The Future And Music Collectives (Video)

Very interesting. Music/culture collectives – already seen as go-tos for indie and underground (read: real) music and movements – could very well be controllers of the world of tomorrow. Time was, we went to other taste makers – deejays, radio, clubs, label imprints, print and video magazines – to learn what was new and worthy. Nowadays, largely enabled by Internet and mobile channels, we turn to curators who are independent themselves (e.g. not beholden to station management, programming consultants, the ‘charts’ or record/media manufacturers). Could it be that enough of us have turned away from old commercial channels that big name companies of all kinds who want to reach us reach out to Soulections and OKPlayers (and ehem JAYFORCEs) of the world? Real music, real culture from real outlets NOT begging or cowering for big ad bucks.

Could be. Check out the discussion above.

LAKIM – “I’m Rick James B!tch”

Every day people make remixes to classic and not so classic tracks.  Sometimes the track sounds the same other times completely different.  With that said sometimes producers are able to take just a little bit of the original track and make it their own while holding to true to what the artists created in the beginning.  Well LAKIM has done just that with his latest remix track titled “Im Rick James Bitch” where he flips the Rick James classic “Super Freak”.  I mean he adds some drums and a different baseline and it is a head nodder from start to finish.  The only problem is it is too short only lasting for under two minutes.

“What did the five fingers Say to the Face? S-L-A-P I’m Cold Bloooooooded”

R&B/Soul: Esta – “Can’t Wait” featuring SPZRKT

They say Patience is a virtue, but some things in life are just hard to wait on.  Like waiting on food at a restaurant when you are hungry or waiting in line to get into a popular club.  One thing I know a lot of men can agree on is they can’t wait to see that special lady in their lives if they have said lady.

Well the DJ/Producer Esta (Soulection DJ) teams up with singer SPZRKT explaining this nicely with the track you guessed it named “Can’t Wait”.  This track will have guys thinking they can sing to their ladies.  I suggest you just play the song by Esta (featuring SPZRKT). Fellas trust me, I already attempted and the lady enjoyed the song more! Check out SPZRKT new album BONFIRE.

Zikomo – “Champion Riddim”

artworks-000090159671-w7n9db-t500x500

Interesting. Soulection and Stussy ‘let their powers combine’ on this mix project.

We’ve taken dozens of tracks into consideration to curate the finest selection of progressive music from around the world to bring visibility to the future sound. Because there is so much talent out there, it was challenging to pull this compilation together to showcase a progression and cohesive flow that reflects both Stussy and Soulection cultures respectively.

This is Zikomo with “Champion Riddim” off the “The Sound of Tomorrow” – a Soulection and Stussy compilation.
