The L.O.X. & Wu Tang Clan – ‘Wu-Block’ (Prod. By The RZA)

Sheek announced the Wu Block album via his twitter last year. The album is supposed to be a collaboration between Sheek and Ghostface Killah. Been quiet on all fronts until this joint hit the web. I’m definitely feeling this track. Can’t wait to see what other features come together for this joint.

J. Nic$ – A Rapper from Miami

This track has been circulating the net and I finally got around to checking this joint out. This joint has a smooth beat and J.Nic$ delivers with his flow. Check it out.

Behind The Scenes: Meek Mill x Rick Ross Bossin’ Up In North Philly (Video)

I’m proud to be from Philly & even more proud to see Meek Mill show love to other artists like Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Young Chris & others from Philly who paved the way by having them in his new video “I’m A Boss” which is also being shot by Philly’s own Benny Boom. I can’t wait to see the final product of the video since it appears that they shot alot of it in my old North Philly neighborhood.  What’s real is that during the summer it’s not unusual to see cats on the bikes & four-wheelers like this racing across the city.  Good feeling to see the unity. PSP All Day!

Clear Soul Forces – ‘Blow’

S/O to Rappers I Know for this one and always putting on for dope hip hop. This joint goes!!! Detroit’s Clear Soul Forces teams with DC’s own Best Kept Secret who are best known for their work with Wale, to makes this banger.

Mike Beatz & Adonis – ‘You Know’ feat. Guilty Simpson (Video)

Mike Beatz & Adonis are a duo that I’m just getting up on but they released a free download of their project Boom Bap that has a very impressive line up. The project features, Sha Stimuli, Guilty Simpson, Skyzoo, Royce Da 5’9, Reks, Termanology, AZ, and Wrekonize. I’m about to go through this thing heavy, the first 2 tracks are official. Check out the video for the 2nd track on the project and then D/L it HERE.

Elle Varner featuring J. Cole – “Only Wanna Give It To You”

One of the key things I’ve enjoyed about doing my radio shows, cable television, & running a blog is discovering new music & artists. I genuinely get excited to share information about talented artists & music. Elle Varner is one of those artists that I’ve just learned about, but I can tell she has some serious talent in that voice of hers.   This new single release, “Only Wanna Give It You” featuring J.Cole has the type of R&B/Hip Hop flavor I genuinely enjoy. Looking forward to hearing more from this talented singer/songwriter & all around musician who’s signed to Clive Davis’s label J. Records.

Trackademicks – “Halfway” feat. Phonte & Carlitta Durand

The Bay area producer who coined the term “Champagne Soul”, Trackademicks, links up with two North Carolina artists that we respect when it comes to new soul music  in Phonte & Carlitta Durand. In addition to his recent work with the aforementioned Foreign Exchange frontman, Trackademicks has produced an assortment of great work from artists such as J. Davey, Kid Cudi, Teedra Moses, & too many others to name. Feels like it’s a matter of time before an artistic cat like him explodes with the recognition to match his musical talent.  Trackademicks let loose this new joint “Halfway” as a teaser to his upcoming album The Champagne Room due later this year.

Cover Track: Mayer Hawthorne – “When The Night Falls”

I have to say I’m diggin’ Mayer Hawthorne’s cover of Chromeo’s 80s flavored joint “When The Night Falls” more than the original.  The track featuring Solange Knowles initially appeared on the Canadian electro funk band’s Business Casual album. Mayer Hawthorne hasn’t disappointed me with a few of his covers & remixes of joints he’s released in the past including his “G-Mix” of Snoop Dogg & The-Dream’s ‘Gangsta Love’ that I occasionally rock with on my iphone or ipod in the car. In case you missed Mayer Hawthorne’s G-Mix of Snoop’s ‘Gangsta Love’ joint I included it in this post along with the Michigan kid’s cover of the Chromeo jawn.

Young Chris – “U R” feat. Rico Love (Video)

This is one of the standout songs from Young Chris’s L.I.F.E. (Ladies In Free Everywhere) mixtape that’s out now. I’ve been playing this joint on the radio show too & it’s definitely a hit record if enough DJs jump on it too. Glad the Philly Bul’s Division 1 label head Rico Love & his team had the forward vision to shoot a video for this joint too!

Producer Talk: RZA and the Roland MV8000

This machine isnt wildly popular but its as good as any other sampler on the market. Roland has since discontinued the production of the piece but there are still plenty of MV8000 and 8800 out there for sale. I have used one plenty of times with my production patna’ AJ. Very dope machine. Listen to RZA talk about his experience with this machine and other Roland products.

Members of the Wu Tang Clan linked with Tim Westwood and got into their influences and remembering Ol Dirty Bastard.

The-Dream – “Love Slave”

Nice new R&B joint from The-Dream as he gets ready to drop his free 10-track album Terius Nash Est. 1977 on August 31st which will be followed by his retail release of The Love IV: Diary Of A Madman later this year. Apparently the free album dropping on the 31st is supposed to be his more personal work to date but supposedly Def Jam is not happy with him dropping a free project for his fans.

Slaine – ‘Offensive Lines’ feat. Action Bronson & Ill Bill

This joint is filthy. Slaine is an MC from Boston and has a new mixtape with Statik Selektah. He picked the perfect features for this beat too. It really don’t get much more gritty then Ill Bill and Action Bronson. You can check out Slaine’s mixtape State of Grace Here.
