It should go without question that Atlanta’s DJ Toomp is a dope producer. Although DJ Toomp reps for the south, he’s crafted so many bangers for so many artists in the game that his sound can’t be defined by any one region. He doesn’t particularly have any one key sound either. One of the reasons Rick Ross has been successful is because he has a solid ear for beats & I’m positive he’s knowledge about key producers in the game like DJ Toomp. Atlanta heat is officially here and that means one thing, crazy mixtapes and projects are about to set sail into the vast sea we like to call the world wide web. Atlanta’s Greedmont Park joins forces with Augusta’s rising producer Hungry Hanz to release a blend of hard hitting, off kilter beats that would make Madlib proud and Kool Keith salivate.
“The Distraction Tape” is just that, a blend of instrumentals to help you get your mind off the madness of the week and into the world of Hungry Hanz. Augusta’s own, DJ Acrojam stays away from clichè id tags, yelling, and damn near annoying repetive “pull ups”,  allowing the listener to enjoy the tracks in their natural state. All of which have their own personality. “The Distraction Tape” is mixed into one large pool of sounds for your ears to swim in. Be on the look out for Hungry Hanz during his quest to raise eyebrows. Alchemist is one of my all-time favorite producers. I believe he doesn’t get enough credit for his contributions in hip hop & more people may need to take notice. I still believe too many people are still sleeping on his talent. Real hip hop heads already know, but casual rap fans don’t have no freakin’ clue at all. If you asked the average commercial rap radio listener who Alchemist is they’d probably give you a funny look or a fake response.
