Phil Ade – ‘Incense’ feat. Mac Miller

D.C. is definitely getting stronger & stronger with talented artists coming out of that area. The whole DC,Maryland, & Virginia in general. The DMV is putting out quality, but just haven’t gotten enough of the spotlight for its quality as of yet. I’ve checked out several joints here & there from Phil Ade who’s currently signed to Raheem DeVaughn’s independent label 368 Music Group but I think this is the first joint that really drew me in.  Phil Ade links up with Pittsburgh spitter Mac Miller to deliver rhymes over this joint produced by Sunny Norway that sounds like some real laid back lyrical mood music. This is a good choice leak from Phil Ade’s upcoming album called ‘A Different World’ that drops on Tuesday in conjunction with 368 Music Group & 2dopeboyz.

OkayPlayerTV: The Roots Picnic (Video)

Although there were plenty of videos that surfaced on the web focusing on Philly’s largest summer festival & the many performers that graced the stage, The Roots crew’s Okayplayer team dropped a high quality recap over the weekend. As a Philly native it’s amazing for me to see what the The Roots annual picnic on Festival Pier on Penn’s Landing has grown into. The Roots continue to make me proud to be from Philly not only for the music they present to the world, but in the many ways they reach back for Philly artists, Philly fans, the city, & the community at large. Check out the video recap….Okay Player?

Rapsody featuring Mac Miller – ‘Extra Extra’ (Video + Mp3s)

Been playing this song on the radio & now its good to see they dropped some type of video for the joint too. Fresh off of their 16 date tour Rapsody & Mac Miller bring that ‘Extra Extra’ produced by Khrysis. We placed the clean version down there for DJs that needed this plus another banger called ‘Out The Truck’ produced by AMP that dropped a few days ago too….

New Music: Mac Miller – ‘People Under The Stairs’

Yo I gotta give props where props is due! Pittsburgh’s own Mac Miller is a student of hip hop & it’s becoming ever more clear to me when I see the types of beat choices he rocks over. Los Angeles based rap group ‘People Under The Stairs’ may not be as well known to mainstream rap fans, but Mac Miller is introducing them to new fans with this new track right here. P.U.T.S’s underground classic ‘San Francisco Knights’ STILL gets rotation from me on the ipod & an occasion flashback spin on my radio show. I NEVER get tired of that song. Ever. When I saw that Mac Miller decided to rock over this joint I was excited to hear it. While every new rapper is trying to rhyme over some new radio hit that just came out, Mac Miller is going back deeper in studying his lessons. It’s obvious Mac Miller is a student working hard to earn his respect & graduate in this game. He still has a long way to go, but I see you Freshman. Keep going Mr. Mac Miller. Keep Going……

Rapsody – ‘Extra Extra’ feat. Mac Miller & Halo (prod by Khrysis)

This is some pure dopeness in anticipation for Rapsody’s upcoming project ‘Thank H.E.R. Now’. It would be hot idea if Rapsody could seek out Paula Perry & DJ Premier to do a remix to this ‘Extra Extra’ joint. Either way this joint is a banger! For now its Khrysis on the booooard with the Heat!

The 2011 XXL Magazine Freshmen Roundtable Discussion (Video)

It’s easy for me to understand what the staff at XXL magazine have been doing recently with their freshman covers as of late. I said this a while ago on my twitter page that in making their choices for their annual freshmen cover they are choosing newcomers in the game with their own particular fanbase. I equally applaud XXL magazine for fully taking advantage with these video freestyles & new roundtable discussions. Many of these young guys make some great points about what they need to do from here on out & also rehash a few funny stories.

Take Em To The Cleaners: Kanye West, Talib Kweli, SlaughterHouse, Nas, Killer Mike, & More

Every week or two I’m gonna do what I call ‘Take Em To The Cleaners’. It’s gonna be a post of clean music for all my DJs & radio people who require clean versions of songs. Make sure you check out last week’s ‘Take Em To The Cleaners’ post & general info I posted. Here’s what I have for this week after the jump!
