R&B: The-Dream x 2Chainz – “Extremely Blessed” (Video)

The first time I heard this song was in a strip club (and yeah… there were some who were extremely blessed up in there). This record from The-Dream and 2Chainz – “Extremely Blessed” – is serious trouble. The video (above) even more so. This would have been an even better banger in my opinion if it was just an R&B joint by The-Dream. No hate though.

Durand Bernarr is wanting to put a li’l something extra in at your holiday celebration this year… funk! Jazzy bounce smooth “Incense Burning On an Open Fire” is a BamaLoveSoul recommendation I got in my inbox recently… and I approved that message. Hahaaa! For seriously though, this Cleveland (Ohio) native has the skills and the cosign – writing, arranging, and singing his own music, as well as being a part of Erykah Badu’s band Neda Stella. Super-producer Soulpersona tapped singer/songwriter Princess Freesia to lace this track with raw uncut vocals. The result, “Cocaine,” was apparently held off “The Lapdancer” album (by Soulpersona and Princess Freesia) at iTunes right now – though their streaming site says otherwise. Why isn’t it on the iTunes version? Dunno. But we got it for you here.

It’s funny how when music is so timeless that you don’t quite take notice of the years that by when enjoying good music. Every now & then I turn back to listen to Bilal’s 2010 album ‘Airtight’s Revenge’ on on my iphone/itunes with some frequency. It’s hard to believe he just dropped this new single “Back To Love” for his upcoming project because the previous album was good enough to hold most of us over. Look out for the Philly soul singer’s upcoming album “A Love Surreal” right before Valentines day dropping February 12th. If you haven’t copped The Retrospection mixtape he released that we posted earlier you can download it for free from the link below.

Big Boi x Little Dragon Perform ‘Mama Told Me’ On Jimmy Fallon (Video)

I remember a while back Big Boi tweeted that he was working with Little Dragon for a song on his new album ‘Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors’ that drops this Tuesday December 11th. Upon glancing over the tracklisting I’m surprised to see a few songs featuring Little Dragon will make the album. One of my favorites singles from the album “Mama Told Me” featuring Kelly Rowland was originally done with the Swedish band as well. Atlanta R&B singer, producer, & songwriter The-Dream drops one of the first visuals from the commercial release of the 1977 project due next Tuesday December 18th. I don’t think it’s totally a bad idea to re-release mixtape projects for commercial release. Chances are it’s going to be new music to most people who don’t keep up with mixtapes amidst the flood of free music on the internet. It’s a win in my opinion although some of Mr. Terius Nash’s hardcore fans maybe thinking ‘Wake Me When The NEW Material’ comes.

Been watching Mz. Joi for a minute. For years, she’s been on the set doing her thing… EVERYthing… video production assistance, wardrobe, makeup, modeling, hooks, freestyles, rhyming writtens and singing and then some! Her hometown’s (Birmingham) music scene was been better for her presence, but now, having made the move to Atlanta… she may be overdue to ride out big. And this joint (video above) may well be the vehicle. “Dreamchasers” shows that Mz. Joi’s got the goods.

Atlanta based R&B singer Lloyd had a show in Amsterdam & used that opportunity to shoot a video for ‘The Question’ off of his latest R&B mixtape The Playboy Diaries Vol. I that’s available now. I’ve been digging some of what I’ve heard, but I’d like to hear the project without a DJ host on it. I genuinely like to hear R&B mixtapes without any talking on them. Hopefully a no dj version will be coming soon but until then just enjoy the video above that he directed himself.
