Spotted this joint over at OKP & couldn’t get over how dope & beautiful this song is. Detroit producer & DJ House Shoes brought along his homegirl singer Jimetta Rose for “Castles” (The Sky Is Ours) which is a tribute to their fallen friend “J1” who passed away in November of last year. The release of this tribute coincides with what would have been their fallen friend’s birthday this week. The song will appear on House Shoes’ upcoming album but can also be copped via bandcamp or making a donation to J1’s family at the link HERE.

I remember my homie Laquan was assigned to drive Diddy around in Atlanta a few times & he said he asked “Mr. Ciroc bwoy” himself how does he do it all. Mr. Combs’ response was… “Just don’t stop. I don’t stop. I’m always moving at 100 miles an hour all the time”. Check out this video of Diddy performing at a concert, hosting parties in NY & at a Connecticut casino, hitting NBA All-Star Weekend in Florida, & eventually flying out to the L.A. for the Oscars all in a matter of 48 Hours.

Apparently this pretty cool joint produced by Steve Spacek was recorded back in 2004 with Raphael Saadiq, Common, & Ledisi. Not sure why it was never used & it’s quite possible that the song isn’t even finished. I can just imagine all the other soulful dopeness that’s probably laying around on the hard drives of Raphael Saadiq or even Steve Spacek for that matter….

The video is awesome in depicting a father taking the time to teach his sons about their proud African heritage then taking them to a local block party to enjoy some good tunes. As corny as it may seem to some, we need more positive songs and images for the youth to see and digest. Esperanza Spalding’s new album Radio Music Society releases March 20th, be sure to cop that when it drops….

Rashad – “The Return” (Video)

If you follow me on the radio pretty closely you may have remembered me playing this song from Rashad called “The Return”. My homie Supa Mariooo who represents Rashad gave me an advance copy of the very dope “Museum” album from the singer, writer, & producer & “The Return” was one of the standout tracks I told them they should make a single. I ran several dope tracks on the radio with their permission & I’m glad to see they appreciated my input. The video was shot in one take, in Columbus Ohio & represents a return to real music & a golden age that has been long forgotten. Can’t wait for y’all to hear the rest of this very dope album….
