R&B/Alternative: Phil Beaudreau – “Raid (Enemy)”

artworks-000045812941-193bgi-t500x500

This is a personal track for Phil Beaudreau, moved to put “Raid (Enemy)” when he heard about the recent Boston Marathon tragedy. This is another instance in which deep suffering yields meaningful art. Hell of a tradeoff. Play the track. Be strong Beantown.

“I was listening to this Madlib track that D Park told me about when I heard the news about the explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. That’s my home that was attacked… I feel like it was personal. This one is for my Bostonians.”

R&B: Emanny – “Miss Me” feat. SLV

Beautiful BartenderR&B singer & songwriter Emanny releases his new soul jam “Miss Me” featuring SLV (which is Joe Budden’s alter ego). This song should make the track list for his upcoming “Songs About HER 2” project. Emanny & Joe Budden….wait uhhh excuse me I forgot…I mean Emanny & “SLV” maybe be homies, but I don’t think this song needed a rap verse. Still sounds good though. Cop this joint below….

R&B/Soul: BamaLoveSoul Presents The “Ladies First” (Mixtape)

artworks-000045315302-f24k9p-t500x500Much respect to BamaLoveSoul for the crate digging it took to put this “Ladies First” together. Ease back and relax into the grooves of this mix.

‘After much listening and selecting, we bring you a collection of tracks from a handful of ladies who have recently brought a uniqueness of soul to their chosen craft.

Some allow the power in their lilting voices to enhance the lyrics, giving them a striking depth, others eschew flamboyant vocal range in lieu of tighter production and universal feel, while a few opt for bringing both elements together to create a superior overall product. In the end, be it over a heavy produced electronic soundbed, a more traditional Soul/R&B template or with nothing more than a guitar and a microphone, each lady brings their “A Game” and has left us and many others wanting more.’

R&B: Miguel – “How Many Drinks?” feat. Kendrick Lamar (Video)

Miguel’s new joint “How Many Drinks” off of his Grammy nominated ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ album is one of my favorite tracks off of his project. There weren’t many ways to improve on such a dope song, but adding Compton emcee Kendrick Lamar for the remix & within the new video makes it even more of a massive win. Check out the new video above & in case you missed some of the behind-the-scenes footage during the making of this visually stunning video just peep the link below….

Frank Ocean – “Lost” (Video)

One my favorite songs from Frank Ocean off of his latest album “channelORANGE” was the uptempo banger called ‘Lost’. I’ve had this song & the second half of ‘Pyramids’ on repeat thousands of times over the past few months. Glad to see that just like the ‘Pyramids’ record they decided to move on a visual to “Lost” as well. Check out the brand new video directed by Francisco Soriano as they capture live performance video of the R&B singers travels around the world.

Theophilus London – “Rio” feat. The Menahan Street Band

Theophilus London - Jayforce.comWhen I saw that Theophilus London had a new song called “Rio” I knew it had to be something good. Brazil is one of my favorite places to visit on the planet so I’m not surprised many artists are inspired by the country & the city of Rio De Janiero to touch upon it in their music….

“Rio” was written about my trip to Brazil in 2010. i never forgot the memories. felt like i had to dedicate a song to keep that memory alive.’

Classic Clips: New Edition Performs ‘Candy Girl’ On Soul Train (Video)

It’s crazy to think of all the music New Edition has been involved with over the years as a group & even with their respective solo careers, spin-off groups, & artists they’ve mentored. I can remember that period well when New Edition first came out & ‘Candy Girl’ was their first big hit. Check out this classic clip from 1983 when they first appeared on Soul Train. The music was good but I did get a good laugh looking at this video of the outfits & the way they looked back then……

Now as Miguel begins his tour for the album he wants his fans to experience the ride with him in these new videos he’ll be releasing as he goes from city to city.
