Jared Leto Is “Morbius” (Trailer)

Oh, okay. So, Jared Leto is hopping from one Universe to another – Joker in DC, to being NO JOKE in the Marvel Universe… “Morbius” (not mad though). Watch this all the way to the end. Because someone got some ‘splaining to do… Is that Michael Keaton in another role, or is ‘The Studio That Brought You Spiderman: Homecoming introducing Vulture into this story arc?? Wow!

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
– Sony Pictures Releasing Australia

“Morbius” is in cinemas July 30th.

50 Cent Enters Partnership To Produce An Animated Version Of The “Trill League” Graphic Novel (Trailer)

VERY interesting. Could this be a ‘move over Justice League‘ situation in the making? 50 is on fire with his studio production moves (which reminds me, the last episodes of “Power” just started Sunday… gotta get on that).

I saw a reviewer post a video on “Trill League” on YouTube and went looking for a trailer on an ‘official channel.’ This one above is as close as I could get to that. Looks like this teaser has been floating around on the Tube for years. Now, it’s getting ‘real.’

Trill League, an animated series based on Anthony Piper’s graphic novel, is a combination of superheroes, anime, and Hip-Hop culture. Piper is co-creating, writing, and executively producing the series with Jameel Saleem (Disenchantment, Whiskey Cavalier). The executive producers are 50 Cent and Jermaine Johnson of 3 Arts Entertainment, which is producing the series with 50’s G-Unit Film & Television in association with Lionsgate TV.

Real talk… Aaron McGruder leaving the Cartoon Network series “The Boondocks” left the show to die a slow painful death. But whyyyyy though? Here’s why.

Good content on the matter; going all the way back to the roots of “The Boondocks” in comic strip form.

Peter Parker Needs A Vacation, But The World Needs Spiderman (Trailer)

Or should that read that the WORLDS need Spiderman? Hmmm. Answer the phone, Peter.

Yep. The new “Spiderman: Far From Home” MCU movie is gonna be dope! Gotta watch these things in order, especially with the ‘growing up’ Spidey had to do to make it through “Avengers: Infinity Wars” and “Avengers: End Game” (because SPACE, TIME, and INTERDIMENSIONAL travel… talk about ‘far from home’ right?).

Oh, and don’t watch this if you haven’t seen “End Game” yet #SpoilerAlert

‘Blade’ Paved The Way For All The MCU Blockbusters That Would Follow (Video)

Not everyone, but many folks ignore or outright diss the ‘Blade’ contribution to what Marvel has offered the movie world.

(Looking at you, too, ‘Deadpool’‘Blade: Trinity’ was my fave of the series, but you take shots at it. Hannibal King foreverrr!)

Check out this discussion clip giving the props that Marvel’s first Black hero [before all the #WakandaForever stuff] movie deserves.

And yes, ‘Black Panther’ is a far better movie than anything in the ‘Blade’ franchise. Not the point though. Just saying it before the haters do.

“Joker” Comes To Theaters This Fall (Trailer)

Whoa, Zazie Beetz (with your fine self)… you are in the MARVEL Universe… why the jump to a DC origin story? Actually, though, this looks pretty dope. Good casting and compelling storytelling; let the trailer tell it.

There will be immediate comparisons to Heath Ledger’s (RIP) “Joker” to be certain.

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger Season 2 Premieres Thursday, April 4 On Freeform (Series Trailer)

I never like it when my shows take long hiatuses, esp. in the modern TV era when most networks’ shows break their seasons in half (like a series premiere, then a midseason finale, then a midseason premiere, then a season finale). Too much time away from the viewers. Out of sight, out of mind, out of a job.

But Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger had a pretty good premiere season. Hopefully, the long hiatus means a powerful second season is on the way. We will see next month!

Debut Season Of “Doom Patrol” On The DC Universe Streaming Platform (Trailer)

Cyborg’s in there on the team, too. Cool!

New episode every Friday. Already started on February 15th.

DOOM PATROL reimagines one of DC’s most beloved groups of Super Heroes: Robotman aka Cliff Steele (BRENDAN FRASER), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (MATT BOMER), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (APRIL BOWLBY) and Crazy Jane (DIANE GUERRERO), led by modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief (TIMOTHY DALTON). Each member of the Doom Patrol suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found their purpose through The Chief, coming together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence. Following the mysterious disappearance of The Chief these reluctant heroes will find themselves in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg (JOIVAN WADE), who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

I’m catching up on this this weekend. I promise you. Looks like the storylines could go really far out there given this trailer!

