Just a lil something to celebrate the 20th and 10th anniversaries of The Notorious B.I.G.’s and The Foreign Exchange’s debut. I hope you dig what you hear…

Phonte – “No News Is Good News” (Album)

You know how folks are always saying, “This man needs no introduction”? Well, it’s true in this case, for the man (Phonte) and his unceremoniously released album (“No News Is Good News”). You already KNOW he’s dope, and so is the album. No fanfare needed. Just a few real supporters to spotlight, share and cop.

But before you do, take a [FREE] listen to some teasers from the album!

Rapper Big Pooh – “Seinfeld” (Go Up) feat. Phonte (Prod. By Swiff D)

BANGING!! While this is nowhere near a reformation of Little Brother, this previously unreleased “Seinfeld” (Go Up) track has the homies doing it like we remember in 2010 (because it is). Pooh and Tay doing the business. Where you at 9th Wonder?

(And there is a story behind this music. Hit the jump for that.)

Robert Glasper – “Violets” feat. Phonte (Prod. By 9th Wonder)

Robert Glasper delivers the loveliest “Violets” (produced by 9th Wonder); off his tribute album released in commemoration of the late great Miles Davis’ upcoming birthday.

The album blends a diverse group of master takes and outtakes from across Miles’ incredible tenure with Columbia Records (1955-1985) with original reinterpretations of songs by Davis. From the obvious (riffs and passages within the catalog) to the obscure (samples of Miles’ in-studio instructions spoken after false starts), Glasper has built something unique but still unquestionably Miles.

The drop date for “Everything’s Beautiful” is May 27, 2016. But you can pre-order that today… after you listen to Tiggalo flow over this WonderGlasper musical collabo.

Torae – “Clap Sh*t Up” feat. Phonte (Prod. By Nottz) [Video]

Oh hell yessir! Torae goes hard with bars in beast emcee mode in the video above. To make it a li’l better, he added a li’l Phontiggalo. You know!

Torae returns with the 3rd video “Clap Sh*t Up” from his sophomore album ‘Entitled.’ Produced by Nottz and featuring an appearance from Phonte (Little Brother/Foreign Exchange) “Clap Sh*t Up” is modern-day Hip-Hop at its finest. The video directed by Pixel Motiv Media was shot in Torae’s home turf of Coney Island is bolstered by animated frames over live action.

The Foreign Exchange – “Body” (Video)

Got the hookup. Like we needed another reason to get with that “Tales From The Land Of Milk And Honey” project by Foreign Exchange (out now). Phonte and Nicolay keep it pushing, only stopping long enough to drop a music video for their “Body” single. Watch above (the music, merged with the visual, and all that “Body” in there. Ah yes, Eye Candy)!

Here’s your hookup: Take this smoothed out jawn to your baby, and say, “Let’s forget the club this weekend and just chill… No ‘Netflix and’ nuthin’… just you and me.” Then click play on this jawn. And yooooo… you’re welcome.

Oddisee x Phonte – “Requiem”

“I got the blues; and I watch the news. Like, n!gga what the f#ck I’m supposed to tell my kids?”

Jazzy bluesy bap joint “Requiem” is from the forthcoming Mello Music Group compilation album “Persona” (due out March 10, 2015; but you can hit the pre-order link below). Of course, Oddisee is on the beat (double duty). Here’s more.

Persona unveils the murderer’s row that is the Mello roster of 2015. Oddisee, Apollo Brown, yU, L’Orange, Red Pill, Open Mike Eagle, Rapper Big Pooh, Quelle Chris. The stars of the present teamed with timeless innovators like Phonte (Little Brother), Blockhead, Ras Kass, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious), Oh No, Masta Ace, and Bilal Salaam. The result is something that binds current greats with the pioneers who paved the asphalt. It’s both a historical moment and hard as hell.

If most compilations are nothing more than a loosely thrown together collection of songs, Persona boasts meticulous focus. These aren’t spare tracks, they’re potent messages and poisonous darts. “Requiem” finds Phonte and Oddisee indicting American racism and Xenophobia with fury and precision…

Pardon The Interruption: DJ Premier x Royce Da 5’9 Crashes Phonte’s ‘PRhyme’-Time Interview (Video)

You plan for the unexpected as best you can, and it still happens. But if you are lucky, that’s a good thing!

PRhyme, also known as DJ Premier and Royce Da 5’9,” made their way into the STASHED studio as we were interviewing Phonte. Rather than having them wait, the three old friends all joined in one long conversation. Among the topic discussed include their history together, being grown men in Hip-Hop, and possibly working together on a new project.

It’s a happy half-hour of eavesdropping you will gladly spend with Phonte (Phontigallo-tigallo-tigallo), DJ Premier and Royce Da 5’9…if you simply click play above.

Phonte And Nicolay Recorded The First ‘Foreign Exchange’ Album Before They Ever Actually Met (Video)

This is the short that’ll fill in all the blanks (if you have any) about your understanding of the story of Foreign Exchange. Phonte and Nicolay tell a compelling story of a chance meeting on a message board that grew into a musical bond that produced a Grammy nomination and what will likely be a life of artistic fulfillment. Great stuff! Watch.

Talib Kweli, Elzhi, & Phonte – “No Competition” (Prod. By Khrysis)

No-Competition-450x450You can’t go wrong with these four individuals all on one track. The superior lyricism of Phonte, Elzhi, & Talib Kweli coupled with an ill beat from Khrysis makes this joint nothing but strait fiyah.  I can’t wait to play this on my radio show Saturday night.  This brand new banger is off of the upcoming ‘Jamla Is The Squad’ compilation that’s dropping on January 28th.

R&B: Zo! – “We Are On The Move” feat. Eric Roberson x Phonte (Video)

Ha! ‘Old school players to new school fools!’ OutKast might’ve had something like this in mind with that lyric. Zo! got with some buddies and got to clowning on this Whispers inspired video. The track is dope, but they really seemed to have fun with visuals brought to you by director Kenneth Price. “We Are On The Move” (featuring Eric Roberson and Phonte) is another banger off the “ManMade” LP.
