Boaz – “Rapness Monster” (Produced By Larry Fisherman)

Boaz ran ‘cross the street one day (probably) to get the “Rapness Monster” beat from his Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania, USA) partner Larry Fisherman aka Mac Miller. Yep. Miller made the beat track. Oh, and Boaz made the song available for FREE download (linked below).

Ab-Soul – “The End is Near” feat. Mac Miller

artworks-000046346826-10e5pm-t500x500Waiting on that new Ab-Soul album? Everyone is. But at least we have “The End is Near” (featuring Mac Miller). Track produced by Larry Fisherman.

Mac Miller feat. Prodigy – “Confessions Of A Cash Register” (Prod. By Alchemist)

Mac MillerProduced by Alchemist, “Confessions of a Cash Register” features Prodigy starting the rhymes with classic crime-murda-murda-not-loving-these-hoes talk. Then Mac Miller wraps the rap (all the way to the abrupt gunshot on the track). Alchemist and Prodigy make good music. This Mac track continues the tradition.

Mac Miller – “Someone Like You” (Prod. By J. Hill)

This joint is pretty dope with the smooth chillout vibe & I completely understand what Mac Miller is doing by ‘screwing up’  his vocals on the track.  I’m not sure if this is eventually gonna be a reference track for another rapper, R&B singer, or if the Pittsburgh kid will use it on an upcoming project, but this J-Hill produced track definitely sounds dope to me on some chillout shieeeeeet.

Statik Selektah x Termanology’s European Adventure With Nas x Mac Miller (Video)

The video (shot and edited by Daniel and Michael of K1X) compiles clips of 1982 (Statik Selektah x Termanology) touring across Europe with Nas, Mac Miller, and others. Backstage snippets, b-roll footage on the road, interactions with fans, and a vignette of the 1982 duo rocking their hit “Lights Down” off their mixtape “2012” (out now) in front of an eager crowd adorn this piece.

Big Sean – “Hundred Dollar Bill Skyscraper” feat. Mac Miller

I like when Big Sean chooses the right tracks where you can better comprehend & appreciate his lyricism.  I’ve felt that sometimes when he’s flowing over the right instrumentation, like his freestyles over J Dilla tracks, the listener can truly see that this kid from Detroit is not really a slouch lyrically. This smooth new joint “Hundred Dollar Bill Skyscraper” produced by Drumma Boy is a perfect example of a track complementing the emcee while not overshadowing him so much that he has to dumb down his flow with the ‘Wobbly Wobbly’ lyrics. It’s shaping up to be another good year for Big Sean with Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation album “Cruel Summer” on the way, his sophomore solo album, & finally connecting with his Pittsburgh homie Mac Miller for the first time on this track as they try to continue building ‘Hundred Dollar Bill Skyscrapers’ during the course of their careers….

Skillz – “Good Evening Freestyle”

Skillz recently celebrated another born day so he let loose this freestyle over Mac Miller’s ‘Good Evening’ instrumental. The song was released with the help of the DMV’s resident radio DJ & air-personality DJ Money. The track fits Skillz well & lyrically you already know the Virginia emcee does what he does better than most lyricists in the game still…..

MTV Shines Light On Pittsburgh’s Growing Hip Hop Scene (Video)

Get More: Music News

With the recent success of Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller, Pittsburgh’s hip hop scene is continuing to flourish after years of being considered the younger brother to Philadelphia in terms of all things hip hop. But while both cities have never had any significant or competitive rivalries in the state of ‘Pistolvania’, they’ve often have had a distinct difference traditionally in terms of sound & influences. Pittsburgh’s sound can vary from a midwest vibe to a super lyrical east coast vibe in which it’s eastern neighbor Philly is typically known for. With the recent signing of rap artist Boaz to Rostrum records, MTV does a feature on Pittsburgh’s next generation of rising stars & the scene they grew up out of.

Mac Miller – “Of The Soul” Remix feat. Posdnous & Raekwon

Pittsburgh’s Mac Miller decides to take it back to the soul with this remix to his “Of The Soul” joint off of his Blue Slide Park” album. Who better for him to do that with than Posdnous of De La Soul & the god shallah Raekwon. No change up in the production from ID Labs, but a few verses from two legends are a definite upgrade for a remix….

Mac Miller – “Definition Of Cool” feat. Diggy (Prod. By Big Jerm)

Mac Miller let loose two new joints over the weekend with “Loud” & this new one that just leaked via UHTN called “Definition Of Cool” featuring Diggy. The beauty in this track lies largely in the production of Big Jerm in addition to both Mac Miller & Diggy’s playful wordplay. I’m also feeling Diggy bringing out the cool ‘Slick Rick’-type British flow on this as well. Checked Mac Miller’s twitter page so it’s not clear due to the lack of info if the song is supposed to appear on Mac Miller’s upcoming “Macadelic” project. Not everything Mac Miller has done “commercially” fits what I personally like, but when he drops true school joints like these I’m almost 100% happy with it every time.

Mac Miller – “Blue Slide Park” (Prod. by ID Labs)

I don’t particularly understand all the hate Mac Miller has been getting as of late especially when the title track to his album “Blue Slide Park” bangs like this. As long as he doesn’t have an album full of “sing songy” raps then I’m positive he’ll be fine when it drops. I’ve been following his rise in the game once I saw him start bubbling out of the Pittsburgh area & now the kid is consistently selling out shows internationally. He built up his own fanbase independently by doing his own thing, being creative, & having fun with the music so you can’t be mad at that especially since he’s a fan of hip hop & respects the culture. The album “Blue Slide Park”, named after a Pittsburgh area park he & his crew would often be found hanging out at, drops November 8th. Check out the title track below…..

Mac Miller Surprised of Sold Out London Show & UK Fanbase (Video)

In every interview I watch of Mac Miller I gain more & more respect for the kid. I pay careful attention to interviews of new young hip hop artists with the intention to gain a better idea of where their head is at with the music, culture, & their futures. It’s hugely evident that Pittsburgh’s Mac Miller is a student of the game & is making the right moves in growing his fanbase. So much so that his show in London was soldout with fairly minimum radio play. I wish more young artists in the game paid attention to more that just writing rhymes & flossing, but in learning about the past greats to better their own career.

The intro to this new video from Pittsburgh artist Mac Miller as a kid reciting the Sugar Hill Gang classic Rapper’s Delight is priceless! Hahaaaa! Dope!