The Latest Offering Of The X-Men Franchise, “Dark Phoenix,” Hits The Big Screen June 7th (Trailer)

Well, well. The old run of the ‘X-Men’ blockbusters starting around the turn of the century put out a take on The Phoenix Saga. But this version though… Maaaaan, LET’S GO!

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Harley Quinn Will ‘See You Soon’ Enough… In A New DC Movie In 2020 (Teaser Trailer)

Hard to argue against Margot Robbie being the breakout star of the all-star cast in the DC Universe’s flick “Suicide Squad.” Ready for an argument yet to come? How well will she hold up as the front-and-center star of her own DCU ‘chapter’ of sorts? Discuss.

This is the teasiest of teasers for “Birds of Prey” (due out in 2020).

Check out the official Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) trailer starring Margot Robbie!

It’s Summer, And Spider-Man Is “Far From Home” (Trailer)

Okay, watching this trailer should leave you with [at least] two takeaways: (1) Just when you don’t expect it, Nick Fury will come through, AND (2) Nick Fury came through, Peter… which is… Why. You. NEVER. Leave. Your. Spidey. Suit. At. Home!!

(Acceptable alternate takeaway: Auntie is super cute. Looks like she could make Happy reeeeally HAPPY. Haha!)

Young Justice, Season 3 Tease: Batman, Black Lightning, And Green Arrow Quit The Justice League (Video)

United Nations Secretary-General Lex Luthor???? Duuuuude!!!

And… and that was Black Lightning in there?? And did you SEE Green Arrow right there shoulder-to-shoulder with Batman in the clip (on even keel, finally acknowledging what the Arrowverse on The CW has done to SAVE the DC franchise at least in some way)?? Okay, DC Universe, NOW you are on the right track!

I have got some cartoon watching and RE-watching to do!

Whew! That’s a LOT of resignations. Gonna leave a mark, or hole, in the League. Who’s going to shoulder the load going forward? Who’s gonna take the weight? #YoungJustice #Outsiders

DC’s “Young Justice” Series Continues With Season 3… Finally (Trailer)

Don’t know how deep y’all go into the whole DC cartoon thing, but Cartoon Network had a good thing going with “Young Justice” (then dropped it). The series focused on the young’ns in the Justice League. You’d get dashes of Batman, Green Lantern corpsmen (plural, because Hal Jordan and John Stewart were on there) and others… but most of the time was spent on the likes of Nightwing, Aqualad, Artemis, and Connor Kent.

Sidebar: We REALLY don’t get enough Connor Kent in the DCU storylines. Hopefully, the coming “Titans” and “Young Justice” eps handle that problem.

Anyway, here’s a trailer for the long-awaited return of “Young Justice”. Out now on DC’s streaming service.

Actor/Director/Producer Kevin Smith Reviews ‘Aquaman’ (Video)

Aquaman is gonna make a billion dollars… go back in time and tell somebody that.

I know that’s right, Kevin. Who would have thunk it? Aquaman was the ‘joke’ hero back in the day, but now he’s the box office bank buster. Watch the clip above for a true comic/movie head’s insight.

DC Universe’s “Doom Patrol” Series Premieres February 15, 2019 (Trailer)

Wooowww! Ohhhhh, so that’s how they are doing it! See, DC Universe’s series “Titans” has everyone I remember on the ‘Teen Titans’ I remember from the comics I read… except Cyborg. I was thinking, “Since Cyborg was part of the ‘Justice League’ on the big screen he cannot just show up on a streaming series.”

Oh yes, he can. Plus, ‘Doom Patrol’ was an episode in “Titans” season 1. Bet your pockets there will be a crossover that puts Cy down with the ‘Titans’ at least temporarily. DOPE!

Watch the first teaser trailer for DC Universe’s “Doom Patrol,” starring Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor/Negative Man, Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele/Robotman, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Joivan Wade as Victor Stone/Cyborg, and Timothy Dalton as Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief.

“Aquaman” Debuted As The #1 Movie (Video)

Have you seen the latest DC movie “Aquaman” yet? Looks like DC is hitting the come-from-behind trail hard with this one. Here’s the last teaser for the movie that took the top spot this past weekend (according to Variety, see their take on the flick after the jump).

Loving the way they got the archnemesis Black Manta’s look just right (e.g. like we remember from back in the day, but modernized a just a touch).
