting on the Mississippi cat to drop some more gems on us in 2012. Big K.R.I.T. Rides “4eva N A Day” With Maurice Garland (Video)
A day before Big K.R.I.T.’s anticipated project “4eva N A Day” was about to drop, the homie Maurice Garland hopped in the whip with the Mississippi producer & emcee to listen & review the project. The best way to listen to new music in my opinion is to ride around in the car with it so this is perfect.
48 Hours With Diddy (Video)
I remember my homie Laquan was assigned to drive Diddy around in Atlanta a few times & he said he asked “Mr. Ciroc bwoy” himself how does he do it all. Mr. Combs’ response was… “Just don’t stop. I don’t stop. I’m always moving at 100 miles an hour all the time”. Check out this video of Diddy performing at a concert, hosting parties in NY & at a Connecticut casino, hitting NBA All-Star Weekend in Florida, & eventually flying out to the L.A. for the Oscars all in a matter of 48 Hours.
Pill – “All On Me” (Video)
Pill should have dropped a video like this when he was still messing with Rick Ross’s MMG label. Many fans are not in the immediate circle to entirely know what happened over there at MMG, but even if Pill dropped this joint on his own somehow while still under Maybach Music Group it would have still been a great look for him. If this would have dropped when he was under the MMG umbrella it would have simply given him way more momentum in my opinion. “All On Me” sounds decent off of his latest mixtape “The Epidemic” & the video is high quality. Can’t look back but moving forward this is a pretty good looking video & I suggest Pill keep Motion Family & quality producers on deck. Just can’t allow anyone to keep you stagnant as an artist no matter where you are. Keep moving & don’t stop because ultimately we all have that epiphany where we come to the realization that it’s “All On Me” at the end of the day…

Speakerfoxxx – DopeGirl Anthems (Mixtape)
My homegirl Speakerfoxxx has been doing her thing DJ’ing around Atlanta & with Yelawolf’s ★SLUMERICAN★ crew/label & constantly gaining new ground & fans of her work. The thing that makes her pretty “dope” is her variety & knowledge of the music & crowds she can survey then satisfy rather effortlessly. It’s not uncommon to see her rocking regularly at weekly spots like the EL Bar in Atlanta, The W Hotels, private parties for cats like Justin Beiber, Ne-Yo, Danity Kane, as well as occasionally up in strip club spots like Follies in Atlanta. Her rising popularity is largely rooted in her ability to cross genres with true school hip hop, trap music, East Coast, Snap, Down South, dope boy anthems, dancehall and electronic music with such an alluring brand of gaudy sex appeal only a queen hustler from the ATL could pull off. Speakerfoxxx is also the official DJ for Gangsta Boo & Yelawolf’s Slumerican artist Rittz. With her new mixtape “DopeGirl Anthems” she takes you to the scrip clubs & beyond with the help of the “Ten-A-Key dopegirl” Gangsta Boo. Check out the complete tracklisting under the hood. I tend to listen to most strip club/dope boy anthems only when I’m in the strip clubs, but no need to go to an Atlanta ‘shake junt’ tonight because all you gotta do is call a a few “shoe models” over & let this play….

R&B/Soul: Erykah Badu- “On & On” (Adi Dick Remix)
Erykah Badu is one of my favorite R&B/Soul artists without question & it’s hard not to be inspired by her work in some shape or form. Despite her concert being banned in Malaysia, it didn’t stop fans like Adi Dick who missed her show in New Zealand from being inspired enough to craft this pretty dope remix. Spotted this piece over BamaLoveSoul & I’ve had it on repeat a few times…On & On & On….

