9th Wonder’s go-to female emcee is back at it again! Rapsody’s work on “Good Good Love” (featuring BJ The Chicago Kid) does justice to the track no doubt. This is another single off her album, “The Idea of Beautiful” (for which we posted a download link here a while back). Nice track…different side of Rapsody, too…less rawness. It is still on the realness though – relating the struggle, strife, and sacrifice in relationships.

Emcee Alias (of OVM) and DJ/Producer Fakts One (best known as one-third of The Perceptionists, with Mr. Lif and Akrobatik) team up for “Second Chances” (due out August 7, 2012) – a digital album that apologizes 1) for the wackness some have called “Hip=Hop” over the past few years AND 2) because they “shouldn’t have left you…without a dope beat to step to” (Eric B. and Rakim…RESPECT)! Both artists took a hiatus from the industry – in large part to focus on Fatherhood, which more than trumped the prospect of “staying in the game to fight the good fight” at the time. We’ve had access to the raw feed for some time now (see earlier post here); but the version was DIRTY…and for digital download only! Fine by us. But now the brothers are expanding (read: blowing up…once again). So, they are releasing a CLEAN (e.g. radio-playable) version of the “You & What Army” EP online…along with this Teaser…ahead of a physical CD of all those joints PLUS MORE! The full-length physical CD for “You & What Army” is scheduled to drop July 17, 2012, via HiPNOTT Records.

He (with his “conscience”) delivers the chants and lyrics as though he was another instrument accompanying the haunting T-Minus track. That’s good production; and a good mix down (MixedByAli). This cut is a leak from the forthcoming release “Good Kid m.A.A.d City” (due out October 2, 2012). Take a toke of the smoke. Go ahead. You can inhale. We won’t tell.

BB King had Lucille and Yamin Semali has his beloved instrument MIDIna. In celebrating their 10th year together, Yamin penned “Never Leave,” and they (he and MIDIna) created the music for it. Is it that serious? In a word…yes! Here’s a word from 1/2 of the group Clan Destined & the solo artist Yamin formerly known as Amdex himself:
“This is probably my favorite composition thus far.  It has no samples and it is a good example of how much one can do with a small idea.  I got my MPC in 2002, so on the 10th-year anniversary, I wanted to do something special for MIDIna, since she has been such a rider.  I couldn’t have made this track, and 1000s more, without her.  I am thankful to have her.”

I like when Big Sean chooses the right tracks where you can better comprehend & appreciate his lyricism. I’ve felt that sometimes when he’s flowing over the right instrumentation, like his freestyles over J Dilla tracks, the listener can truly see that this kid from Detroit is not really a slouch lyrically. This smooth new joint “Hundred Dollar Bill Skyscraper” produced by Drumma Boy is a perfect example of a track complementing the emcee while not overshadowing him so much that he has to dumb down his flow with the ‘Wobbly Wobbly’ lyrics. It’s shaping up to be another good year for Big Sean with Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation album “Cruel Summer” on the way, his sophomore solo album, & finally connecting with his Pittsburgh homie Mac Miller for the first time on this track as they try to continue building ‘Hundred Dollar Bill Skyscrapers’ during the course of their careers….

Arizona emcee & new Atlanta resident RoQy TyRaiD drops this new joint inspired by the character “Felicia” in the classic “Friday” flick.
