Apollo Brown – “Deception & Woes” feat. Clear Soul Forces (Video)

So dope! So banging! Could have and should have expected this from such a collaboration, but still…

There are cities that get by on their good looks, offer climate and scenery, views of mountains or oceans, rockbound, or with palm trees. And then there are blue collar cities like Detroit, that have to work for a living. Cities that rely on the toughness and resiliency of their people. Cities that will not quit. Detroit has an unmistakable soul; nobody can duplicate what we give to the world. – Sincerely, Detroit

Taking “The Pizza Show” On The Road… To Detroit (Video)

“Hey bruh, let’s get a slice” are words you have heard, or at least understand folks saying, in New York… and Chicago… and Detroit… and (record screeches, whimsical background music stops)… Wait what!!

Detroit might be known as the motor city, but it’s also the pizza city. Our host Frank Pinello heads west to try out the thick-crusted, rectangular pies unique to the city. We start our tour with the classics—Buddy’s, Cloverleaf, and Loui’s—before heading to some of Detroit’s newer spots like Amar Pizza and Suppino Pizzeria. And it wouldn’t be a trip to Detroit without a visit to one of the most infamous pizza names to come out of the Mitten State—Little Caesars. Motown is definitely the dough town.

Detroit (Trailer)

That’s John Boyega, dude from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’ No light sabers in this one, but no less compelling a story… Plus, it’s real.

From the Academy Award winning director of THE HURT LOCKER and ZERO DARK THIRTY, DETROIT tells the gripping story of one of the darkest moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit in the summer of ‘67.

Check out the trailer for “Detroit” (in theaters August 4th).

J. Keys – “New Year New Day” (Video)

Well we made it to 2017 and let me say Happy New Year on behalf of the entire Jayforcedotcom team.  J. Keys would like to help you start off on the right foot in 2017 with his latest track New Year New Day.  He reminds you to not just wait for the end of the year to start thinking about change but apply it with each day you are blessed with.  The visuals definitely match the track showing him being active in many different locations.  So while you are nodding your head to the groove pay attention to the message in the music as well!

This year I’m thinking bigger than the money. I’m trying to get something that you cant take from me. Trying to stay clear of the haters & the dummies. Got you eating salad trying to get rid of your tummy. Man you don’t got to wait to lose weight it don’t cost a thing to have faith.

The Black Opera – “Sacred Cow”

TBO, The Black Ops or you can just say The Black Opera it all equates to brothers and sisters making quality music and not getting stuck to the same thing.  TBO constantly puts out content right now Majestik Legend has a new solo album out titled Legend Has it.  Then look at the fact TBO member Jamall Bufford just released a single titled Summer after Summer.  Well they got back together and introduced us to some new voices for the latest single Sacred Cow.  Majestik Legend, Jamal Bufford, Obie Iyoha, and introducing Johnny Void the whole gang gets busy on a self produced track.

In an era where the idea of justice remains in question, these questions linger as well: Who can you trust? Who can you believe in? Those questions apply to “the system” and to rap music in 2015. “Sacred Cow” is The Black Opera’s way of answering those questions.

Big Sean Proving That One Man Can Change Detroit (Video)

I think kids in general have raw talent… It’s before the world gets to them… All they have is their imagination and their beliefs…
Big Sean

Awesome stuff! Big Sean giving back to the community and tapping an undervalued renewable resource: the energy youth can devote to pursuing dreams (like he did). Feel the power in this clip!

What does Infinite Possibilities look like? For Big Sean it’s going back to Detroit where he first imagined a life in music. Big Sean returns to his high school, Cass Tech, to build a recording studio and inspire the imaginations of a new creative class. Dej Loaf – “Me U & Hennessy” (Video)

It wasn’t too hard to recognize that Detroit artist Dej Loaf was a cutie despite the hardcore feel of her breakout hit ‘Try Me’ that introduced her to the world. I don’t know if it was entirely her idea or the people around her, but with her latest single ‘Me U & Hennessy’ they decided to switch it up a little bit in exploring her sensual side. The great camera work & lush visual feel by Director Solmaz Saberiwill definitely catches your eye, but without a shadow of a doubt it’s Dej Loaf’s unique beauty that is the primary element contributing to the artistic brilliance of the video. I can say the actual video made me dig the song & readily admit that I may have overlooked this track from her ‘Sell Sole’ project that dropped last year. I bet you Henny sales & record spins gonna go up with the release of this new video. Beautiful & Beautifully done ‘Detroit Girl’.

Of course you are on JAYFORCE.com so the “Force is with you” and it’s only right that we display the new visuals from Clear Soul Forces “BPSWR” BackPackSubWooferRap.  The video shot by Richard Taylor definitely matches the track with gritty scenery that goes well with the beat produced by Nameless.  BPSWR is featured on the upcoming project Fab 5 (Set to be released April 28th).  Clever name for an album since Ilajide, E-Fav, Noveliss & L.A.Z. all hail from Detroit and of course the college basketball famed team of Michigan was nicknamed “Fab 5”.  The forces in addition to producer Nameless completes the squad to a true starting 5!  So enjoy the visuals and be on the lookout for that new project that will be on Fatbeats Records

Slum Village – “Yes Yes” (Video)

Straight outta the D! Slum Village – “Yes Yes”

artworks-000070107451-13gqkh-t500x500J Dilla would have been 40 years old today February 7th. As people around the world celebrate the greatness of the Detroit producer & emcee James Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla, his brother Illa J & the remaining members of Slum Village (T3 & Young RJ), let loose this joint appropriately titled ‘Yes Yes’. ‘Yes Yes’ is fitting as fans are happy to know Slum Village has a new album coming featuring more J Dilla production from the period when he was going by the name Jay Dee. Black Milk & Young RJ are also expected to provide some musical soundscapes as well. Rest in Peace J Dilla Dawg!

Phife Dawg – “Dear Dilla” (Produced By DJ Rasta Root)

artworks-000068052400-zr878a-t500x500When Phife Dawg & DJ Rasta Root let me hear this song ‘Dear Dilla’ honoring the late great Detroit emcee & producer J Dilla a short time back I immediately knew it was something special.  The DJ Rasta Root produced track provides the perfect soundscape for such an emotional, heartfelt, & sonically superb song.

#dearDilla is an open letter to Phife’s long time friend and producer, the legendary J Dilla (James Dewitt Yancey), who passed away on 2006 from complications of a rare blood disorder.

Just wait until y’all see the video directed by Chicago filmmaker Konee Rok that’s about to drop soon.  Trust me it’s a very dope clip featuring cameos from Dwele, Uncle Herm, T3, & more.  If you live in Atlanta the #dearDilla video will premier February 6th at the Midtown Art Cinema from 7:30pm-9:30pm with a Q&A hosted my yours truly & it will also premier at Dilla Day in Detroit on February 7th at the Fillmore. This is also the first official single to Phife Dawg’s upcoming album ‘MUTTYmorPHosis’ due later this year.
