R&B/Soul: Raheem DeVaughn – “Wrong Forever”
After taking your favorite artists hit records & making them better by adding his own “Radio Raheem” touch to popular joints over the past few days, the D.C. soul singer hits the fans with something original with the help of a popular Bizmarkie sample in the hook called “Wrong Forever” in which he laments over a failed relationship. Raheem DeVaughn does it again….quality!
R&B/Soul: Bilal – “Back2Love” (Video)
Here’s the music video for Bilal’s “Back2Love.” Flowers and a cookie, huh? Gotta try that. “Back2Love” is a single off the upcoming Bilal album “A Love Surreal” (due out February 12, 2013). We posted the audio download link in an earlier post here.
R&B/Jazz: Tall Black Guy – “I Don’t Want To Leave” (Sure Know How To Love Me Re-Edit) feat. Dandy Teru
The 5th volume of the Luv N’Haight Edit Series features re-works of Luv N’Haight’s “Darondo” by beat beasts Tall Black Guy and Dandy Teru. Here’s “I Don’t Want To Leave” (Sure Know How To Love Me Re-Edit) from the duo. Pre-order the Vol. 5 “Darondo” rework here.

R&B: Rochelle Jordan – “Impossible”
R&B singer Rochelle Jordan puts her own words and essence to the hit song “She Will” produced by T-Minus & originally recorded by Lil Wayne featuring Drake. Many people are already saying they dig her version better from an R&B perspective. I think T-Minus needs to get in the studio with Rochelle Jordan for some more gems.
R&B: Luke James – “Whispers In The Dark” (Album)
New music by someone new on my scope. Carmen aka Candy Yams from the Beatz & Lyrics Show with JayForce put me on to this artist and album. Definitely good chill music. Check out (and download) “Whispers in the Dark” – an album from crooner Luke James right here.

R&B: Mya – “Mr. Incredible” (Video)
Gaaaaad DAMN! Sexy Mya in a hot bubble bath singing to me! I mean… new hot music video from Mya for “Mr. Incredible” – from the “K.I.S.S.” album (out now). Props to video director Derek Brown and DP Brian Straughn. We posted a link to cop the album in an earlier post here.
R&B: Tamar Braxton – “The One” (Live)
Do it, Tamar Braxton. Do it live! We got audio of Tamar doing a live performance of “The One” with samples from Biggie (“Juicy”) and Mtume (“Juicy Fruit,” which B.I.G. sampled himself).

R&B/Soul: D-Felic – “Oceans” feat. Vida Jafari
Man! Respect to BamaLoveSoul for this gem. Dutch producer D-Felic’s collaborates with Vida Jafari on “Oceans” – a standout single on his recently released “Flight 799” EP. This is jazzy soul to drink to, chill to, groove to….whatever you do. Stream “Oceans” and grab the EP “Flight 799.”
R&B: Brandy – “How High”
Brandy had a relatively good 2012 with her return back to the music & making a variety of promo runs & interviews. I was even surprised to see her on ESPN’s First Take speaking on sports. Didn’t seem like people on twitter cared about what she was saying because all they could talk about was how her ass looked on the show. She did indeed look amazing though. To celebrate her great year & the upcoming release of her new album “Two Eleven” next year, she let go of this previously unreleased mid-tempo track called “How High”. I truly dig the song, but the only thing I wasn’t too happy about is when Brandy starts rapping under her alter ego “Bran’Nu”. In case you missed Brandy’s appearance on ESPN First Take check out the video after the jump…..
R&B: Jhene Aiko – “Wrap Me Up” feat. James Fauntleroy
Def Jam Recordings has a new star! Jhene Aiko… mmm mm mm! Her single “Wrap Me Up” is a holiday season hot joint. Unexpected use of a Christmasy beat laced with sleigh bells. With some assistance from Cocaine 80s’ James Fauntleroy, the vocals go sultry and hot over what could have been a rated G track (took it to PG-13… all good). Liking this.

R&B/Alternative: Frank Ocean – “Wiseman”
Frank Ocean created this song “Wiseman” specifically for the “Django Unchained” film that comes out tomorrow starring Jamie Foxx. Unfortunately director Quentin Tarantino says he was unable to find an adequate scene for the song to fit in the film so it was excluded. Frank Ocean appeared to express no hard feelings via his tumblr page as he mentioned that he thought the film was still “ill” without his song. He also has the words to the song posted on his tumblr page too if y’all want to peep it here. It’s a shame because the song sounds & feels very good. Deeply great emotional song where a large part of the beauty is in the songwriting.
R&B/Soul: Raheem DeVaughn – “Turn On The Lights” Remix
D.C. soul sanga Raheem DeVaughn continues his jacking-for-beats campaign & no one is safe. Not even the so-called ‘struggle falsetto’ of R&B artist Future’s hit record ‘Turn On The Lights’. As always Raheem DeVaughn doesn’t disappoint putting his own touch on the hits & often times making them even better.

Been playing this song on the radio show for weeks now & it’s been receiving a good response from the listeners. The song appears on Talib Kweli’s ‘Prisoner Of Conscious’ project, but for now check out this brand new dreamy video directed by Ryan Leslie with Kweli & Ryan Leslie both doing it big with a few honeys in the clip.

R&B/Jazz: Freddie Joachim – “Morning Calm”
I’m a big fan of Freddie Joachim’s work & he consistently keeps the quality coming. I can listen to his soulful & jazzy soundscapes for months & never get tired of them. That’s the definition of timeless. His latest project “Fiberglass Kisses” is out now & my favorite song “Keep Lovin” featuring North Carolina songstress Carlitta Durand stays on repeat in my itunes. This new joint right here he released called “Morning Calm” is just that….relaxing. Had this one on repeat several times after I first listened to it & felt I’d share it with y’all below. Trust me…it’s perfect.

LL Cool J – “Take It” feat. Joe (Video)
At this point in his career this is the type of quality hip hop I’d expect from LL Cool J. Brand new video for his new single “Take It” featuring R&B singer Joe. LL Cool J’s upcoming album “Authentic Hip Hop” drops in February….

R&B/Soul: Marvin Gaye – “Ain’t That Peculiar” (Soulpersona Remix)
Another banger from Soulpersona! He remixed the legend – Marvin Gaye – to come up with his “Ain’t That Peculiar” joint. Dope! Seems like Soulpersona has something new in the works. Check what he left in the comments on his streaming page:
‘…Currently in the demo stages, and featuring my good friend Carl Hudson on piano.’
