Sunni Colòn… You’ll swear you hear Prince on the track, too; but it’s just him. The man drops a two’fer – two tracks in one release – entitled “Blow” and “Fantasy,” respectively. Patrick Lukens aids Sunni in this progressive/rock/funk double-production.

BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge: “Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)” With Justin Timberlake (Video)

Justin Timberlake covers the Jacksons’ “Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)” in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. As Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, an icon like Justin – who’d be heir to that throne – should rock a Jackson hit whenever opportunity presents itself.

Deltron 3030 – “Melding Of The Minds” feat. Zach De La Rocha

artworks-000057651163-h35o7d-t500x500

Deltron 3030 rocking out on the track with Zack De La Rocha (former lead of Rage Against The Machine). This single is a “Melding Of The Minds” as the duo prepares to drop their LP “Event II” (due out September 30, 2013, pre-order at iTunes). Good ‘rock rap’ – good preparation for an album that boasts contributions from a range of folks as varied as Damon Albarn (2nd generation rocker) to Joseph Gordon-Levitt (actor) to David Cross (comedian/actor).

60 Minutes: The Legacy Of Michael Jackson (Video)

It’s been four years since Michael Jackson’s passing. The late King of Pop is the subject of the above segment on CBS television’s 60 Minutes. The expose focuses on the talent he possessed (up to the end), his material possessions (all left in the warehouse), his debt (cleared by cash from investments and sales of music and other assets); with extensive conversation with John Branca, executor of MJJ’s estate.

(Damn. Michael Jackson’s estate has made $600 million in the four years since his passing. He’s the King even after going to the hereafter!)

“When you’re a background singer, it is a springboard. But it can easily become quicksand if that’s not what you want to do.”

Alternative: Thundercat – “Lotus and the Jondy”

The ThundercatsRecorded in Adrian Younge’s studio, Los Angeles (California, USA) bassist/songwriter/vocalist Stephen Bruner aka Thundercat takes us plenty of places on this track “Lotus & The Jondy.” There is structure to this single – in that it has a beginning and end, instrumentation and vocals… But the flow is very fluid. Organic to say the least… with Thundercat’s chanting lyrically throughout and drummer Thomas Pridgen going off in the latter half. Check out this auditory experiment from the album “Apocalypse” (due out On July 9, 2013).
