One of my favorite albums of 2015 so far is The Good Fight by Oddisee. So when NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series invited the DC emcee to come perform some tracks off his new album I was excited. Oddisee does not disappoint with his performance backed by a live two piece band he rocks the NPR offices. Performing the tracks That’s Love, Contradiction’s Maze, and Belong to the World he got the crowd involved and sounded as clear as he does on the album. It’s refreshing to see a Hip Hop artist rock a show no frills no loud screaming and 20 people on stage and still have the crowd enthralled by the performance. Good job fighting the Good Fight Oddisee!
Oddisee Talks ‘The Good Fight’, Opportunity To Work with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath & Being True To Himself (Video)
In today’s scope of Hip Hop most artists seek out the limelight and love talking about how well they are doing. The Artist/Producer Oddisee is quite the opposite is he dedicated to his craft and concerned with being the best performer he can be absolutely. Does he concern himself with the fact he might not get certain props or being tracked down by certain rappers for beats negative. Oddisee has a new album out “The Good Fight” and it is a self produced album exhibiting some of his best work (my personal opinion). He recently sat down with Rosenberg at Hot 97 to discuss what he has been up to.

The 1978ers, made up of yU the emcee & Slimkat the producer, bring you the latest visuals for their track “Far” off of their People of Today album. The humble King yU spits lyrics that promote spreading love, embracing our unique creativity, and the idea of universal understanding through the metaphor of space and it’s vast beautiful wonder. Slimkat orchestrates the beat and director Jay Brown brings this all to life. Guest vocals by B. jamelle and you have a quality piece of production. If you like what you see and hear make sure you pick up the full length project from the link below.

This joint is a straight up banger! Been playing it on my radio show ever since it dropped. He’s 1/2 of the 1978ers, 1/3 of the critically acclaimed group Diamond District, D.C. lyricist “yU” links up with arguably one of Virginia’s illest producer Nottz! Whenever I see Nottz’ name on something I know he’s going to be killin’ it with the boom-blappers! yU does the damn thing with the appropriate subject matter & A+ lyricism to match the track as well. This joint is straight MURDA! But in a good way. Be on the lookout for Mellow Music Group’s upcoming compilation that this song appears on called “Persona” due March 10th. If you missed the Oddisee & Phonte collaboration called ‘Requiem’ we posted a few days ago, it will be on that same MMG compilation due March 10th as well.
Here we go! Diamond District let out the whole “March On Washington (Redux)” for fresh air and a little FREEdom. What that means for you: A no-risk, no-price listen to a priceless work. We linked you the way to cop below (and before). So stream for FREE and support/purchase if you like. Oddisee, Uptown XO, and yU will appreciate Y-O-U for doing so.
Can we get a ‘hell yeah’ for this Black Milk Remix of “Ain’t Over” by Diamond District??!! Hip-Hop banged out with a definitive Dirty D (Detroit, Michigan, USA) sound.
Later for any hater on this video. Super dope lyrical visual conceptual incredible. That is all. Respect to Oddisee, Uptown XO, and yU – Diamond District. We posted on their “March On Washington” project earlier (linked below). “Part Of It All”… part of that project. Video above is a must see.
(Shout to director Jay Brown and effects guy Paul Mihailoff, too!)

Latest from the

Building them bridges (I’m about that)
Expanding our vision (I’m about that)
Switch up your decisions if you want an outcome that’s different.
Yeah, you get that? You like that? Well, go get that. Ha! Oh yeah, the single is a FREE download!!
Well it’s about COTDAYAM TIME!!! One our favorite hip hop groups representing D.C. is back! I’ve been a fan ever since their first album dropped & have been waiting for the trio to regroup & drop some new bangers! With everything going on in the world right now Oddisee, yU, and X.O.’s next album ‘March On Washington’ due October 14th is an appropriate title of what’s to come. For now your ‘First Step’ should be to peep the bangin’ new single.
Damn it was less than a week ago when D.C. producer & emcee yU dropped “A Garbage Beattape” of instrumentals that was far from basura, but the brother just blessed the real heads with the first single to his upcoming album “The Earn” which is due to drop on Mellow Music Group on December 13th. This is the second solo album from the D.C. native following his debut album “Before Taxes”. Like we said before in a previous post, yU is an ill emcee & underrated producer as a soloist outside of his group Diamond District, but this time he enlists his homie SlimKat78 on the production duties. Peep out the banger below…
This performance was in DC, Oddisee has been out of the country touring but I did see the brothers tweeting that they are ready to get to work on the new Diamond District LP.
Uptown X.O. has been releasing video after video for his new project Monumental II. The tracks have been all thriller and no filler. Dope stuff.
New Video from Diamond District’s Uptown XO from his upcoming project Monumental 2. Dope concept and beat.
Diggin’ this joint from D.C. artist Uptown X.O. called ‘Don’t Stop’. This jawn is supposed to appear on his upcoming project ‘Monumental 2′ due on August 30th. Should be a dope project when it drops, but I can’t wait to hear what his group Diamond District is cooking up for their next album too.
Gods’illa are a trio of brothers from DC who you might have checked on our A3C Mixtape from 2010 other then that these guys have been all over the indie scene making dope hip hop. They are preparing to drop their CPR Blendtape which will be hosted by Erykah Badu under her DJ alias Lo Down Loretta Brown. Here is another leak from the tape that is dope.
DMV Producer, SoulFul! has got another Project to follow up the success of last year’s The Mellow Life (DOWNLOAD). His new project is called Mumbo Sauce and Drum Breaks and is slated to release Jan 31. Here is the first single featuring X.O. from Diamond District.
