That’s John Boyega, dude from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’ No light sabers in this one, but no less compelling a story… Plus, it’s real.
From the Academy Award winning director of THE HURT LOCKER and ZERO DARK THIRTY, DETROIT tells the gripping story of one of the darkest moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit in the summer of ‘67.
Check out the trailer for “Detroit” (in theaters August 4th).
Well we made it to 2017 and let me say Happy New Year on behalf of the entire Jayforcedotcom team. J. Keys would like to help you start off on the right foot in 2017 with his latest track New Year New Day. He reminds you to not just wait for the end of the year to start thinking about change but apply it with each day you are blessed with. The visuals definitely match the track showing him being active in many different locations. So while you are nodding your head to the groove pay attention to the message in the music as well!
This year I’m thinking bigger than the money. I’m trying to get something that you cant take from me. Trying to stay clear of the haters & the dummies. Got you eating salad trying to get rid of your tummy. Man you don’t got to wait to lose weight it don’t cost a thing to have faith.
TBO, The Black Ops or you can just say The Black Opera it all equates to brothers and sisters making quality music and not getting stuck to the same thing. TBO constantly puts out content right now Majestik Legend has a new solo album out titled Legend Has it. Then look at the fact TBO member Jamall Bufford just released a single titled Summer after Summer. Well they got back together and introduced us to some new voices for the latest single Sacred Cow. Majestik Legend, Jamal Bufford, Obie Iyoha, and introducing Johnny Void the whole gang gets busy on a self produced track.
In an era where the idea of justice remains in question, these questions linger as well: Who can you trust? Who can you believe in? Those questions apply to “the system” and to rap music in 2015. “Sacred Cow” is The Black Opera’s way of answering those questions.
I think kids in general have raw talent… It’s before the world gets to them… All they have is their imagination and their beliefs…
– Big Sean
Awesome stuff! Big Sean giving back to the community and tapping an undervalued renewable resource: the energy youth can devote to pursuing dreams (like he did). Feel the power in this clip!
What does Infinite Possibilities look like? For Big Sean it’s going back to Detroit where he first imagined a life in music. Big Sean returns to his high school, Cass Tech, to build a recording studio and inspire the imaginations of a new creative class. It wasn’t too hard to recognize that Detroit artist Dej Loaf was a cutie despite the hardcore feel of her breakout hit ‘Try Me’ that introduced her to the world. I don’t know if it was entirely her idea or the people around her, but with her latest single ‘Me U & Hennessy’ they decided to switch it up a little bit in exploring her sensual side. The great camera work & lush visual feel by Director Solmaz Saberiwill definitely catches your eye, but without a shadow of a doubt it’s Dej Loaf’s unique beauty that is the primary element contributing to the artistic brilliance of the video. I can say the actual video made me dig the song & readily admit that I may have overlooked this track from her ‘Sell Sole’ project that dropped last year. I bet you Henny sales & record spins gonna go up with the release of this new video. Beautiful & Beautifully done ‘Detroit Girl’.

Detroit is known for their Soulful Acts who make Soulful music. This testament is not only for the Motown days you could attribute it to the current acts making Hip Hop from that 313. Black Milk is a MC/Producer who is keeping up this tradition I guess? Okay there is no reason to guess that is just the name of this new hot track Black has dropped “I Guess” that exhibits his skills as a dope emcee and producer. Right now Black Milk is on tour with the live band Nat Turner and he will be in Atlanta March 23rd be sure to check back to the site for some exclusive material & footage!
“No Room for Actors, Coons, or Rap Vultures. No room to act, I’m giving you back dosage of bedroom walls with rap posters.” – Black Milk
Do you enjoy heavy bass lines, with a knocking beat, paired up with meaningful lyrics? If that is the case pretty sure you will enjoy this new video for “Augmentation” for Rapper Big Pooh produced by Apollo Brown. The track is off the upcoming album “Words Paint Pictures” that will be released from Mello Music Group. Here are some lyrics from Rapper Big Pooh that describe this track well …
Beat box, this is back to the block/ Before every rapper sold rocks/ Before everybody needed rocks in their watch/ Just watch, now it’s all about board rooms and stocks/ Words paint pictures, I’m an artist non-stop/ Raw beats, raps, this is called hip-hop…
J.Keys, an emcee originally from Detroit who now hails in NYC, recently headlined the MLK SOULstice (MLK Tribute Show). He performed the track “Blow The Dust Off “ from his Keymo Therapy album live at Pianos in New York City. J.Keys is backed up by a band giving the crowd a soulful energetic performance. If you were at Jayforce.com’s Beatz & Lyrics Show 15-year anniversary showcase then you caught J.Keys rocking the stage in Atlanta. Whether it’s NYC, ATL, Sydney Australia or South Africa (all places J.Keys has performed at) you can expect a quality performance!
Of course you are on JAYFORCE.com so the “Force is with you” and it’s only right that we display the new visuals from Clear Soul Forces “BPSWR” BackPackSubWooferRap. The video shot by Richard Taylor definitely matches the track with gritty scenery that goes well with the beat produced by Nameless. BPSWR is featured on the upcoming project Fab 5 (Set to be released April 28th). Clever name for an album since Ilajide, E-Fav, Noveliss & L.A.Z. all hail from Detroit and of course the college basketball famed team of Michigan was nicknamed “Fab 5”. The forces in addition to producer Nameless completes the squad to a true starting 5! So enjoy the visuals and be on the lookout for that new project that will be on Fatbeats Records

