Former Record Industry Exec Speaks On Suge Knight (Video)

Damn. By three minutes in former industry exec Virgil Roberts spilled that Suge Knight had the powers-that-be shook EVEN THOUGH Suge was NOT a true OG. Wow.

Well, he was around back when Suge was really reigning; and he is very forthcoming with his what-had-happeneds in the interview above. More commentary on that era after the jump.

(Whoa! He talked about the Vanilla Ice balcony strong-arm incident in this, too? Yes.)

Dee Barnes Speaks On Being Assaulted By Dr. Dre Back In The Day & Her Place In Hip Hop History (Video)

Kevin Powell interviews Hip-Hop journalist Dee Barnes for HuffPost. That’s right, the story of the woman Dr. Dre attacked back in the day… the story that was missing from the N.W.A. biopic (“Straight Outta Compton”). Many heads have called the omission of this dark moment from the historic Hip-Hop story’s retelling foul. Well, watch and get Dee’s point of view.

Note: This interview is not all about the Dre assault incident. Kevin is allowing Dee to have her say, and then the story comes out. Watch. Very deep. There are still unhealed wounds to this day.

Fokis – “Produced By Dr. Dre”

Fokis. Engineer, emcee, producer. Rapping with the likes of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz… sitting in production with Ty Fyffe, Focus…, Jake One and more. Yeah, dude has got the pedigree. Okay, so Fokis runs indie label Loyalty Digital Corp. (credited for executive producing projects for Skyzoo, Antman Wonder, Torae and Sadat X). As an engineer, he has recorded and mixed for Slaughterhouse, Fat Joe, N.O.R.E, Pharoahe Monch, Bun B, Kool G Rap, and others. But check out this suggestively-titled jawn “Produced By Dr. Dre” for his upcoming project “Underground With Commercial Appeal” (due out February 3, 2015).
