One Vibe Africa Presents: Year Of Return (Trailer)

From the U.S. back to Kenya. Yes indeed.

You KNOW we are about travel abroad (e.g. from The States to overseas destinations). But this one hits home. As in Mother Africa, being home to ALL humanity and civilization. And this… this is epic. Of course, you know plenty of Sisters and Brothers who have declared that ‘one day’ they are going to make that pilgrimage back Home. Making it a big deal; maybe ‘too big’ a deal. But what if that ‘pilgrimage’ was less of a ‘trip’ to take. Like, let’s just say the family, the homies, the homegirls… are going to make it to an awesome event… and take in some of The Motherland while over that way. We could do that, right? We already do it for other festivals.

And like those other festivals, maybe we make it a yearly thing; or trips more often if we find things over there that draw us back.

Moving Madaraka Festival from Seattle back to Kenya signified the importance of not only arranging for individuals to travel back to Africa as it was with the case of Ghana’s year of return initiative, but getting significant events back to Africa and keeping them in Africa as a way to build a sustainable bridge allowing people of all backgrounds to travel to Africa to enjoy a festival of a lifetime, immerse themselves in the African culture, and inspire global change and collaboration towards mitigating climate change, which does not only threaten the climate but is an existential threat to our music, culture, and livelihood.
– One Vibe TV

Dope music and culture do it again. Let’s get together; for the community and the cause. It’s a Vibe. One Vibe Africa! Matter of fact, why not show love and SUPPORT right now: Cop the EP (linked below) #ForTheYouth #ForKisumu #ForKenya #ForOurWorld

Hit the jump for more on that. The fam Mazzi really blessed with the knowledge on this one. Knowledge and blessing right to mobile #Mobilize

“Charm City Kings” Hits The Streets… And The Screens… This Coming April (Trailer)

Okay. OKAY!

Meek Mill making it work in the movies. Salute. And this “Charm City Kings” looks epic. Teaser showing snips from what should be a wild story to tell. Check it…

Fourteen-year-old Mouse (Jahi Di’Allo Winston) desperately wants to join the Midnight Clique, an infamous group of Baltimore dirt-bike riders who rule the summertime streets. His older brother, Stro, was their top rider before his tragic death—a loss that consumes Mouse as much as his passion for bikes. Mouse’s mom (Teyonah Parris) and his police mentor, Detective Rivers (William Catlett), work overtime to help the charismatic teen reach his full potential, but when the Midnight Clique’s leader, Blax (Meek Mill), takes the boy under his wing, the lure of revving his own dirt bike skids Mouse toward a road way past the straight and narrow.

Puerto Rican director Angel Manuel Soto (Dinner Party, 2018 New Frontier VR experience at Sundance Film Festival) returns to the Festival with this electric feature that pulses with teen gusto, thumping Hip-Hop, and amazing bike tricks. Soto directs an astonishingly talented cast to create a narrative bursting with pitch-perfect performances and intoxicating emotion. Based on the documentary 12 O’Clock Boys, Charm City Kings is one boy’s unforgettable journey toward manhood.

(AND Jada and Will Smith are helming this as Executive Producers?? Oh heeeell yeah!)

Schools Are Still Separate And Unequal In The Deep South (Video)

The fight is NOT over! We just celebrated MLK Day, and sure, all the crowds were likely integrated to varying degrees… and even Vice President Mike Pence was on TV quoting King… BUT we STILL have MUCH work to do. Time to go back to school(s)… and fix this!

These students are still facing segregation and inequality every day at school, more than 50 years after Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights movement.

History: Did You Know The Panthers Were Instrumental In Bringing Healthcare To The Community (Video)

Just being a follower here, we can assume that you know that the Black Panthers were NOT just gun-toting White-hating anarchists and agitators. But this vid… this is for the one looking over your shoulder; the one that maybe you should invite over and give your chair and let learn the truth! The Black Panthers were not only stepping up to defend downtrodden people of color against abusive authorities, but they were stepping in where the authorities would not – providing food and healthcare programs unlike anything offered to brothers and sisters who would not get help elsewhere.

Meet The New Principal Of Newark’s Westside High School, Akbar Cook (Video)

Ellen always comes through with the great ‘feel good’ stories. This one on the brother Akbar Cook certainly ranks near the top of that stack. Watch.

Ellen sat down with Akbar Cook, Principal of a Newark, New Jersey high school, who after noticing at-risk students being bullied for dirty clothes, worked hard to install washing machines and dryers so the kids could do laundry. After hearing his story, Ellen teamed up with her friends at Cheerios to help Principal Cook continue to do good and support his “babies” at school.

Take care of the babies, Akbar. Our babies! And bless you, Ellen, for shining the light on this.
