Ice Cube – “Death Certificate” (25th Anniversary Edition)

A lot of y’all’s kids ain’t even 25 years old yet! Just saying, this is monster. More and more, we will be able to actually refer to Hip-Hop classics as ‘classic’ in the fuller sense of the word. No less dope, more jacked in fact, with three more singles added, Ice Cube re-releases his “Death Certificate” project 25 years after its debut. Stream some samples below.

ICE CUBE – DEATH CERTIFICATE (25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION)

Madchild – “BadChild” (Prod. By Evidence) [Video]

“BadChild” is Madchild snapping over an Evidence beat forged from that heat of the street… for the streets! And it sounds like it. Driving in the video, riding the track, rapping lyrics you could visualize even without these Dhesi-directed visuals (which are dope). This really sounds like a kid that did bad, got put on punishment, and has come to realize why.

But that beat though.

Get this as part of a pre-order of “The Darkest Hour” via the link here.

Snoop Dogg – “Mount Kushmore” feat. Redman x B-Real x Method Man (Video)

Animated Eye Candy? Can they do that? Apparently so. Aaaaaand the weed video is dope wacky and dope, at the same damn time (as expected). Wasn’t 100% sure that there would be one when we posted “Mount Kushmore” (featuring Redman, B-Real & Method Man) on here, but feeling way past 90% certain that there should be. So give us A… puff of that Snoop smoke!

(The twerking ninja THOT in this is everything though! Bahahaaaaa!)

Talib Kweli x Styles P – “Nine Point Five” feat. Sheek Louch x Jadakiss x NIKO IS (Video)

Kill all the yapping. Not here for the chit-chat. The dope beat and the damn lyrics are what’s happening! Yessir!!

Several ‘hot spots’ in this “Nine Point Five” jawn off “The Seven” LP. The one you might miss is Kweli mentioning ‘uncomfortable feelings’ listening to “Planet Rock” (re: Afrika Bambaataa’s recent controversy). Jadakiss’ spit is the truth, too: “Hip-Hop ain’t as dead as it looks.”

Damn right, Jada! Respect to all on this track.

Kool G Rap – “Capitol Hill” feat. Cormega x Sheek Louch x Manolo Rose (Prod. By MoSS)

Most n!ggas ain’t living to see 20 pass…

When you think about the Golden Era Hip-Hop legends who the legends build on, you think about Kool G Rap.

(You probably knew that, but tell somebody who doesn’t know. Promote proper Hip-Hop history.)

Just take that line above and do the math. Nas is a G.O.D.M.C. no d-o-u-b-t. Remember his line from “Illmatic” where he started

I woke up early on my born day
I’m 20. It’s a blessing…

Yeah, 20 years pass and we get that Kool G line above. But ask Nas about G Rap, who came before him, and bet money you hear respect. Reflect on that full circle legend sh!t and puff one if ya got one and get down like that. Do it while playing this “Capitol Hill” (featuring Cormega, Sheek Louch, and Manolo Rose) from the Queens legend Kool G Rap. Single off the forthcoming “Return Of The Don” LP (pre-order link on iTunes below).

Nas – “Systematic” (Prod. By DJ Shadow) [Video]

Making the HBO soundtrack for the “Silicon Valley” series kind of puts Nas and DJ Shadow on the path to must-drop-music-video for their jawn “Systematic,” doesn’t it? Well, if you peeped above you already know that question was rhetorical.

Enjoy the lyrical visuals for the dope auditorial. You’re welcome.

You can pre-order the “Silicon Valley” soundtrack from Mass Appeal Records (due out this June).

Snoop Dogg – “Neva Left” (Album)

To call that “Mount Kushmore” a ‘teaser’ seems almost like a backhand shot. Let’s call it a lead-in. And a great lead-in it was for Snoop Dogg’s “Neva Left.” Out now, we got the FREE sampler stream for you to try out (plus the link to cop, if you like, via link to an earlier post here).

David Banner – “Magnolia” feat. Cee-Lo x Raheem DeVaughn

David Banner be banging! This release, “Magnolia,” off the forthcoming project “The God Box” (pre-order link below) is painfully deep with a story over a dope beat.

The song represents the relationship of trees in Mississippi and Africans throughout history. The taller the tree, the broader the story, the shorter the tree, the more personal the perspective is. My verse is about the relationship between the magnolia tree and Africans during slavery.
David Banner

“The God Box” has vocal performance features from Cee-Lo and Raheem (obviously) and Big K.R.I.T from the Magnolia State; plus Black Thought (of The Roots), Trinidad James, WatchtheDuck and Big Rube. Production assists come from DJ Khalil, DJ Swiff, and more.

Big Sean – “Light” feat. Jeremih (Video)

Even if you take away my life, you can’t take the “Light!”
Big Sean

Yeah maaan… Aired out that Sweet Sable jawn “Old Times’ Sake” (true old heads will hear Eddie Kendricks) and made it extra bluesy. All that, plus Big Sean found a way to make the song cry. The pain of loss that has been all too familiar over the years – and esp. in recent times – is brought out in this song. And yet, we have to hold our heads. It’s gonna be alright. It has to be.

New visuals for a cut off “I Decided.” This is “Light” (featuring Jeremih).

J. Cole: 4 Your Eyez Only (A Dreamville Film) [Video]

So real, it’s surreal.

That’s a Mos Def quote but it works for this documentary. J. Cole’s (and Scott Lazer’s) documentary – bearing the name of Coleworld’s latest LP – originally aired on HBO on April 15, 2017. Cool move allowing this to run online for FREE.99 for everyone who might want to see this but do not have HBO.

Watched it on [not just] TV… about to watch it again here. Join us! Linked the LP again below for you for later, too.
