BARS! Ear candy, but nothing sweet.
If you load a track with Ras Kass, Rapper Big Pooh, and Skyzoo, the lyrical content will likely hit hard enough, often enough, to kill… or at least be considered killer. Agreed? Well, whether you do or not, hit play and take these “Bars Of Death” upside the dome. Protect that neck. Lyrical lumps and bumps. Bumping beat by Creestal. A single off the “Differences” project.
So, y’all may recognize the trackmaster M16 Grammy-nominated Alabama native (Tuscaloosa, Roll Tide, that’s right) – producer of Playaz Circle’s “Duffle Bag Boy” and “I Do” by Jeezy (featuring Andre 3000). And I know followers of this site know Skyzoo. Now, about Hubbs. Nice! From what I could dig up, he’s repping Steel City (Pittsburgh, PA, USA), and he has an album coming out (“Black Privilege”) soon. So, there’s that… and more in this bio he has up on ReverbNation:
Hip-Hop artist, Hubbs, was born in Pittsburgh, PA. His mother, a native resident of the Hill District (Elmore Square) section of Pittsburgh, and father, from Cleveland, OH, moved to Penn Hills, an eastern suburb of Pittsburgh, at this time, to raise their family which also consisted of one older son. Hubbs’ primary inspiration in Hip-Hop, which peaked in the mid 90’s, was influenced by artists and groups such as Notorious B.I.G. and Nas, Jay-Z, Mobb Deep, AZ, The Lox, Wu-Tang Clan, and recalls listening to DJ Clue, Cutmaster C, Ron G, and Doo Wop underground mixtapes. As Hubbs reflects on his beginnings of rhyming, he mentions “I remember my man Sha-King approached me in 9th grade, and asked me and my man Mike if we’d be interested in being in the school talent show with him. Sha-King had been rhyming for years by that point, but Mike and I had only written rhymes on occasion, just out of hobby. But we agreed to, came up with this song over some ill instrumental with this Biggie voice sample in the hook, and killed the talent show. We were on some young don sh*t (laughs), rockin’ trench coats and suits and all that. I had the last verse, and I remember cats in the crowd goin’ nuts when I came out and spit my verse. That’s when I knew I had some talent, and also that I enjoyed rhyming and performing.”
Okay, that ought to be enough to allow you to enjoy this “Buck” joint without having to ‘act’ like you know. Haaa!
The album is gonna have mad feeling…
– Apollo Brown
Wow. How can a nine-minute mini-doc provide such depth and context? Unearthed some jewels…means, methods, motivations behind the emceeing, music-making and more. Maybe the impact hit us thusly because we are fans of the latest collab work from Apollo Brown & Skyzoo. Chances are you are, too. Or will be after watching this!
Get insight into the new album “The Easy Truth” from Detroit producer Apollo Brown and Brooklyn emcee Skyzoo.
Each is a true fan of the other. And Apollo went so far as to put that #Top5 stamp on Skyzoo. Respect due, respect paid!
Okay, we KNOW “A Couple Dollars” is a dope jawn, and so, too, is the visual. Sight unseen, it’s Apollo Brown & Skyzoo. They release nothing but heat! That’s “The Easy Truth.” But before you listen/watch this one, just dwell on this duo’s feature game as of late; and add Joell Ortiz with a lyrical sword Slaughter on this to it!
You know about that “One In The Same” banger from the bros Brown & Skyzoo already (posted on here earlier). Now they drop the entire plate, “The Easy Truth,” with appearances from Patty Crash (of course) Joell Ortiz, Stalley, Westside Gunn & Conway. Stream and get it how you live it below.
Damn, the opening to this song is perfect!
OHHHH! This is that PAIN on the track! Apollo Brown and Skyzoo – two names you gotta put RESPECT on (full correct spelling, no joke). A no-brainer that the two in concert on a track would be spectac. Well, here’s the proof. “One In The Same” (featuring Patty Crash) is a shot of that realness that will burn going down, like it’s suppose to. Hit play and get buzzed!
Max I Million does the remixes so lovely! His “Perfect Timing” redux is the perfect case in point. C.L. Smooth – with co-rhymer Skyzoo and DJ Devastate cutting the hell up – most def bless and rep on here.
Seen like a 50 inch Zenith. Believe it!
Yes! The official Westside Gunn debut album “FLYGOD” is due out next month. In the interim, you can chill with Gunn n’em (Skyzoo and producer Statik Selektah) on this “50 inch Zenith” single from the project.
How about that? Aspiration rhyming for real. I mean you got the A$AP movement with Rocky, Ferg and them. But money is at the core of that; and there’s nothing wrong about getting the paper. However, this Ron Rico from Baltimore put “Expectations” together (with Skyzoo & Dan Heely) on some be more than you can see yourself being. Reach for the stars. Feel good rhyme, in a game that us usually about self-aggrandizement, Nice.
(More on Ron Rico after the jump.)
I promise you… I neva say neva, except knowing I’m all that they neva was!
Apollo Brown is wrong for producing this beat. Dammit! So banging you will hit your head on something nodding to it. Dare you to press play. Yep, Apollo Brown blessed The Barrel Brothers (Skyzoo & Torae) who went in on the track. Then came this dope visual presentation. Whew! “Neva Eva” is on that “Barrel Brothers” album out now.
Starting off all ‘churchy’… then going HAM! This single “Cruel Intentions” is produced by South Africa’s Jakk Wonders (FKA The Militia) and features Skyzoo, Rapper Big Pooh and AWKWORD, with DJ Fonz Solo on the cuts.
100% of the proceeds from this song are being donated to the family of the late, great Earl Patrick McNease aka Praverb aka P the Wyse.
Dope! And yes, that’s DJ Prince putting ‘hands’ on the track, too (with the loops and drums). “Hands Folded Together” (featuring eLZhi) is some more street heat from the one called Skyzoo. Consider this a ‘digital bonus’ track, as the digital LP “Music For My Friends” does NOT include this jawn; only the cassette and wax, friends.
Don’t keep no Squares In Ya Circle.
Marvelous Mag with new music – “Squares in Ya Circle” (featuring Skyzoo and Brenton). The team takes on the task of doing a mellow redo of Knxwledge’s “Kafe.”
Brand new banger for the whips with the ‘Suicide Doors’ by Brooklyn emcee Skyzoo! This is that real hip hop ‘ish right here! Dope lyricism from Skyzoo & quality production from the D.C.’s own MarcNfinit. Quality setup record for when Skyzoo’s next full-length project ‘Music For My Friends’ drops on June 23rd.
“I wanted this record to really remind people of what I do as far as entendres go. The double and even triple meanings, the layering, the stacking, I wanted that be the foundation for this song. Being that the album itself is based on storytelling more so than anything else, I wanted to have at least one record where I just let it all fly.” – Skyzoo
The legendary DJ Premier continues his ‘Bars In The Booth’ series this time inviting Skyzoo x Torae to get busy over some his production. The Barrel Brothers over another DJ Premier track. Gotta Love it! On a side note DJ Premier’s legendary D&D Studios just closed down. Check out some more info from his ‘PremierWuzHere’ site.
Been playing this banger on the Beatz & Lyrics Show. Good choice for a video! Beat by Billy Loman. Fancy Baby on the chorus. Scratches by DJ Deadeye. All this on “Get Away” (featuring Skyzoo, Torae and Reks). And there’s more on Termanology’s “Shut Up And Rap” album.
