Kev Brown x Hassaan Mackey – “Dope” / “Hassaan Be Rappin” (Video)
Man, whatchu know about a Kev Brown / Hassaan Mackey (DC / NY) combo punch?! Doing visuals for a combo release (“Dope” and “Hassaan Be Rappin”) in promotion of “That Grit” – the duo’s forthcoming LP.
Entirely produced by Kev Brown and featuring his signature bassline-driven and raw, but soulful sound, “That Grit” consists of an intro, eight full-length tracks and six instrumentals. Hassaan and Kev share mic duties on most of the songs, inviting close friends/frequent collaborators Kaimbr, Toine, yU, Kenn Starr, Eye-Q, Asheru (of Unspoken Heard) as well as the Younger Soul Brother Grap Luva along as feature guests, turning the record into a true family affair.
Give it a play. You’ll like.
Homeboy Sandman – “Refugee” (Video)
While I was playing ‘Duck Hunt’ brothers were sitting ducks.
His “Hallways” LP officially out, Homebody Sandman lets some more dopeness out to sea. Video for “Refugee†above. You can get the single as part of the album (linked below via earlier post).
Saigon – “Nunya” (Prod. By DJ Premier) [Video]
Saigon’s music video for his track “Nunya” (produced by DJ Premier) off the ‘Greatest Story Never Told 3’ album: “GSNT 3: The Troubled Times Of Brian Carenard” (out now).
The 1978ers – “One Nine 7-T-8”
Well, yeah, it’s a FREE download but focus on the fact that it is good music (but at an unbeatable price, right?). Check out another offering from yU & Slimkat (together known as The 1978ers) on this “One Nine 7-T-8” off the forthcoming “People Of Today” LP.

BoneBreaker Jones – “Livin Proof” (Rebooth)
Okay, deep breaths. Twenty years is a long enough wait. So here goes: I have kept word of this personal project I have been working on from pretty much EVERYBODY (JayForce and my Beatz & Lyrics fam included); partly because it means so much to me but also because timing is crucial…for most everything!
This a reboot (e.g. redo, redux, reffixx mixtape… I actually call it a Rebooth) of the Group Home classic “Livin’ Proof.” Ever since this came out about 20 years ago, I have wondered what my favorite DJ Premier beats off that album would sound under verses from emcees I know and admire. Well, viola! Check out this work of love (TOTALLY FREE, of course) – The “Livin Proof” (Rebooth LP) from BoneBreaker Studios, featuring various artists over the original music by DJ Premier.
This post is for the title track, from BoneBreaker Jones. His music video for this is coming next week. Prepare your hearts and minds to partake, as the reverend would say.
Check it out. Download and pass it on if you like. I LOVE IT (but then again, I’ve got 20 years of bias built up).
(What’s crazy is… several artists on the project – including the homie SkyBlew – were barely on the planet when Group Home dropped the original plate!)
Enjoy.

Building them bridges (I’m about that)

Switch up your decisions if you want an outcome that’s different.
– yU
Yeah, you get that? You like that? Well, go get that. Ha! Oh yeah, the single is a FREE download!!