R&B: The-Dream – “Kill The Lights” feat. Casha
Now this is a pretty good R&B jawn from The-Dream featuring his new artist Casha who’s signed to his new label RadioKilla Records. The song should appear on this upcoming album “The Love IV MMXII” later this year following this new 19-city “Kill The Lights” tour that he’s kicking off with a stop at SXSW later this month….
The-Dream Speaks On Losing Weight, Writing Songs For Women, & Being Underrated (Video)
I enjoy comedian Jack Thriller’s interviews over at ThisIs50 because he sometimes comes with off the wall questions or commentaries that make the interviews a little more enjoyable. In this particular interview he speaks with Atlanta based singer, songwriter, & producer The-Dream discussing everything from his dramatic weight loss, not wanting to be a star, writing songs for women, & being underrated….
Mac Miller – “Definition Of Cool” feat. Diggy (Prod. By Big Jerm)
Mac Miller let loose two new joints over the weekend with “Loud” & this new one that just leaked via UHTN called “Definition Of Cool” featuring Diggy. The beauty in this track lies largely in the production of Big Jerm in addition to both Mac Miller & Diggy’s playful wordplay. I’m also feeling Diggy bringing out the cool ‘Slick Rick’-type British flow on this as well. Checked Mac Miller’s twitter page so it’s not clear due to the lack of info if the song is supposed to appear on Mac Miller’s upcoming “Macadelic” project. Not everything Mac Miller has done “commercially” fits what I personally like, but when he drops true school joints like these I’m almost 100% happy with it every time.

Styles P – “Hoody Season”

Wiz Khalifa – “Morocco”
Never got around to posting this song from Wiz Khalifa called “Morocco” when it initially leaked a little over a week ago. I believe it will appear on his upcoming Taylor Allderdice mixtape. Coincidentally I’m set to go to Morocco for the first time ever this year on an educational trip & this song will definitely be added to my itunes “Morocco” playlist that I’ll be bumping through my headphones for the flight. This is definitely not a hardcore lyrical rap record from Wiz, but it just sounds good to me overall & that’s all that matters.
Obie Trice – “Spend The Day” feat. Drey Skonie
Detroit emcee Obie Trice teamed up with VIBE for the world premiere release of his latest single from his upcoming album “Bottoms Ups”. The new album will officially drop April 3rd & will feature appearances from Dr. Dre as well as his former label boss & Detroit native Eminem. This joint kinda knocks & the singer Drey Skonie provides a nice vibe on this joint too…..
Rich Kidd – “Back In The Day” (Video)
My homie Fudge occasionally puts me up on artists from time to time but usually I’m at least aware of most of the cats he believes are worthy of checking out. This time around he sent me this video of Toronto artist Rich Kidd. I’m usually up on the majority of artists making moves around the country, but I have to admit I wasn’t too familiar with Rich Kidd because most of his moves were largely being made behind the scenes in his native Canada & abroad. Through some further investigation I discovered that Rich Kidd wasn’t just an emcee, but is a multi-talented producer, rapper, song-writer, & video director who has worked with the likes of Drake, Nelly Furtado, Busta Rhymes, M.O.P., & many others within the last few years. As a radio show host I also like the fact that he provided a clean & dirty version of the audio to this joint which shows to me that this guy is definitely on point about his business. Check out his new video for this pretty dope “Back In The Day” song that was just released….

Underexposed: Indie Hip Hop In Atlanta (Video)
The homie & dope video director Will Feagins, Jr. submitted the above video as a part of Creative Loafing’s 2012 ATL Short Cuts Film Contest. Many of us in Atlanta true school scene already know how dope Will Feagins is with the camera & he’s already won Creative Loafing’s Critics Choice Award last night, but he needs your VOTE to win “Viewers Choice” Award in the ATL Short Cuts Film contest. After you’ve watched the above video & learned something, make sure you click on the link below & take the survey…..
CREATIVE LOAFING: ATL SHORT CUTS FILM CONTEST SURVEY
Underexposed: Indie Hip-Hop in Atlanta
“Over the past two decades Atlanta’s population has exploded with a tremendous influx of transplants from cities across the nation and world, bringing with them their talents, skills, experience and individuality. As a result of its changing population, Atlanta’s indie hip-hop scene has become a large, diverse and active cross-section of artists. Yet Atlanta, as with most cities, remains to be defined primarily by its mainstream artists.
In 2009 I relocated to Atlanta with the same misconception about the independent hip-hop scene that most people have……there is only one type of artist and one style of music. I was wrong”
– Will Feagins, Jr