“North Kakalaka” & the “Motor City” connect as Rapper Big Pooh & Detroit producer Apollo Brown drop this powerful new single, inspired by true events, called “Stop” from their appropriately titled project “Words Paint Pictures” due March 24th.
RoboCop Day in Detroit. Yeah, it’s a thing. Here, the city celebrates the sci-fi cyborg cop and the day (and the movie) by having our hero toss the opening pitch at the Detroit Tigers vs. Toronto Blue Jays baseball game.
Both eyes on the viewer above; play and watch. Thank you for your cooperation.
Straight outta the D! Detroit’s finest trio, Slum Village, returns with a brand new video directed by Ryan Lightbourn for the J Dilla produced track ‘Yes Yes’ that we posted up here on the site about a month ago. To coincide with the name of their upcoming EP called “Vintage”, the video finds T3, illa J, & Young RJ taking things back with that visually vintage 70s & 80s vibe.
J Dilla would have been 40 years old today February 7th. As people around the world celebrate the greatness of the Detroit producer & emcee James Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla, his brother Illa J & the remaining members of Slum Village (T3 & Young RJ), let loose this joint appropriately titled ‘Yes Yes’. ‘Yes Yes’ is fitting as fans are happy to know Slum Village has a new album coming featuring more J Dilla production from the period when he was going by the name Jay Dee. Black Milk & Young RJ are also expected to provide some musical soundscapes as well. Rest in Peace J Dilla Dawg!
It’s so cold in the ‘D’ but Detroit producer & emcee Black Milk is hitting us with some sure fire heat for the winter. It was just a few months ago when Black Milk released his “No Poison, No Paradise” project and now he’s already gearing up to drop a new project called “Glitches In The Break” due May 4th. “Cold Day” is the first official single from the forthcoming ‘Glitches In The Break’ EP that will be released digitally on March 4 followed by a 12″ vinyl format on Record Store Day, April 19. Digital pre-order is available now via the Detroit musician’s Bandcamp page.

When Phife Dawg & DJ Rasta Root let me hear this song ‘Dear Dilla’ honoring the late great Detroit emcee & producer J Dilla a short time back I immediately knew it was something special. The DJ Rasta Root produced track provides the perfect soundscape for such an emotional, heartfelt, & sonically superb song.
#dearDilla is an open letter to Phife’s long time friend and producer, the legendary J Dilla (James Dewitt Yancey), who passed away on 2006 from complications of a rare blood disorder.
Just wait until y’all see the video directed by Chicago filmmaker Konee Rok that’s about to drop soon. Trust me it’s a very dope clip featuring cameos from Dwele, Uncle Herm, T3, & more. If you live in Atlanta the #dearDilla video will premier February 6th at the Midtown Art Cinema from 7:30pm-9:30pm with a Q&A hosted my yours truly & it will also premier at Dilla Day in Detroit on February 7th at the Fillmore. This is also the first official single to Phife Dawg’s upcoming album ‘MUTTYmorPHosis’ due later this year.

Elzhi Speaks On Being Influenced By Ice Cube, Meeting Eminem & Proof, & The Detroit Hip Hop Scene (Video)
One of my favorite emcees coming out of Detroit was interviewed by the good people over at Hard Knock TV. In this in-depth two part interview interview Elzhi talks about how Ice Cube was the first rapper to make him want to rap after referencing classics like “America’s Most Wanted”, “Kill At Will” & “Death Certificate”. Elzhi also speaks about being a student of the game having studied emcees like Lord Finesse & Rakim before getting detailed about the early Detroit hip hop scene where he first met Proof & Eminem. Check out part two on friday under the hood….
Fuse TV covers the celebration of life of one of Hip-Hop’s all-time greats – James “J. Dilla” Yancey. Festivities captured in the above footage are from the Detroit, at which folks like Talib Kweli, House Shoes, and J. Dilla’s mom speak on his legacy.