Alchemist – “Shut The F#ck Up” (Not Safe For Work Version) [Video]
Man, hurry up and hit play before the powers that be take this one down, too. We put as many screen shots (after the jump) up to capture the Alchemist’s insanity for this “Shut The F#ck Up” (Not Safe For Work Version). It’s real short and NOT sweet… but should definitely pique your interest for the coming instrumental album “Rapper’s Best Friend 3” (due out September 30, 2014; pre-order available on iTunes now).
Dice Raw – “Over” (Short Film)
New video (well, when a video hits 9 minutes, it’s a short film) “Over” from Dice Raw (of The Roots) off his album “Jimmy’s Back” (out now, linked below).
(Spoiler Alert: We KNOW which cop in this film will be your favorite. Ours, too!)
R&B: Jessie Ware – “Kind Of…Sometimes…Maybe” feat. Miguel
That basic sexy number. Like that elegant black evening dress you like the look of. UK’s Jessie Ware delivers that; especially on this “Kind Of…Sometimes…Maybe” (featuring Miguel; but pay attention ’cause he is really subdued with his vocalizing on there). “Tough Love” (LP) will be out worldwide by October 21, 2014.
Boaz – “Intuition” (Video)
Steelers’ home’s Boaz with the dope song and video! Title track off the album “Intuition” (due out October 21, 2014). Mannnn, Pittsburgh (PA, USA) goes hard; esp. on this Beatnick & K-Salaam track. Click play and let it take you away. Yessir.
Cormega – “Rise” feat. Maya Azucena (Prod. By Large Professor)
Large Pro and Cormega’s album “Mega Philosophy” ought to be pretty beastly (posted earlier on it, see the link below). Two Hip-Hop vets make for a good bet. Here’s another taste test of it: “Rise” (featuring Maya Azucena). Don’t you enjoy the feel of a joint when everybody feels the joint… when the beatmaker stops and marvels as he shares his own genius (start of the video)? Yeah, you do. This is that. Watch and listen as all involved do their thing on the track.
Apollo Brown x Ras Kass – “Humble Pi” (Video)
Oh Yeah! More HEAT from that “Blasphemy” project coming from Apollo Brown & Ras Kass (linked here if you want to pre-order). This visual is for the single “Humble Pi.”
…and most of y’all garbage, homie. Fact is fact. Even if you paid big bucks to get f#cked and d!ck-sucked…
– Ras Kass
Oh… and no punchlines withheld; no punches pulled! Respect the Rasassination of this Apollo Brown track. Enjoy!
Cavalier – “Watch And Learn” (Video)
I’m just trying to live. Y’all just die trying…
Did you like that jawn Cavalier had with Raekwon off the “Chief” LP (we posted here)? Sure, you see the smoke in this “Watch And Learn” video (produced by KFB Productions), but play it again for the feel. The kid’s there, lounging with the grown folks fixing the greens, in the midst of the smoke; probably more nothing-wrong-with-the-herb commentary than shock attempt. No smoke ‘n mirrors either way; in your face. Credit director Ruby Flores for that mode of visual delivery.
Hit the jump for some insights on the new-to-our-radar Cavalier. You can follow the following link to get that “Chief” album, too.

Edo. G – “Fight!” feat. Chuck D (Video)
Ohhh yeeaahh, maannnn! Edo. G went in from Berlin! Maybe he knew to put a li’l extra stank on this “Fight!” song; with him being joined by Hall of Fame Public Enemy emcee Mista Chuck D and such. Great visuals. You probably recognize some snips from the “Do The Right Thing” Anniversary event video we posted here in the there, too.
“Let’s go, my brother.”
– Chuck D
Damn right, Chuck. Let’s go! Excellent work by Myster DL on this presentation. Boston STAND UP! Edo can still go… “After All These Years” (out now on iTunes).
Cavalier – “Bitter Truth” feat. Raekwon
I’m high. I ain’t never coming down!
– Cavalier
The single’s lyrics and lyricists (Cavalier welcomes Raekwon to this cipher) rolled tight on this track. Rolled tight like that good piff to puff. Check out this piff entitled “Bitter Truth” off Cavalier’s “Chief” (out now on iTunes).
L’Orange – “Need You” feat. Blu (Video)
You may now kiss… the gas masks? Um…interesting visuals for “Need You” (featuring Blu) off the L’Orange LP entitled “The Orchid Days” (out now). Watch closely. Twice. Think the theme comes through clearly on the second run. Adam and Eve…wedded bliss…communing with each other…but not really…enjoying the beautiful Garden…but not really… The gas masks have got to come off… assuming they were on to keep them alive… the two decide to take them off so they can truly live the rest of their beautiful lives together… however short a lifetime they would then share.
Enjoy. Discuss. And if you want, cop at iTunes via the link below.
Joell Ortiz – “Music Saved My Life” feat. B.o.B x Mally Stakz (Video)
And anotha one! Joell Ortiz drops another video off the upcoming album (“House Slippers”) right quick. It’ll be out September 16, 2014. What’s the rush?? Shiiiid! This message music… That’s the rush!
Got Mally Stakz and B.O.B. on this, huh? Makes sense that some ATL-shot footage shows up in here.
“You didn’t let me die. Music saved my life!”
