CJ Hilton continues to impress me with each & every joint that he drops. Not sure if many of the songs I’ve heard from the Baltimore kid are leaks or official releases of any sort, but his type of Hip Hop soul never loses its concrete grittiness while maintaining a certain integrity to the R&B genre as evident in the lyrics & vocals. This particular joint is almost reminiscent of the vibe that D’angelo used to bring in straddling that line between R&B, Soul, & Hip Hop. This joint right here was produced by Salaam Remi who has crafted many quality joints from Nas & many others in the game. Summer is over, but you’d never know that based on the amount of heat that CJ Hilton has been consistently dropping…

One of my favorite new groups coming out of my hometown of Philly, Writtenhouse, drops a new video to one of their bangers that I’ve been running on the radio show earlier this year. My only gripe with the group is their delay in “Sticky” being only the second video from their dope album “While You Were Sleeping” that dropped back in February. There’s 14 songs on the album so I believe they could have creatively cranked out more than just two. I wished they dropped more videos throughout the course of the year to keep breathing new life into their project for those out there who are “still sleeping” on the crew from Philly…

Oh hell nahhhhhhhh!! Glad to see DJ Premier shut the young bull down with that mess. Makes you wonder how many of the other lames in the cypher this year came with ghostwritten lyrics. This is the only track with a feature on the entire album and it happens to be from Mississippi’s own Big K.R.I.T.. Not only is Big K.R.I.T. a great choice of collaborator if you’re going to limit your features, but this is also a dope track.
