Powerful posthumous heat from the late great J Dilla with some assist on the production by J Rocc and lyrical content delivered by Bussa Buss and Leader Quest Q-Tip. Check out this previously unreleased “Motor City” blend from the album (linked below).
The late, great J Dilla is widely regarded as one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time. Since his death in 2006, Dilla’s mother Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey has worked tirelessly to further her son’s legacy, and her latest effort is the new project Motor City. Inspired by Dilla’s beloved hometown, Motor City is a collection of rare and unreleased Jay Dee instrumentals, hand-selected and sequenced by Ma Dukes. Conceived as a “letter” to her son, Motor City is packaged in a limited-edition mailing envelope, complete with a handwritten message from Ma Dukes to J Dilla inside. This 19-track collection will be available at physical and digital outlets worldwide on April 21st, 2017.
Yep! The video goes there. From “More Politics” by Termanology, this is the visual for “We’re Both Wrong” (produced by Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest). Saigon on the feature. Warning: Lyricists crossing…lines!
Okay, it would have been nice to get some dope backstage looks before the big ATCQ Saturday Night Live performance tonight. But we don’t have that. Oprah’s ol’ bestie Gayle got some other true behind-the-scenes stuff for us to watch while we wait though.
As A Tribe Called Quest releases “We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service,” its final album after an 18-year break, Gayle King gets a tour of Q-Tip’s home studio in New Jersey.
ALERT: We have a Statik Selektah sighting. Stat Diddy is in the building! Plus, there’s more of the Gayle–Tip tour after the jump.
The only thing we’re doing wrong is not fighting back.
Message music! Timely commentary over a top-notch beat by Q-Tip. Listen to Termanology and Saigon spit Hip-Hop perfection on this “We’re Both Wrong.”
Consequence called his cousin Q-Tip (from A Tribe Called Quest) and dude showed up. Bringing y’all the real Hip-Hop (none of that ‘Love And’). This is “No Matter What” off the Cons’ new EP entitled “A Good Comeback Story” (out now).
Okay, so Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip drop “The Abstract & The Dragon” a good while back. If another like that was coming, you’d figure they’d be in step doing it, right? Well… Nope. Bussa Buss went and did the business and let the follow-up go FREE while Tip went and did the vacay. Still FREE. Still dope. Get that!
When Mobb Deep would say, “There’s a war going on outside, no man is safe from” … sh!t was real? Yes. And they stayed ready for ‘the realness.’ Hear about it from Hav and Prodigy themselves; and the respect they have for those who sampled them (as they considered doing so a compliment).
Raw commentary from Leader Quest and some of those in the know. Get the story – the whole story (linked below) on Q-Tip, available for stream below.

If you were to imagine a perfect “Illmatic” 20th anniversary celebratory event, part of it would have to go like this… Nas shows up on The Tonight Show (’cause you know Fallon respects real Hip-Hop)… Oh, Q-Tip is there, too? Cool, cool… Wanna do a set with The World’s Greatest Late Night Band (aka The Roots)… Ummm… Hell yeah, hell yeah. Okay, now imagine that happening. Because it did. Missed it? No, you didn’t. Press play for “One Love” above and enjoy thoroughly! More Nas and Q-Tip after the jump. Yeah, “The World Is Yours.”

Busta Rhymes is gearing up to release his next album ‘E.L.E.2’ next year while Q-Tip is set to release ‘The Last Zulu’ project in 2014 as well. Needless to say ‘The Abstract & The Dragon’ project is a nice 28-track appetizer of remixes, classic joints, & new collaborations all sparked by the ‘Thank You’ single that featured Kanye West & Lil Wayne. Listen, download, & check the tracklisting below…..
In a word: DOPE! Please peep the artwork after the jump! But for now, above, catch what Bussa Buss is dropping about the mixtape folks have been waiting for before they knew it’d be a thing – Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip, “The Abstract & The Dragon.” Gonna be everything y’all need. Homage to Leaders of the New School & A Tribe Called Quest… Native Tongues represented… to present and future in their music. Busta says all that will be in there for everyone who has ridden and will ride for them. If they deliver on that, beautiful! Look for it to drop here on the web at 12midnight on Thursday 12/12/13.
What does it take to be a producer’s producer? You can probably get an answer from Q-Tip (of A Tribe Called Quest). Tip recently told journalist Elliott Wilson that he and Rick Rubin would be producing Kanye West’s next solo album. Watch the interview clip from Jay Z’s “Life + Times” … and hear what’s up on a future ATCQ album and more from The Abstract.
We showed you the behind-the-scenes, but now it’s time… Here’s the official video for the “Thank You” joint from Busta Rhymes (featuring Q-Tip). You see Lil Wayne and Kanye in there flossin’ boss style, too. Enjoy. Watch for the coming mixtape with Q-Tip called “The Abstract And The Dragon” due out December 12, 2013. Audio link from the earlier post on the song follows.
Thought it wasn’t real? Gotcha. Lil Wayne and Birdman intro’ing Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip on a track “Thank You” (with Kanye hyping it)? Okay, so all that isn’t quite true… but click play. You’ll get the meaning. Actually pretty decent. Leaked in advance of Busta’s “Extinction Level Event 2” LP.
Already a worthy track, putting Australian group Hiatus Kaiyote on the map last year, Q-Tip (of A Tribe Called Quest fame) drops lyrics on an alternate version of the cut. Tip doing his “People’s Instinctive Travels” throwback flow on this one is nice. Relax to this.

Above: Q-Tip (of the famed Golden Era group A Tribe Called Quest) speaking at the Red Bull Music Academy in New York. This episode of the Red Bull Music Academy’s lecture series gives us two hours of content featuring Leader Quest / emcee / producer / DJ.
Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip link up for a focused freestyle over Kendrick Lamar & Drake’s collaborative track “Poetic Justice”. Bussa Buss & Q-Tip flashback to that period in the 90s when they not only worked with Janet Jackson in a variety of instances but they both longed to be the primary objects of her affection. Under the hood check out a few videos of how Janet had brothas all caught up for years since her days as “Penny” from the tv show Goodtimes….
