The Latest Offering Of The X-Men Franchise, “Dark Phoenix,” Hits The Big Screen June 7th (Trailer)

Well, well. The old run of the ‘X-Men’ blockbusters starting around the turn of the century put out a take on The Phoenix Saga. But this version though… Maaaaan, LET’S GO!

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” Hits Theaters Valentine’s Day 2019 (Trailer)

Surely comic book version purists were miffed at when the X-Men movie franchise messed with several storylines in the first trilogy (esp. in ‘The Last Stand’… Cain Marko aka Juggernaut is NOT a mutant). But this “Dark Phoenix” might, just might, try to steer in the direction of comic canon.

See, in ‘The Last Stand’ Jean Grey did all she could (with Professor X’s …um …help) to control the Dark Phoenix within. But we had no idea where the Phoenix came from. It was like Jean had a super-powered schizophrenic evil alter ego; one that was just there, that Xavier wouldn’t dare let Jean let out. Which likely left longtime ‘X-men’ readers yelling at the screen: HELLO! Phoenix is a COSMIC entity! Where’s the outer space part of the story!???!

Well, fingers crossed, the trailer above could be letting us know that they are going there. FINALLY! Saw a little bit of a space trip in there, but look and see if you see it, too.

(Plus, the teaser text after the jump. Really promising the good goods!)

So far, the ‘prequel’ and ‘alternate’ storyline movies (‘First Class,’ ‘Days Of Future Past,’ and ‘Apocalypse’) of the franchise have scaled up well as far as ‘popcorn effect’ goes… complex story arcs, conflicted characters, BIG explosions and massive destruction scenes from torn down cityscapes to ripped up ocean floors. And a plethora of X-Men are in play (most everyone but Wolverine, unless you count quick cameos). So whatever they choose to do with them and this story we can trust it’ll be epic, well worth the price of admission.

Of course, we will know that for sure by February of next year!

Marvel Presents ‘The Gifted’ (Series Trailer)

Okay! So FOX is trying to eat off ‘superhero TV’ now. FX is on board for a second season of “Legion” – a show that leans on the door of the X-Men mutant universe. Now the big network of the FOX TV family is kicking that door in and sitting at the grownups’ table this Fall. They even have Bryan Singer at the storytelling helm. He’s the one who brought us those first Patrick Stewart x Hugh Jackman x Halle Berry X-Men! Here’s the series synopsis…

What tore them apart is what will bring them together. From Director Bryan Singer, and in association with Marvel Television, comes the all-new FOX series, “The Gifted.”

Action-adventure family drama “The Gifted,” from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

X-Men: Apocalypse (Trailer #2)

Oh HELLS yeah! X-Men: Apocalypse is gonna be the azz naked truth! The familiar characters (most) from Days Of Future Past show up and show out for this one. Epic!

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

X-Men: Apocalypse (Trailer)

If you’ve kept up with the Marvel over the years then you’d probably come to the same conclusion as I have that the actor Oscar Isaac portraying the villain “Apocalypse” doesn’t, by all appearances, seem like the proper person for the role. However the actress Alexandra Shipp who will play “Storm” in the film does appear to look the part.  Just my two cents.  We all know the keys to make the film successful is the acting, direction, & the script. We’ll see this summer.  I’m looking forward to Memorial Day weekend when X-Men: Apocalypse is in theaters on May 27th, 2016.

“Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. X-Men: Days of Future Past (Trailer)

Professor X (Patrick Stewart) gets to meet young Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) in this one. That’d be enough, right? But the trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past is LOADED with story and character to spare… Wolverine traveling back in time, sort of introducing the modern era X-Men to the sequel’s (1960s-era set of X-Men: First Class) people. Young Mystique, young Magneto, seasoned Magneto … and Storm (yeah, Halle is on board). Director Bryan Singer is bringing it – May 23, 2014.

Oh, and remember Trask Industries’ commercial that we posted a good while back? Yessir… WE HAVE SENTINELS IN THIS MOVIE!! Watch the trailer.

X-Men: First Class Starts June 3rd (Trailer)

Marvel’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ (International Movie Trailer)

X-Men: First Class Movie Trailer

This looks like it’s gonna be pretty good! I’m excited at all the great super hero flicks dropping this summer…..

About The Film:

“X-MEN FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.”
